Whitney's "It's Not Right" enjoys a sales boost that takes the single to #4 on the main singles chart. "It's Not Right" is Whitney's 18th top 5 hit and has matched the peak of "I'm Every Woman," "I Have Nothing," and "I Believe In You And Me." Until now, Whitney has not generated two top 5 hits from a single album since "The Bodyguard" in 1993. "It's Not Right" is #4 in sales, selling 76,000 copies and registering the largest increase again this week, but fails to garner a significant gain at radio this week for the first time, stalling at #15. (submitted by: L.N.)

According to ARIA (Australian Record Industry Assoc.) "Heartbreak Hotel" has entered the Australian singles chart with "Heartbreak Hotel" at number 38. This is refreshing as "INRBIOK" did not even make the top 50. Good luck to Whitney Houston! (submitted by: Tin N.)

Whitney with MY love is Your Love is currently number 11 on the European Top 20 on Mtv. The album sales increase a lot in Germany. There are also billboard in the street for the concerts in Mannheim 28 th August. Let's hope that the sales in USA become the same as Germany :shame on you Americans !!! Great news from Germany: According to MusiKWoche (German music paper)Whitney's new single "My love is your love" climbs in its third week from No. 39 over No. 14 to No. 5. That means that "My love is your love" is Whitney's biggest hit in Germany since "I will always love you" in 1992/1993. Moreover the album "My love is your love" climbs from No. 11 to No. 8 and thus reaches a new peak position. I always knew that the releease of "My love is your love" as a single would bring the album back to the top of the charts. That's the case in Europe. Hopefully soon in the United States, too. (submitted by: Matthias)

I have just returned from my classtrip and if you don't know yet, MLIYL (the single) moved from 14 to 5!!! That's her biggest hit in Germany since IWALY (SBS and WYB both reached number 8)! MLIYL (the album) jumped from 11 to 8! (submitted by: Claudia B.)

Up, Up, Up. This single seems to be aiming at capturing the pole positions on many of the European Charts. (submitted by: Trevor P.)

    99/6/22
The release of a regular CD/cassette single format to join the previously released extended formats for Whitney's "It's Not Right But It's Okay" gives it the chart's largest sales increase and moves it on the cusp of the top 10 to #11. It ranks #11 in sales (up from #21) and sold 42,000 copies, 25% of which were of the extended version and 75% the regular. It's at #15 at radio and enters the top 10 on the black singles chart at #8. 1) MLIYL (the Single) enters the Swiss Charts at #12.

    99/6/18

    Chart Confusion?
L.N. previously said that the last solo Top Twenty single from Whitney was "Exhale" which is actually wrong. "I Believe in You and Me" was in the Top Ten (it debuted at #7), and "Step By Step" hit Number 18, I believe. Since "Step By Step" is one of my favorites, I didn't want its accomplishments to go unnoticed. (These numbers are from the Billboard Hot 100, if anyone wonders.) (submitted by: Kelly F.)

The answer: This report you read was refferring to Top Ten Radio Airplay charts, not Hot 100 Charts. So L.N.'s Chart Report was indeed accurate. (submitted by: RTWM)

I was just reading the correction you posted about Whitney's single step by step. I just wanted to note that the single did not peak at 18, but at number 15. It debuted at 22 and in the next week moved to 15 where is stayed for two weeks before peaking there. (submitted by: Marc B.)

    99/6/14
On this weekend's broadcast of the World Chart Show (June 12/13, 1999), "It's Not Right But It's Okay" slides only 3 notches to No. 25. (submitted by: Rob N.)

MOVING ON UP THE CHARTS IN THE UK!!
According to Radio 1, Official Top 40, Whitney has moved up the UK charts again this week, from number 13 to number 10!!!! I also forgot to mention that last week despite falling 3, sales had increased from the previous week!! Also, I read that sales now exceed 650,000 in the UK (but this isn't definite)!! (submitted by: Craig S.)

