Fun Radio Airs Whitney Special, Interview Clips
submitted by: Eddy VB

source: Fun Radio
Date: June 9, 2000

Fun Radio broadcasted their much-anticipated exclusive Whitney Houston interview today. In fact, they broadcasted a Whitney Houston special for one hour, with excerpts from a (pre-recorded) interview from last year. They played the following songs (in chronological order):

I Learned From The Best
I'm Every Woman
I Will Always Love You
Greatest Love Of All (remix)
Exhale (Shoop Shoop)
Heartbreak hotel
When You Believe
It's Not Right But It's Okay
I'm Your Baby Tonight (remix)
My Love Is Your Love (unreleased live version, though it sounds familiar to me, probably the DVD-version)
If I Told You That

Interview Topics:

1. The collaboration with Clive Davis (Whitney about Clive: "We love the same music, we are both romantic."
2. Her first performance on television (same story as on the DVD -- Cissy conducting the orchestra in the background on the Merv Griffin show)
3. The first meeting with Kevin Costner ("most important moment in my career")
4. Who actually chose the song "I Will Always Love You" for "The Bodyguard" soundtrack
5. Working with Babyface on the soundtrack of "Waiting to Exhale"
6. The relationship with Mariah Carey (Whitney likes Mariah very much: Mariah is sweet, adorable and so on...)
7. How does it feel to be No. 1 ?
8. Whitney Houston compared to the Beatles and Elvis (Whitney sings one line of "You Ain't Nothing But a Hound Dog.").

Unfortunately the interview was ruined by the French translation. In fact, most of the time Whitney's voice was hardly audible, thanks to simultaneous translation in French. This interview revealed nothing new for die-hard fans. I've heard it all before. But this program is excellent example of how Whitney's music should be promoted around the world.
