Dear Rachel, Hi there, this is Patrick. I just wanted to let you know (in case you hadn't heard), Whitney and Cissy WERE on the TODAY show this morning, May 6th, 1998. I actually caught them by accident flipping channels. I had kept my eye on TODAY throughout the morning, but they didn't come on until 8:35... almost at the end of the show. In any event, our girl was FLAWLESS as usual, and Cissy looked well.

From what I had gathered from the interview, the majority of the topic was about Whitney and Cissy's gospel roots and faith. Cissy did most of the talking, as she is promoting her new book, with a foreward from Whitney! Whitney had on a sharp brown pinstripe suit, and Cissy had on what looked like a black two piece dress. There were close-up shots of Whitney holding and rubbing Cissy's hand, and Whitney's leg actually appeared to be crossed on top of Cissy. Anyone could tell from both the physical and unspoken body language that these two are very close and love each other very much.

What seemed like out of respect, Whitney let Cissy do most of the talking, even letting her answer questions that I think Katie Couric was directing at Whitney. At the end of the interview, Katie asked how Whitney was doing, as well as Bobby and Bobbi Kristina. Whitney was gracious and appreciative, and in return asked how Katie was doing (in light of Katie's husband's recent death). Whitney had also said that Katie was in her prayers (which I thought was so nice).

It was a great interview - it almost looked like Whitney was going to cry when Cissy had answered a question about how hard the business is and how all of the gossip hurts not only Whitney deeply, but Cissy and the entire family as well. All in all a great interview...
