Report on the 2nd New Year' S Eve Whitney fan meeting

Nicole Eberhardt and Chris Schmucki organized the Whitney fan meeting in Münster, Germany from 31.12.98-2.1.99. More than 40 invitations have been sent, but finally only 7 fans from Germany, Switzerland and the Netherlands joined the meeting. At first we were a little bit disappointed because of the small number of participants but we made the very best of it. The meeting was a quite beautiful happening and all of us had fun.

We met in the youth hostel in Münster on December 31, 1998. We decorated the convention room together with Whitney posters so we would feel like we were at home. Of course we listened to Nippy exclusively, talked and narrated each other the latest news of Whitney. We had to keep each other away from all the scrapbooks because we had decided to look at them tomorrow, so that we would have a kind of highlight for the next day.

After discussing the past events of this year and the new CD we became hungry and had to order a pizza although it was not allowed inside the youth hostel. So we had to wait for the pizza taxi outside and had to smuggle the pizzas inside the room. We didn't know how to do it so two of us went inside the hostel to search for another door and if there isn't one to talk to the workers there. so that they wouldn't see the others and most important the pizzas. But we found a door and opened it with that thought "Oh, that was easy!". Unfortunately it was connected with an alarm which went off... but it was perfect to keep the workers busy! We had quite a lot of trouble to get them in our room, but we finally made it.

On quarter to twelve we went outside and celebrated the New Year with champagne. A whole lot of fireworks and Whitney's music.

On 1st January we went, after having a very tired breakfast, to the community room. There we did a lot of funny photos of us and our Whitney stuff. After that we did a sightseeing tour through Munster, did a Whitney quiz and discussed on the WH Foundation for Children, future concerts and meetings and the year 2000. Then we finally looked through all the scrapbooks and photos which we had with us. The sentence "Could you copy that picture for me?" was heard far too often that day! Till the early morning we spend the time watching video tapes and just enjoyed being around each other.

New friendships have been made and old ones have been renewed.

On January 2nd a few of us returned back home and the rest went to Nicole's home to spend there another night. There we watched again videotapes, listened to Whitney CDs and talked nearly ail night long on Whitney and our memories which we share together on the European tour.

The meeting motto "Into the New Year with Whitney" has been totally fulfilled.

To all those who haven't been able to take part: You have missed a lot! We're thinking' of organizing another Nippy Fan Meeting in 1999 in southern Germany. We will be present on all events and we hope you, too.
