National Record Mart Total Sales Rise 7.8% for September; Same-Store Sales Up for 17th Consecutive Month submitted by: Dan L. date: Thursday, October 8, 1998 from: Online News
William Teitelbaum, president and CEO,
commented, "We are pleased with comparable store
gains for this past month, considering the tough
comparisons with last September, which was up
13.4 percent over the prior year. While the video
release of Titanic boosted sales in early
September, last year's results reflected the
tremendous success of Elton John's tribute to
Princess Diana. Looking ahead, we see a
significant holiday release schedule beginning
October 20th with albums by Aerosmith, Johnny
Lang and Pavarotti & Friends and reaching a
crescendo on November 17th with new releases by
Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, Jewel, Metallica,
NAS, Seal and Garth Brooks. We're looking forward
to a strong holiday season."
