Whitney and Bobby Taking Tokyo?
submitted by: Lisa D. and Chandra C.
from: Sister 2 Sister Magazine
date: May 26/98

I just got a copy of the July "sister 2 sister" mag, and on page 18 there is news about Whitney & Bobby :

Whitney and Bobby taking tokyo?
I hear that Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown will be touring over in japan probably in august or september. They'll perform in ten different places in japan. Whitney and Bobby are doing two dates in tokyo, which will be their last stop. There will be singers from seven countries performing at the finale concert in Tokyo. It will broadcast all over the world.

Every body is talking about "Anything for you", the movie that Whitney and Will Smith are doing together. It's a romantic comedy. Universal Pictures won't start shooting that until later this year.

On page 81 more news: (Dorothy Dandridge) The battle to play Dorothy Dandridge

The battle to play Dorothy Dandridge

The word is that Halle Berry is starring in the Dorothy Dandridge story. And she is even doing her own vocals! But there's a conflict there because everybody knows that Whitney Houston has the rights to that story.

Well, I talked to Whitney's folks and they said that Halle is portraying Dorothy for an HBO picture. The movie is still in the developmental stages; they haven't even started shooting or anything yet. So Whitney is still doing her version of the Dorothy Dandridge story. Her movie is a feature. Right now Whitney's production company is switching movie studios and they're not sure when production will begin.

Betty Shabazz Tribute [that is Malcolm X's widow]

Additionally,
Jamie Foster Brown, of Sister 2 Sister Magazine has finished writing a book called "Betty Shabazz: A Tribute from her Sisterfriends' in Words and Pictures." It includes tributes from her girlfriends as well as "superstar ladies like Whitney Houston, CeCe Winans, Maya Angelou, T-Boz, Mary J. Blige, Ananda Lewis, Brandy, Patti LaBelle, Gloria Steinem, Dr. C. Delores Tucker, and more. It is published by Simon & Schuster and will be on sale June 29th.

**NOTE: The article does not mention the length or scope of Whitney's tribute. I'm not expecting anything lengthy, as this is a book about Betty Shabazz, and is not a showcase for Whitney.
