Fourth Annual International Achievement in Arts Awards date: Monday, October 12, 1998 from: Entertainment Tonight
Wedding fever hits Hollywood, plus Whitney Houston, inside her home recording studio and out on the town with her little girl as Whitney gets jiggy with Will Smith. While it seemed like half of Hollywood was making wedding plans, for Whitney Houston and her husband, were honoring Mariah Carey and Will Smith. The party is on. It's on! Reporter: When Whitney Houston took the stage, she set the tone for the tonight. But it was a family affair. Reporter: It was fitting that their daughter was the center of attention. The international achievement in arts award benefits the Whitney Houston for children. She is our inspiration for things that we do, that we love most. Reporter: The evening paid tribute to Mariah Carey and Will Smith. Will teased Whitney about his award which follows a year of being honored for his acting and singing. Of all the awards that I've received, this is the most recent. [ Laughter ] Reporter: The evening came at a high point in Whitney's life. She is about to release her first non-soundtrack studio album in eight years. Some (...) Reporter: "E.T." Was invited into her private studio and she recorded a song with Kelly price and faith Evans. Those girls can sing, sing, sing. Reporter: Whitney sings a duet on Mariah Carey. She hopes it will put an end to rumors that they are dueling divas. This is music, not boxing. MC: It was so great to be working with Whitney. Whitney's new album, with help from Mariah, babyface and many others, hits stores on November 17th.
