INSIDE TRACK; Complaint slaps Bobby for back child support submitted by: Lisa D. source: The Boston Herald Date: December 12, 2003 By GAYLE FEE and LAURA RAPOSA with Sean Westmoreland There's more trouble for Roxbury homey Bobby Brown, who was charged the other day with whacking his superstar wife, Whitney Houston, in the face - the Stoughton mother of two of his kids has gone to court demanding $ 40,000 in back child support. Kim Ward, mother of LaPrincia, 14, and Bobby Jr., 12, claims Brown - who is under court order to pay $ 5,500 a month in child support - is a deadbeat dad. "We went into court Dec. 5 on a complaint for contempt," said Ward's attorney, Kevin Connolly. "He failed to appear. We are considering all the options available to apprehend him and force him to appear." Brown fathered Ward's two children before he married Houston, his wife of 11 years, whom he is currently charged with battering. Georgia authorities are also investigating whether the former New Edition singer violated his probation when he allegedly hit Houston. Brown is on probation until Feb. 17, 2005, for a drunken-driving conviction. The 34-year-old Brown was charged with misdemeanor battery Wednesday, three days after he allegedly hit his bride. He's scheduled to appear at a hearing Jan. 7 and faces a year in jail and a $ 1,000 fine. Kevin Batye, chief probation officer for DeKalb County, told the Associated Press that after seeking information from neighboring Fulton County, where the alleged fight occurred, his office will make a recommendation to a judge on Brown's probation. If a violation is found, it could send Brown to jail - again. Brown's latest woes began last Sunday when Houston called police to her suburban Atlanta home and reported her hubby told her he was going to "beat her ass," then struck her on the left side of her face. The "I Will Always Love You" singer had a bruise on her left cheek and a cut upper lip. Someone needs to ring up The Bodyguard! Houston, 40, and Brown have been married since 1992. They have a 10-year-old daughter, Bobbi Kristina. Of course, if the couple is on the outs, THAT could explain the delay in child support payments to Ward. Sources say Whitney sends all the checks. And apparently feels that stopping payment is Her Prerogative!
