Whitney sur TF1 en France submitted by: BBB=Bad Boy Bruno date: Monday, March 8, 1999 source: TF1 The show began at 8 h55, and the french singer Lara Fabian (her album is still #1 in France) sang the first song in live. At 9 h15, Jean-Pierre Foucault said to Lara if she would be afraid of a songer who as sold more than 120 million albums... to introduce our diva. She first sang "Heartbreak Hotel", in live of course, but the chorus and the part of Faith and Kelly was "pre-taped", so Whitney has not sing a lot. During the show, they showed clips from the HH music video. This version was exaclty the same as the version on the album. Her voice was okay... but she has not made vocal acrobaties. This is very bad because the French audience like that and if they like Whitney it's not for dance or street songs but for the ballads.... So the performance was a little bit dissappointing because Whitney didn't sing a lot!!! After the song the audience has made a standing ovation and every one was screaming "WHITNEY WHITNEY" (for an encore ?) and she has join Jean-Pierre Foucault. He had asked some questions but did not mention the catastrophy with Serge Gainsbourg (which happened in 1985 -- a drunk French star says "I want to f*ck you" to Whitney on live television, much to her shock. [picture]). They had show some image of old clip like IWDWS, IWALY, SBS and some of her trip to South Africa, and a few others which were very rare! He said that yesterday it was the birtday of her daughter. At the end she said that she will be soon in France but did not mention a tour. The show was not in live, it was pre-recorded 4 weeks ago like all these kinds of shows in France. The apppearance of Whitney did last only 10 minutes... it was very short. It is clear that she was not the Queen of The Night, and if people should remember something of this show, it will be Lara Fabian, not Whitney. I was very sad to see Whitney during ONLY 10 minutes. This will not help the album to sell better and the single will certainly not enter the top 20, because the song has no likability with the French public...
Very bad for a come back.... but I 'm still waiting for something else.
