I MET WHITNEY!!!

Hi Rachel:

First of all, let me apologize for writing to this address, the thing is that I didn't know where to submit this, because is more than a news and more than a concert review. Well, the story can be resume in just three words: I MET WHITNEY!!!

Yes, I am just feeling so emotional again with the only thought of it that my heart began to beat strongly again just as the moment as it happened.

Well, let's begin with the story. One day, about 4 months ago, I received an email from another fan from Argentina, greeting me and telling me that he thought that there weren't any other fan in out country and that he found my email address in a Whitney Web page. Well, I answered his mail and we just became "email" friends, always talking about our diva and talking about everything we like from her. Well, one day he passed me a web page about a new TV program from Spain that was going to came to Argentina. In the program they send 3 peoples to diferents cities in the world and the winners should show the city for the program viewers.

Well, the thing was that I fullfil the form in the page and submit it. A few days after that I was studying in a school mate's house for an exam that night ( it was on Monday ) and in her house came a lot of people with cameras telling me that I was the winner of the contest for this new program and that I need to go to their office the next day to know which city I was going to go (the city were Paris, New York and Sidney).

Well, I went to the office and after a raffle my city was New York. Well, they managed to do my Passport very fast and all the other stuff and the following Sunday I was flying to New York. The thing was that in all this trip they made me talked about my likes and things like that and of course I began talking about my fanatism over our DIVA and the music in general. I went with at least five more people ( a cameraman, an assistant, and two producers, days after two more people join us in NY).

Supposedly I was going to show NY and the music there and all the week we were doing things in the streets and make the people sing and rap and a lot of funny stuff, even we went to New Ark and show the Bapstist Church and I talked about the gospel (which I love) and the people there. We were staying in a hotel in front of the Madison Square Garden and it was the week when Whitney was going to perform, but the days she was going to perform there we were supposed to not be in NY and be in Chicago or anywhere else but not there that's why I didn't buy a ticket to see her in concert, the tickets were available only for Wednesday and the ones left were $75 so It was plenty of money to buy it and not to use it. So I didn't buy it for that reason and after all they inform me that we stay in NY but I couldn't get any ticket because it was sold out.

You can imagine my fury but what can I say, I was in NY for other reason so I couldn't say anything. On Thursday (15th, July) they made me talked with one producer from here and he asked me to try to get something with a famous person and suggested to go to the exit of the MSG and interview the people who attended the concert and try to show Whitney's limo. So we did.

It was a lot of fun, asking the drivers if they were Whitney's drivers and running after the limos, but nothing and in that moment every time I stop talking with the people who went to the concert I just say that I couldn't be there, in addition in one moment I told the producer that it was like a U2 song "So close, So far".

So on Friday, after they saw me so dissapointed about the not going to concert they told me that they were going to try to make some contacts with a friend in Philadelphia to get me a free ticket, we went there and the contact was a friend of one of the producers of the program who was a hotel owner's son and we reached the hotel and waited for a couple of hours and this man came, his name was John, and he told the producer that the tickets were sold out and asked for who was the ticket, the producer introduced me and this man, a very young man, told me again the same and I thanked him and he left.

Then, they told me that they wanted to make the close of the program in the lobby of the hotel there because it was very nice (and it really was) and that I have to read some papers that the other winners in the other cities in the world were going to read the same papers. The papers say something like sometimes our dreams were just metes from us but we can make them come true but we have to insist on them because some day they would come true. I relationed all of this with the thing that I was very near the MSG and I couldn't see my idol live in concert.

They made me do this a lot of times because they wanted to be perfect and I was began to feel nervous because the takes cost me a lot to be good and I read very bad and I made mistakes, till the producer told that was the last time, and I read again the same words but now after the last paper she put a new one that says "This is..." and another one that says "Sorpresa y 1/2" (Surprise and a half). First let me explain you something, this "Sorpresa y 1/2" is a program here very similar to the "Sorpresa Sorpresa" from Spain and the one from Holland, the program consist mainly in make reality people's dreams.

