The
first charts of the year of Billboard magazine are unpublished.
Before the SoundScan/Broadcast Data Systems era, the charts were
considered to be "frozen", as radio stations did not submit playlists
and sales data from record stores were not collected during this
week. However, since SoundScan monitors sales and BDS keeps track
of airplay 24/7, charts could now be compiled during the "traditional"
frozen week.
So, for the week ending January 1, 2000, "My Love Is Your Love"
once again achieves a new peak position on the Billboard Hot 100
at No. 4 with a bullet up from No. 5! The platinum single also
continues its chart reversal, as it marches up 5 notches back
into the Top Ten, bulleted, at No. 10 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles
& Tracks list. The song slides to No.9 in Hot
100 Airplay, but gets a boost back to No. 4 in Hot 100 Sales.
Also, "My Love", the album,
moves up five spots, unbulleted, to No. 94 on the Billboard 200.
Separately, "I Learned From The Best" moves up to No.65
on the R&B/Hip-Hop Singles chart, and up to No. 60 on the R&B/Hip-Hop
Airplay chart without the benefit of a commercial single. (Many
thanks Rob N., Roger S., Domen, Leon)

The
MLIYL album is up to No. 21 from No. 23 on the French chart. The
album has not been out of the Top 24 Albums for 6 months! On the
singles side, "It's Not Right But It's Okay" is up to No. 22 from
No. 24 and "My Love Is Your Love" slips to No. 63 from No. 50. The
new single is one of the most played songs on French radio stations,
so the single should reach a new peak position next week. (Thanks
Julian)
Whitney's ILFTB has entered the German Airplay Chart Top 20 at No.
14. The song also rises to No. 50 on the German Singles Chart. The
album holds its ground at No. 32. (Thanks Maharaj V.) |
| 99/12/13 |
From
Radio & Records Online: Last week it was reported that ILFTB
was submited to R&B stations for adds. It is now the second
most-added song this week with 52 R&B stations adding it to
their playlist. On the AC-Urban charts, ILFTB moves up eight spots
to No. 22 with five more AC-Urban stations adding the song to their
playlist. On the Adult Contemporary charts, the news is just as
good. Whitney ranked third for most adds this week on the AC charts
with 14 more stations adding the song to their playlists. Look for
the song to make it's debut next week on the Top 30 Adult Contemporary
charts. It's currently ranked at No. 31!
For those who aren't familiar with Radio & Records Magazine, it
is similar to Billboard except it only takes airplay into account,
whereas Billboard factors both airplay and singles sales. If you
were to compare Billboard's airplay charts with R&R, you'd see that
they match about 99% of the time.
Here are some of the year-end charts:
Urban Charts (R&B)
1)Case- Happily ever after
2)Jesse Powel- You
3)112- Anywhere
4)Tyrese- Sweet Lady
5)Maxwell- Fortunate
6)TLC- No Scrubs
7)Silk- If you
8)Lauryn Hill- Ex-factor
9)Whitney Houston - Heartbreak Hotel
10)Eric Benet- Spend my life w/you
40)Whitney Houston - It's Not Right But It's Okay
51)Whitney Houston - My Love Is Your Love
On the AC-Urban charts, HH was at No. 7 and MLIYL was at No. 30
for the year. (Thanks
Tony V.)
MLIYL holds at No. 2 on the listener's Top 40 on Energy Radio Toronto
Canada. (Thanks Rachel) |
