BMG's Arista Records Produces Special Compilation CD to be Sold Exclusively at Ann Taylor Stores; Kenny G to Perform at American's Annual Celebrity Golf Tournament to Benefit Susan G. Komen Foundation

NEW YORK, Sept. 29 -- BMG Entertainment, the worldwide music entertainment division of Bertelsmann AG, announced today a comprehensive, multi-tier promotion with partners American Airlines, Arista Records and Ann Taylor to support breast cancer research and education during Breast Cancer Awareness month. Arista Records have produced an enhanced compilation CD for its partners Network Music and Ann Taylor, featuring an all-star lineup of the label's female musical artists including Aretha Franklin, Whitney Houston, Toni Braxton, Annie Lennox, Lisa Stansfield and Angie Stone, among others. Net profits from the sale of the CD will benefit the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to advancing research, education, screening and treatment for breast cancer.

The CD's will be available exclusively at Ann Taylor and Ann Taylor Loft retail stores starting in October and will contain breast self-examination cards. Consumers will also get a sampling of the compilation while they shop during the month of October and throughout the holidays via in-store play. The enhanced CD will feature links to Web sites for American Airlines, AAdvantage, AA Vacations, Arista Records and BMG Entertainment's click2music.com.

American Airlines will reach its consumer base through a multi-media marketing campaign that will include advertisement for the compilation in their in-flight magazine, American Way, in their in-flight video program, CBS Eye on American and tent cards in American's Admirals Clubs and Travel Centers nationwide. In addition, with the purchase of the CD, American will offer 500 frequent flyer miles to its AAdvantage members and a chance to win a trip to the Caribbean. American will also promote the program to its 4.5 million AAdvantage Members through their AAdvantage newsletter during the months of October, November and December.

As part of their tireless support for breast cancer research, American Airlines will host for the sixth year, The American Celebrity Golf Tournament, to be held in Newport Beach, CA from October 5-8, 2000 to benefit the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. Arista Records recording artist Kenny G will perform songs from his forthcoming record.

"BMG is proud to help make this important initiative a reality," said Scott Richman, Vice President, Partnership Marketing, BMG Entertainment. "By leveraging Arista's peerless roster of talent with American Airlines' and Ann Taylor's extraordinary reach into the marketplace, together we can create awareness and contribute research dollars to this important cause."

"Arista Records is extremely proud of its involvement in the development of the Ann Taylor CD for the second consecutive year," said Chrissie Lindsey, Senior Director, Special Markets, Arista Records. The artists enthusiastically agree to participate when they know the proceeds from the sale of the CD will go to such a worthy cause. This year, with the help of BMG, we were able to include American Airlines as one of the partners in the fight against breast cancer. American's in-flight media exposure and offered incentives featured in the CD will generate increased consumer awareness and appeal to ensure greater sales. We anticipate a very successful campaign due to the effort and contribution made by all of the involved partners."

"American Airlines is delighted to partner with BMG Entertainment and Ann Taylor stores to raise money for such a worthy cause. American and our dedicated employees have taken a leading role with the Komen Foundation in educating women in the importance of early detection and in providing educational materials to thousands of women across the country," said Tom Gleason, Regional Vice President Passenger Sales, American Airlines.

"The fight against breast cancer is so important," said Patti DeRosa, President of Ann Taylor. "We are pleased to have the opportunity to partner with BMG and American Airlines, to provide our clients with a way to enjoy the music of legendary performers, and support the Susan G. Komen Foundation's efforts."
