"The TBS Trumpet Awards occurred this past weekend in Atlanta, and official events began on Sunday afternoon. The informal gathering featured (many) celebs and authors.

Kareem Abdul Jabar spent the entire weekend hiding from everyone. Jabar not only refused interviews and autograph signings, but he wouldn't even eat in the ballroom with other guests. In fact, instead of dining at his assigned table, he had his dinner served to him in a small room backstage.

And as for Ms. Whitney Houston, the Pinnacle Award winner, she was in rare diva form -- even for her! Houston refused to be photographed or interviewed with the exception of a short interview from CNN. She was so adamant that no photos be taken of her, that a reporter from the Atlanta Journal-Constitution was ejected from the event for snapping her photo!

Lots of folks speculated that maybe her reluctance to be photographed had something to do with how terribly haggard and overly made up she looked, not to mention the fact that she was terribly underdressed in a black knit sweater set for the formal black-tie event.

In addition, she snubbed the show's co-host, Gladys Knight - who proved that she knows how to put a super-diva in her place. When (Houston) refused to return Knight's warm greeting (twice), Knight stated sternly 'Don't do me like that; don't do that' after which Houston finally spoke...
