Oprah Winfrey Show submitted by: Bud date: June 21/99 source: Oprah Winfrey Show (1st segment): Oprah came out and kinda introduced BK. When the audience was clapping, BK was covering her ears so Oprah told them to stop, jokingly. She kept referring to Whitney as “the voice.” Whitney came out and sung, “INRBIO.” Overall, it was a let down. Nothing new. She sang live to the cd. As usual, her backup dancers came out and did their thing. I thought that the Soul Train performance was better than this probably because they used instruments or a mixer. She didn’t hit the high notes such as, “why did 213 show up on the caller id?” or “you were making a fool of me!” Before they went to commercial, they showed a tiny clip of the “MLIYL” video. (2nd segment): The interview consisted of BK, wanting to have another baby, the tour and Monica. She talked about how one night in L.A. her and Monica stayed up from 12 AM till 6 AM just talking. BK looked really shy and embarrassed. Oprah asked Whitney, “Aren’t you worried your boobs will pop out?” Whitney said her favorite song was the Beatles' “Yesterday”? I think that’s what it’s called. She sang a little of it. “Yesterday, all my problems seemed far away. Now it looks as tho they're here to stay...” She said her favorite Whitney song was “GLOA.” (3rd segment): Whitney sang “MLIYL.” Again, it was to the album version. She added some higher notes and it sounded pretty good. At the end, when she usually sings the chorus of “MLIYL” in a high tone, she doesn’t do that. BK was included at the end of her performance. Whitney came up to her and handed BK the mic. She said: “Clap your hands” and “I told you, this song is not over yet!.” (4th segment): Now the fashion show begins. This takes up a LONG time. Approximately 15 minutes and is broken down into 2 segments. The outfits were REALLY revealing and eccentric. Oprah said, “Those are Whitney outfits?!” Whitney modeled 2 of the outfits. (6th segment): “GLOA.” The last performance. I think she sang to a different version of “GLOA.” I’m not sure because I’m not so familiar with her earlier works. I liked it even though it was in a lower tone. She held two long notes, one and the middle and one at the end. The audience seemed moved. During the commercial segment, I saw a commercial for the concert! (7th segment): The last segment, Oprah brought Whitney and BK back on stage and they did this cute game
together. One of those “Miss Mary Mac” hand games. It looked cute. Whitney messed up before Bobbi Kristina did!
And that was it! The fashion show was 2 damn long!
