'Primetime' Interview Preview
submitted by: Lisa D.
date: November 13, 2002
source: Primetime

DS: The headlines were saying 'Whitney is dying.'
Whitney: No, 'Whitney was dead.'

*Three weeks from tonight, Diane Sawyer's interview with Whitney Houston on a special edition of "Primetime."*
DS: Someone said her voice was like a Stradivarius, the greatest voice of a generation. The dance tracks, the ballads, we've seen her in the movies. But for the last decade Whitney Houston's life has been plagued by scandal and mystery. What about all the rumors, bizarre behavior, cancellations? Well, Whitney Houston finally shows up.

DS: Everybody watching this...
Whitney: Yeah.
DS: ...is gonna be staring at you physically...
Whitney: Yeah.
DS: ...and they're gonna be saying, 'How thin is she now?'
Whitney: Yeah.
DS: 'Is she sick, and how sick is she?' The Michael Jackson VH1 appearance...
Whitney: Didn't I fit right in?
DS: You've seen the picture. I'm gonna show you the picture.
Whitney: Okay.
DS: The bones?
Whitney: Yeah, my bones. Yeah, I'm 5' 7" and thin.
DS: But that's not just thin, it's scary thin.

DS: And was there a devil that almost took her life.
DS: Is it alcohol? Is it marijuana? Is it cocaine? Is it pills? All?

DS: An interview in which nothing is off limits, including her turbulent marriage to singer Bobby Brown.
DS: Are you afraid of him ever?
Whitney: No. Hell no.

(Whitney is shown singing in the studio.)
Whitney Houston. Her joys.
DS: What's the very highest point of this career?
Whitney: I would say... Superbowl.
(Whitney is shown singing 'The Star-Spangled Banner' at Superbowl XXV.)

And the most painful part of her life.
DS: Your father's filing suit against you. A hundred million dollars. Do you feel betrayed, when you think it's the dad who dressed you and walked you down the aisle?

An exclusive like you've never seen her before.
DS: You think you're not tough enough for this business?
Whitney: Oh, I'm tough enough.

The Houston family. Whitney Houston. Together.
(Whitney and Bobby shown singing 'Lean On Me' with Sawyer and Bobbi Kristina standing by.)
*Whitney Houston, three weeks from tonight. A special edition of 'Primetime.' Wednesday December 4th at 9 ET.*
