THE TOUR DATES!!!!!! submitted by: Pat source: USA Today Date: May 14, 1999
Hi all! I come today bareing awesome news. In today's Weekend section of USA Today, on the front page no less, are the tour dates for Whitney's upcoming tour. The articles reads as follows: Whitney Houston taking her 'Love' songs to intimate places: Pop diva Whitney Houston says she's hoping to "reach out and touch someone" on her first concert tour in four years. The tour kicks off in Chicago June 22; tickets for several dates will go on sale May 21. More dates are likely to be added to the initial cities. Houston, who has sold 2 million copies of her latest album "My Love Is Your Love" in the USA (and 3 million more internationally), says she plans to play more intimate venues this time around and promises a mix of songs from her new album and past hits. "I've turned down a lot of arena dates because I've done the big-arena thing", says Houston. "Now I want to do something where people can feel me and I can feel them. This show is going to have a jam-session kind of feel". Article by Steve Jones ____________________________ I think these cozier concerts will be awesome. Just two complaints though from me: 1.) Why Does It Hurt So Bad - Whitney was going to open in Milwaukee, where I live, according to her first set of dates that were later cancelled. Now she's not coming here at all. Oh well... Chicago, Detroit, and St. Louis aren't too far - and I'll be at all 3 (at least). 2.) How come I had to read about this in USA Today and not hear it from the Platinum Club?!? This is probably news to them to - they SUCK! There.. I did that on purpose so that you would have to read my rantings before seeing the tour dates.. (yes, I am evil). OK.. here are the "Initial Tour Dates": Chicago - June 22 Detroit - June 25 Toronto - June 29 Albany, N.Y. - July 2 Washington D.C. - July 5 Boston - July 7 Hartford, Conn. - July 11 New York - July 14 Philadelphia - July 17 University Park, PA - July 18 Atlanta - July 20 St. Louis - July 23 Denver - July 26 Los Angeles - July 29 San Francisco - Aug 1 (Is it just me, or is this like a total opposite of her last scheduled line-up? There are very few midwest and only one southern date in Atlanta. No Florida or Texas! Well, let's all hope for more dates like the article said) Peace :) Patrick ______________________
