Press Conference Report
submitted by: Kieran D.
date: Nov. 6/98
source: online press conference

I listened to the online press conference yesterday. I think the album is very different from what we are all used to hearing from Whitney. It will be interesting to see how everyone receives it.

Personal comment-they played each song all the way through for the press who were actually there. Internet listeners had the music faded in and out on them so we could not hear complete tracks. That really sucks. Bad ARISTA! BAD!!

There wasn't much new news in the Q&A section. Here are a few items of personal interest:

  • Whitney wants to try for another baby in the very near future.
  • She is indeed working on a script with Will Smith but said she could give no more details.
  • She has pretty much decided that a more experienced actress could put more into the role of Dorothy Dandridge and will probably not play the role herself.
  • Clive said the next project from Whitney will definitely be a greatest hits package.
  • The Lauren Hill collaboration of Stevie Wonder's "I Was Made to Love [Him]" was completed after jacket design was finished. That's why it is a hidden bonus track. It was added too late to make the album cover/notes.
  • Whitney said she may do 2 or 3 of the new tracks at the Atlantic City concerts. She has the band learning all of the new tracks cause she doesn't know what she wants to do yet.
  • She said Disney wants her to do another project similar to Cinderella soon, but there no hints as to whether they even have ideas as to what the project could be.
  • Clive kept pushing how cutting edge all of the new stuff is, positioning Whitney and her collaborators as breaking new ground. I think that's their big marketing angle, seeing as they are using the slogan "Like You've Never Heard Her Before."
That's all I can remember. Hope it helps.
