NEW YORK--(ENTERTAINMENT
WIRE)--Dec. 2, 1999-- Songwriter/Producer mogul Kevin Briggs is slated
to be one of the 1999 recipients of the Distinguished Achievement in Contemporary
Music Award on Saturday, December 4, 1999, at the Whitney Houston All-Star
Holiday Gala. Infamous for his exceptional ability to blend melodies and
lyrics that sound like poetry to the listener has earned Briggs the nickname
"She'kspere," as he is affectionately known throughout the entertainment
industry.
A songwriter signed with Atlanta-based Hitco Music Publishing Co. (where
L.A. Reid is President), She'kspere is not only a musician extraordinaire,
but also a conscientious businessman. As Founder & CEO of She'kspere Productions,
Briggs is devoted to community development by way of structured programs
geared towards the growth of new artists. In his role of songwriter/producer,
She'kspere has developed a knack for creating hits with his most recent,
"No Scrubs" (TLC) and "Bills, Bills, Bills" (Destiny's Child), earning
No. 1 spots on the Billboard Hot 100 and Hot R&B Tracks. Along with TLC
and Destiny's Child, She'kspere keeps very busy these days working with
Mariah Carey, Faith Evans, Boys II Men, Sinead O'Conner, Jermaine Dupri,
Montell Jordan, and Mya, to name just a few.
The all-star gala, benefiting the American Cinema Awards Foundation, the
Whitney Houston Foundation for Children, Inc., and The Actors' Fund of
America, will recognize a host of honorees in various categories of achievement
and include a concert featuring a spectacular line-up of some of music's
greatest performers.
