MOSCOW, January 12 -- U.S. pop star Whitney Houston is expected to visit Russia, that is her long cherished dream. The singer will give a concert in St. Petersburg on February followed by two concerts in the Kremlin concert hall in Moscow on February 10,11.

Whitney Houston's concert tour to Russia was planned a long time ago, but for some reason was delayed. This time, the singer is hoped to keep her promise. Whitney Houston still enjoys immense popularity, and she is one of the most highly paid singers. She asked a little over a million dollars for her concerts in Russia. Apart from rather a high fee, the U.S. singer has made certain conditions that were outlined in a long list in her contract. The organizers of Whitney Houston show in Russia fear that they might have to paint the backstage of the Kremlin palace white because the singer dislikes being in darkness.

Russian admirers of the celebrated singer are to pay from 200 to 1,300 dollars per ticket. Nonetheless, the organizers have assured that despite a high ticket price the audiences will not be disappointed because the pop star from the overseas included the best songs from her repertoire in the programme of the Russian concerts.

Whitney Houston - the winner of six Grammy awards, is known as a movie actress. The singer was awarded numerous cinematography prizes for a part in The Bodyguard where she starred with Kevin Kostner. The soundtrack to the film proved to be the most popular music bestseller in history. A few songs from The Bodyguard will be performed in Russia.

Russia's Whitney Houston fans to pay 1,300 dlrs for Moscow shows

MOSCOW, Jan 12 -- Russian fans of Whitney Houston will pay up to 1,300 dollars, or nearly 10 times the country's average monthly wage, per ticket when the US singer performs at the Kremlin Palace in Moscow next month, media reported Monday.

The cheapest seats for the February 10 and 11 concerts in the 5,000-seat concert hall will go for 200 dollars, organisers said, as reported by the ITAR-TASS news agency.

The concerts, along with a third concert in Saint Petersburg, are expected to be sell-outs, the organizers said.

Houston is reportedly to receive more than a million dollars for the three concerts.

One of the world's most popular singers, she has not visited Russia before.

The average monthly wage in Russia is around 150 dollars, though the figure in Moscow is closer to 1,000 dollars, with wide disparities between the wealthy and the poor.
