SOUL TRAIN MUSIC AWARDS! submitted by: Seng Soon Y. Date: Feb 25/98 from: Billboard Online Janet Jackson, Sean "Puff Daddy" Combs, Boyz II Men, and God's Property From Kirk Franklin's Nu Nation will be among the performers at the 12th annual Soul Train Music Awards, to be held Friday at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles. Usher and Dru Hill with Da Brat and Jermaine Dupri are also scheduled to perform at the event, which will be cohosted by Patti Labelle, Erykah Badu, and rapper Heavy D. In addition, Badu, Ronnie Isley, Monica, and Kenny Lattimore will join in a musical tribute to Whitney Houston, who will receive this year's Quincy Jones Award for career achievement. As earlier reported, Combs leads the 12th annual Soul Train Music Awards with five nominations; during the honors show he also will be presented with the 1998 Sammy Davis Jr. Award for entertainer of the year. Badu and God's Property have received four nominations each, with Mary J. Blige and the late Notorious B.I.G. coming in with three each.