So, coming back, when I saw this paper with those words, I couldn't understand anything, so I just read it and saw the faces of the producer and the cameraman who were smiling and looking after me, so I turned around and what I saw I couldn't believe my eyes, the person who were coming to me walking was WHITNEY HOUSTON, yes the one and only, (I am just trembling when I write this) she came very near me and told me "Welcome", "Welcome", "Javier, Welcome", I couldn't say anything, I was wordless, the only thing I could say was that "I have no words" all the time, she told if I knew why I was there and I told her no, so she said "you are here to see me, you are going to tonight show" and then she gave me the concert tickets from her hands.

She kissed me and hugged me and I couldn't say any coherent word. She asked If I was enjoying my staying there and things like that. Then she kissed me again and left. I was going to faint, I couldn't believe that I met my Goddess, I couldn't believe she kissed me and hugged me and that she said my name , that she pronounced my name in her beautiful mouth. With the thought of it I just cry. Then, we went to the concert in Mann Theater. The concert was very good.

The set listing were the same as any other city except that she didn't sing "OH Yes", and in one very touching moment she asked everybody to pray for John John's soul and that with the help of God they were going to find him and his wife. She was very talkative and funny in the concert, She was in a really great mood and she made some jokes with the audience. I really never saw her in that mood before in a concert, I think she is very mature now and her stage presence is incredible confident.

So after the incredible concert ( that I was still floating) we went backstage and I have another opportunity to talk with her for a little while but now more relaxed from my part. I told her what important was her in my life and that the concert was really great. And as the producer ask me previously not to stop talking I began asking her questions about the last thing I read, like that she was going to record an album in Spanish and she told me that Clive and her was thinking about it (this is very direct, from her to me, so maybe all of this Spanish thing we read lastly have something true in it) and asked her about the country album too, and she said that she loved country and maybe who knows.

And then she says some words in Spanish and joke that she knew a song in Spanish and sang a little bit. Really she was very sweet and with a very good sense of humor. After all of this she signed me an autograph in my tourbook and left. What can I say. It was the most incredible and marvelous experience in my life.

So, all of this program and the NY travel was only a excuse and all a lie to take me there and make my dream come true. After all of that I learned that one of my dear friends sent the letter to the program to make my dream.

On Sunday morning they took me to New Jersey and to the "New Hope Baptist Church" (yes the one where Nippy began singing) and i met there her mother , Ms Cissy Houston, she was so sweet and we heard the service and Cissy sang (thing that she rarely do lately in her church, someone told me). So what else I could ask for: I met Whitney, I saw her in concert again, she said my name, she signed me an autograph, I met Cissy, I knew her church where she did her first solo, her mother sang a few meters from me, and I heard a gospel choir (my fav music) sing in an American church (and what church). It was really a dream come true and altogether.

TRIVIA things:

  1. she was really in a very good mood this day.
  2. All her staff were really very sweet with me and they treated me very well, besides her assistant brought me and introduced me her sister in law cause she wanted to know me, she congratulated me and ask me a few things, really everybody was very nice with me.
  3. Whitney is taller than I thought, she was as tall as me and I am 1,80 m
  4. She is very thin but not skinny, she really has a very beautiful body. Very hard (I think a lot of gym there)
  5. Her eyes are very small
  6. She wears a lot of make-up. May be to try to hide little acne scars she has under her eyes, that is in the upper part of her cheeks. These scars are very tiny and not too many.
  7. Her hair was straight like in the INRBIO video and all her tour in America.
  8. She really smelled very good.
  9. when we talked in the hotel before the concert she was a little hoarse (thing that didn't show during the concert) but after the concert in the backstage she was clearer in her voice,
  10. I WILL ALWAYS LOVE HER!!!!!!!!!

Well, Rachel, that is more or less, my incredible experience, share it with the rest of the page visitors please. I think everybody is going to enjoy it.

I begged your pardon for the extensive that it is but I wanted to tell you as many details as I could.

If you have questions to make me please don't doubt it to make them.

On the other hand, I am trying now to get the video with all my talk with her, that it wasn't too long but it was a little longer than the one the showed on TV. Sorry to write now but they didn't allow me to tell anybody until the program was broadcasted.

Any doubt, ask me. Peace.

Javier, el fana de esa negra hermosa!!!
(ahora mas que nunca)
