BET Honors Babyface
date: Friday, October 3, 1997; Page B03
from: The Washington Post

Whitney Houston got last year's star in the sidewalk outside the corporate offices of Black Entertainment Television. This year, the honor for contributions to the music video industry goes to writer and singer Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds. He's already gained multiple Grammys for the hits he's written for Toni Braxton, Eric Clapton, Celine Dion and Aretha Franklin. Tonight, he'll sing at a black-tie gala to benefit the United Negro College Fund at BET.

Here for the party are his wife, Tracey Edmonds, executive producer of the current hit movie "Soul Food"; his partner, L.A. Reid; and his drummer, Sheila E.
