Houston, Brown try to get real submitted by: Lisa D. source: USA Today Date: April 4, 2004 By Karen Thomas, USA TODAY Bobby Brown is shooting a new reality TV series — co-starring his wife, Whitney Houston — that he's hoping to sell to a network. Film crews with Brown's Atlanta-based company, B2 Entertainment, followed the troubled couple — she's in rehab; he just got out of jail — while dining out last week with their daughter, Bobbi Kristina, 11. "It's Bobby's project, and he's her husband," says Houston spokeswoman Nancy Seltzer. "Of course she would do it with him." The Houston-Brown family (including the family dog) was filmed dining on lobsters and steaks at the Palm Restaurant last Monday, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. The following evening, a five-member crew filmed Houston as she sang Happy Birthday to a fellow diner at Atlanta's Prime restaurant. (Houston also got a speeding ticket that day while taking her daughter to school.) Houston, who announced March 15 that she had entered a drug rehab center, "had her counselors with her at the restaurants," Seltzer says. The singer is in "a private facility" where treatment includes "approved outings" accompanied by counselors, Seltzer says. Houston also attended the Ladies First concert (Beyoncé, Alicia Keys and Missy Elliott) in Atlanta on March 28. But the singer, 40, will not be in New York tonight, where her mother, gospel singer Cissy Houston, is hosting a prayer vigil for her daughter at Harlem's famed Abyssinian Baptist Church. As for Brown: No word on whether cameras will follow him at his court appearance May 5 on battery charges stemming from an altercation with Houston last December. The R&B singer, 35, was most recently released from a Massachusetts jail March 26 after one night. He had been ordered held for 90 days, or until he could pay $63,500 in back child support to Kim Ward, mother of two of his adolescent children, which he then paid. He also recently served a 60-day sentence in Atlanta for probation violation.
