Stars Glittered Last Night at AmFAR's Landmark Fundraising Gala Honoring Clive Davis, Tom Hanks and Barbara Walters

NEW YORK--(ENTERTAINMENT WIRE)--Dec. 2, 1998--Clive Davis' golden touch sparkled especially bright last night at the elegant AmFAR Season of Hope gala as he was honored along with two other remarkable humanitarians, Barbara Walters and Tom Hanks.

With tremendous support from the music industry and the Hollywood community, last evening's event at the Winter Garden was AmFAR's most successful fundraising dinner, amassing $2 million for AIDS research. Sharon Stone hosted the night, while members of the Clive Davis/Arista family were out in force. Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds and Antonio L.A. Reid introduced the surprise performer of the night, Arista's first artist Barry Manilow.

Sean "Puffy" Combs took over the stage next with his brigade -- Mase, 112, Faith Evans and a stirring gospel choir. Superstar Whitney Houston was joined onstage by Wyclef Jean for an exciting impromptu performance of the title track from her newest album My Love Is Your Love. She closed the wonderful evening by dedicating a very personal, stirring rendition of "I Will Always Love You" to Clive.

An incredible group of musical luminaries glittered the crowd as well including Wyclef Jean, Mary J. Blige, Ahmet and Mica Ertegun, Diane Warren, David Foster and Phil Ramone. The Hollywood community came in force as well with Christian Slater, Penny Marshall, Kevin Kline, Phoebe Cates, Michael Eisner, Robert Iger, Ron Howard, Rosie O'Donnell, Patricia Neal, Rita Wilson plus Martha Stewart, Graydon Carter, Valentino, and Ananda Lewis all in attendance.
