Wanted to write much earlier abt the Whitney invasion in Singapore but bogged down with work commitments. And I see that Lynette has beaten me to the transcripts for the satellite video-conference that was aired here in Singapore.

I have never in the 15 years that I have followed Whitney's career seen this amount of promotion for any of her albums in Singapore. BMG Singapore has really outdone itself with the promotion for MLIYL love. Here's a rundown:

1. There are round-the-clock ads that "The Diva is Back!" on both the TV and radio. There is an early bird promotion whereby fans can pre-order MLIYL and receive a CD sized desk calendar. The calender itself is packaged to look like the MLIYL CD. There are six paper discs (each with the cover of her previous 6 releases as background) which open up to reveal the dates in each month. The mock CD is packaged in an aqua marine sleeve with a window cut out to reveal her name which appears on the calendar. There is a certificate inside the calendar which entitles you to the CD when it is released (14 Nov). All for S$16.99!. There is also a coupon which puts you into a lucky draw with prizes to either see her live in concert or attend the launch party in Singapore.

2. Went to HMV in town. There is a MASSIVE promotion of MLIYL. Eevery $50/- spent there entitles you to a Whitney postcard pack. Of course I spent $100/- and got two. Basically the pics on the postcards are those of her on the new album cover. There is also a display corner with a gigantic MLIYL poster as well as a mini-exhibition on her previous releases, achievements and trivia. The in-house video screens also constantly screen a little promotion on her with the tag 'The Diva is back!'. Further, there is a listening station which plays the promo 4-song CD that you listened to earlier. It has IARBIO, IITYT, ILFTB and WYB.

3. There was a 'Tribute to WH' special on one of the radio stations last Sun. It was a two hour show where they basically played almost every WH hit there ever was, including the four new songs on the promo CD.

4. The free postcards mentioned earlier have been pre-addressed to a local radio station requesting that they play either WYB or IARBIO on a request programme.

5. WYB is getting massive airplay.

Thus, you'd either have to be dead or either living under a rock to not know that WH has a new album out. I've personally been playing IARBIO to death. I think it's amazing. Somehow it reminds me of 'Anymore' on IYBT. I love IITYT as well, but somehow can't get over the feeling that I'm actually listening to 'The Boy Is Mine' :)

Also, if it makes you feel any better, altho' the TPOE soundtrack here credits MC first, all of the promotion stickers on the CD atually put WH's name first. That's it for now. More updates when things really start to happen.
