Bobby ready to war as Rosie O'Donnell dogged Whitney

We all know that Rosie O'Donnell dogged Whitney Houston during the Grammy
awards. She talked about Whitney being caught with marijuana in her bag
before boarding a plane to leave Hawaii. When the camera panned Whitney,
you saw Bobby Brown (who will always protect his friends and family) looking
to see how his wife was taking it. Whitney was giving Rosie the finger,
which the camera tried not to show. [This bit is incorrect. As we know
audience members around her said she was merely shaking her fist, as planned.]
Then Rosie made a derogatory statement about Whitney thanking God for
her Grammy. Rosie said something like, "Do you really think God cares
about Whitney Houston getting a Grammy?"
Well, I was hanging out backstage with Whitney and Bobby before they went
out in the audience. I was still there with Whitney's mom, relatives,
dancers and friends when they came back. Whitney seemed to let most of
Rosie's jabs roll off her back. She was laughing and taking pictures with
everyone. In fact, I didn't even know that Rosie had done her dirty.
Whitney's mom Cissy Houston was, however, complaining that comedians always
have to hurt other people's feelings just to get a laugh. She said that
to me after Rosie made a wise crack about Madonna and before Rosie acted
up saying "Aloha" to Whitney.
Anyhoo, after the Grammys, Cissy and her daughter-in-law, Donna Houston,
went off to eat at Roscoe's Chicken and Waffles. Whitney was backstage
asking where she could find Lefteye's party and playing with Monica saying
Monica was like her daughter. (Whitney said, "Child, these children call
me for everything." And it is true that a lot of folks depend on Whitney.)
I went off to party at the BMG party, which was absolutely exquisite.
The following week I talked to Bobby. I asked how he and Whitney handled
Rosie's mean- spirited comments. Here is what he had to say about the
whole thing. "We told Rosie earlier that day in rehearsal for the Grammys
not to say that sh#t." He said they specifically told Rosie not to say
that about them. They also told her not to say the stuff she said about
Puffy. (Rosie dogged Puffy, too, saying "Puffy has left the building;
I feel much safer now.") Bobby said, "And it wasn't funny to nobody. Nobody
enjoyed the joke that she enjoyed."
He went on to say, "So to me, it seemed like it was personal and I don't
like personal sh#t. Because we can get down if we have to. You know me."
