Message From Lisa
Welcome to the new Whitney-Fan.com! This project has been years in the making for me, and I hope that you will enjoy it!
So what took me so long? I had to change the entire way that this Web site operates. It took a long time to even get to
the point where I could build the pages that you see now, and there were thousands of pages to work with.
Since this is an early site launch, you may still see some of the older black pages that were part of the old
site. These old pages will disappear over time, as I get to them. So some pages still need to be edited, and some content
still needs to be added. But most of new site is ready enough that I can share it with you now. Please bear with me while
I work out the last pieces of this project.
As you may already know, I began as the webmaster of Whitney-Fan.com in September 1999 to help Whitney fans continue to
keep in touch with Whitney's work as well as each other. This site has become an integral part of Whitney's presence on
the Internet, and together, we have kept it an up-to-date resource on all there is to know about "The Voice" -- my
favorite entertainer, Whitney Houston.
I have been a loyal Whitney fan since 1985, when she released her first single, "
You Give Good Love." I was only a child at that time, but I always had a knack for avoiding one-hit wonders with
questionable talent! And Whitney certainly did not disappoint! Her powerful, glorious voice has never ceased to amaze
me over the past 26 years, and I have continued to follow her career as she has expanded beyond music
to become one of the highest-paid actresses in
Hollywood in the span of just three films, as well as a very successful producer.
I had been planning a site of my own for Whitney when I was offered the opportunity to keep this site alive. After much
deliberation because it can be such a tough job, I decided to do it. I first began visiting this site about 15 years ago
before it had its domain address and was an early supporter. I felt that seeing it disappear would have been a terrible
blow not only to Whitney's presence on the Internet, but also to the thousands of fans who visit this site every day. I
hope that my work has done it justice.
Thank You's
The new Whitney-Fan.com would have taken me even longer to complete, were it not for the contributions of Larry A. Not
only is Larry a tremendous help to me as a moderator at the
Whitney-Fan.com Web Board, but he also took on a number of research projects that I simply would not have been able
to do at this time. As a result, you will see his name credited in many places in the music and movie article archives,
in an upcoming new online biography for Whitney Houston, and in some other content that will be added over the next month
or two. Larry, thank you so much!
I also want to thank Terrence, Clemsonfight, Kevin and Pontus for also helping to moderate the Whitney-Fan.com Web Board,
the fan galleries and blogs. The forums sometimes move at such a pace that it would have been very difficult for me to
moderate them by myself while still working on the new site. Thank you very much!
A special thank you as well to Vinny and Terrence for designing the wonderful
Whitney Houston e-cards that are a new feature at Whitney-Fan.com! You can use the e-cards system to send personal messages
to all your friends, and promote Whitney at the same time! Also thank you to Johnno, who created a beautiful new e-card and
banner to help promote Whitney Houston's new album, "I Look To You."
Keisha and Johnno were also kind enough to provide me with pictures that will be used in the upcoming
Whitney-Fan.com Gallery. Speaking of the gallery, I want to give a special thank you to the team that will be helping me to
finish it. I won't mention their names here until the project is completed, but they know who they are, and their work
will be invaluable to everyone who visits this Web site. Thank you!
Last but never least, special thanks to Rachel for creating this site and entrusting me with it in 1999. It was
difficult to take this project on, and at times, it was hard to keep the site going as it grew faster than I expected. But
I have done as much as I can to carry on this site's legacy and to make my own contribution with it. I hope that seeing it in its
new form will be an especially nice surprise for you.
Also, I cannot say enough about the wonderful people I have met over the past 12 years who have been so supportive, and
so nice to me, and who have made personal efforts to help me keep this site going -- ranging from
news submissions, to photos, to
media files, to song lyrics, and even just to say hello. Some of
them have even been kind enough to make donations
when it became very difficult for me to pay for this site. They're all fantastic and I thank them very much. It would take an
eternity to break us!