According to Radio 1, the release date for the "My Love Is Your Love" single has been put back from the 21st of June to the 28th in the UK. Also, Whitney's album has moved back to number 10 this week on the UK charts! Go Whitney! (submitted by: Bryn)

According to MTV, MLIYL has entered the MTV R'n'B UK charts at number 6, that is BEFORE sales have started!! Good News!!
Also, a little extra, Trevor Nelson, the presenter, who last night was presenting with Tyrese from the US Jam chart, said it was his favourite tune so far this year!!!! High Praise!! (submitted by: Craig S.)

World Chart Show update for last weekend's broadcast (June 5/6, 1999): "It's Not Right But It's Okay" continues its slow descent globally, slipping 4 notches to No. 22. (submitted by: Rob N.)

    L.N.'s Chart Analysis.

    99/6/06
News form dotmusic.com: Her album doesn't know where to go, after approx 26 weeks, she is now standing at No.13, a fall of three this week, giving way to big new releases. INRBIOK, is finally about to slip from our chart, as it falls 7 to number 65, in it's 15th, count em, week. This has been a mega hit for Whitney in the UK and currently sees her 8th in the year to date chart!! (submitted by: Craig S.)

Here in Canada, Whitney's single is burning up the charts. On the Toronto based Energy Radio's Top 20, INRBIO was noted as this week's greatest mover going from #22 to #8. They've been playing this single non-stop for about two weeks. Also, MuchMoreMusic Canada has begun to play the smooth remix INRBIO video. (submitted by: Brad H.)

For the week ending June 12, 1999, "It's Not Right But It's Okay" explodes 11 notches to No. 21 on the Billboard Hot 100. As "Okay" climbs, "Heartbreak Hotel" slides 8 spots to No. 23. Over on the Hot R&B Singles & Tracks, "Okay" leaps up 12 big places to land at No. 14. Meanwhile, on the Billboard 200, "My Love Is Your Love" slips 7 positions to No. 54. (submitted by: Rob N.)

I think it's time for Arista to realise a new single in france. "Heartbreack hotel" is out of the top 50 for the first time this week (57) The album is up one place to #45. (submitted by: Julian S.)

    99/6/02

Anyway, this is just to keep you updated on a few Billboard charts for the week ending June 5, 1999:
    • In its 27th week on the Billboard 200, "My Love Is Your Love" slips 5 notches to No. 42.
    • In its 24th week on the Billboard Hot 100, "Heartbreak Hotel" moves down 4 spots to No. 15. As well, "It's Not Right But It's Okay" leaps 18 big positions to land at No. 32 in its 5th week on the chart.
    • The criteria for the Billboard Hot 100 has changed slightly. Points are now based on a 70%/30% ratio of airplay to sales data. Due to a rise in single sales, Billboard revised the former 75/25 formula introduced in the December 5, 1998 issue.

    99/5/29
Whitney's "It's Not Right But It's Okay" stalls at #50* for a second week on the singles chart. It debuts at #36* in the composite top 40 pop radio genre this week and ranks #28* on the black singles chart. My understanding is that there is no way "It's Not Right" can be given a sales boost, since it has already been released on the "Heartbreak Hotel" single and that singles sales points are now and will always be applied to "Heartbreak Hotel"'s singles chart position. "Heartbreak Hotel" is #11 on the singles chart this week. "It's Not Right" may be the last single worked from the "My Love Is Your Love" album, which ranks #42 in its 26th week on the albums chart. Arista Records has announced that Whitney will release her greatest hits set this coming fall. With the two albums coming in such close succession, it's possible that a song from "My Love" will be put on the hits set and worked as a single to promote both projects. (submitted by: L.N.)

Whitney is again with INRBIO in the first ten places in the SPANISH CHART!. After reaching #1, INRBIO was slipping down the chart little by little, but now has climbed again to #9. This single is selling really well in SPAIN!!!. (submitted by: Laura X.?)
