Whitney Files Complaint Vs Radio Station submitted by: Jenn, Lisa D. source: Philadelphia Daily News Date: July 24, 2003 Stu Bykofsky / Whitney vs. The Beat; Singer Upset By On-Air Remarks SUPERSTAR WHITNEY Houston isn't feeling the greatest love of all for 103.9 The Beat. The singer has issued a complaint against the station over comments made several weeks ago on the "Jonesy in the A.M." show. Houston's attorney Marty Singer said Tuesday, "A claim has been made over comments [by Jonesy] about Whitney Houston's family." Jonesy hasn't been on-air since July 10. The station says she's on vacation. A station source yesterday said Jonesy's remarks - concerning Houston's daughter and Houston's brother - referenced a story Jonesy said was being written by a supermarket tabloid. Singer said Jonesy's remarks were "completely fabricated" and go "beyond the scope of defamation." Singer yesterday declined to comment further because the involved parties are in discussions. Attorneys for The Beat's parent company, Radio One, declined to comment. Calls to station GM Lynn Bruder were not returned. Jonesy declined comment.
