Bobby Brown Back In Jail submitted by: Lisa D. source: MTV Date: February 23, 2004 Singer Bobby Brown is back in jail after being found in violation of his probation by a DeKalb County court judge late Friday afternoon. According to the office of Judge Wayne Purdom, Brown was ordered to the DeKalb County Jail without bond until this coming Friday, when he will face a continuation of his probation-violation hearing. When he appears in court Friday, Brown, 35, will be allowed to explain why he didn't comply with the conditions of his probation. Judge Purdom found Brown in violation of several conditions of his release, including refusing to submit to a drug test, failing to pay his court-supervision fees in a timely manner, failing to provide proof that he completed his substance-abuse rehabilitation program and not complying with the terms of his house arrest. In addition, Brown failed to steer clear of more trouble, another reason why the judge ordered the singer back to jail. In December, he was charged with misdemeanor battery for allegedly striking his wife, Whitney Houston, following an argument. He is scheduled for a May 5 preliminary hearing in that case. Brown has been on probation since being convicted of drunk driving in January 2003 stemming from an incident in 1996. He was sentenced to 14 days in jail last August for violating his probation, but was released for good behavior after seven days. --Joseph Patel
