Top 20 list submitted by: Seng Soon Y. date: December 12/98 source: A Malaysian newspaper Malaysia is the 3rd country in the world after the USA and the UK to have a large scale online sales tally of music records. And the results of the tally is a Top 20 list of the best selling international albums in the country. Lately, the chart listings has been as follows: For week ending 24 November 1998, only Mariah Carey's "1s" debuted at #4. For week ending 1 December 1998, "My Love Is Your Love" debuted at #4 while "1s" ascended to #1. For week ending 8 December 1998, "My Love Is Your Love" descends to #5 while "1s" maintained its position at #1. Whitney's descent isn't all bad news. The fantastic news is that Whitney's debut album "Whitney Houston" (the rightful best selling debut album in history) became the #6 album on the Malaysian sales charts for the week ending 8 December 1998.
That means Whitney's first album is still of
interest to many in Malaysia. That also means
most people still prefer Whitney singing songs
like "I Will Always Love You". Whitney is going
to have a tough time convincing her legions of
fans that her new hip hop album is worth the buy.
