A REVIEW OF THE THUNDERPUSS 2000 REMIX submitted by: Foekje A. date: Feb. 16, 1999 source: Blues And Soul Mag WHITNEY HOUSTON: It's Not Right But It's Okay
In America Mrs Brown's record label have strangely, although not unusually, started promoting two singles at once. Currently also in service is her terrific R&B drenched couplet with Faith Evans and Kelly Price, "Heartbreak Hotel". In addition there's also this strong single contender too. In its original Rodney Jerkins album mix this was an obvious midtempo standout, however the remixers have got involved and now gone is the floating head-nodding rhythm hijacked by a tribal-infected house driven interpretation by the wonderfully named Thunderpuss 2000.
Musically this isn't at unlike Hex Hector's mix of
Deborah Cox's "Things Just Ain't The Same" or
Victor Calderone's Madonna recreations. They're
just a little too cliched for the UK market, but
there's more to come from Johnny Vicious and Club
69, so don't right it off just yet. (LD)
