Great news from the UK!! "It's Not Right But It's Okay" debuted at #3 in the
singles chart, a very good position. AND the album has gone up again! It is up
15 places to #22! Now this is MLIYL's highest position here!! The previous
peak was #27 which was the albums debut position. MLIYL should climb again
next week too as it is really going up loads each week. YES!!! She's back!!
(submitted by: Chris W.)
INRBIO sold 161,500 copies last
week in the UK. 4/5 weeks this would easily be #1
which just proves how tough the competition was.
This will be one of her biggest sellers!

INRBIOK debutted way up on the UK charts. It captured the # 1 spot on the R&B charts and
entered at the #3 spot on the Pop Singles charts. You could check out this information and more at:
www.dotmusic.com.

On last weekend's broadcast of the World Chart
Show (February 28, 1999), "It's Not Right But It's Okay" rose from #20 to #14.

Just wanted to make sure everyone knows that
Whitney has 2 of the top 20 Dance songs. HH is at
#9 while INRBIOK holds on to #18. This is
fabulous, it shows that Whitney's attempts to
grab onto a younger, hipper audience is taking
shape. I just wish it would translate into higher
album sales.

It's Not Right But It's Okay looks set to enter the UK singles charts at #3 tomorrow (Sunday). Britney Spears is still selling in large
quantities and Blur released their new single this week. However, despite what Arista may have
hoped for, #3 is a brilliant position for Whitney to get to:- her highest since I Have Nothing and
her joint 5th highest chart position in the UK ever if it enters at #3 on Sunday.

Here are additional Billboard updates for the week ending March 6, 1999:
Billboard Hot 100: "When You Believe"
continues its descent, as it slides down 7 notches from No. 24 to No. 31.
Hot Dance Music / Club Play: "It's Not Right But
It's Okay" tumbles 10 spots from No. 8 to No. 18.
Adult Contemporary: "When You Believe" slips only
one position from No. 7 to No. 8.

Well, you gotta give props to R&B radio for fully
supporting "Heartbreak Hotel", as it spends its
fourth consecutive week at No. 1 on the Billboard
Hot R&B Singles & Tracks (for the week ending
March 6, 1999). Obviously, fans spanning many
genres are buying the single, helping it to remain
atop the chart as well as garnering the Power
Pick/Sales award on the Billboard Hot 100 (its
third time in four weeks!).

On last weekend's broadcast of the World Chart
Show (February 20/21, 1999), "It's Not Right But
It's Okay" rose another 5 notches from No. 25 to
No. 20. "When You Believe" still remains popular
globally, slipping only 2 spots from No. 10 to No. 12.

According to DotMusic, "My Love Is Your Love" has shot up 21 places in the
UK album chart!!!!! It was #58 last week and is
now #37!! (Its 3rd highest position in its 14
week run!) Go Whitney!!! It's positions are now:
27,36,51,56,55,54,71,62,57,51,60,56,58,37!!
I knew the Brits would help the album but I had
no idea it would go up so much! I think this is
the highest climber of the week. (o:
On the singles chart WYB slip 7 to 67 on its 11th
week. Once again, this is an excellent chart run
for a single in the UK. INRBIO is out next week
so we should see the album go up even more and a
very high new entry on the singles chart!

Make it 3 consecutive weeks for "Heartbreak
Hotel", as the gold single remains atop the
Billboard Hot R&B Singles & Tracks chart for the
week ending February 27, 1999. Additionally,
"When You Believe" holds at No. 7 on the Adult
Comtemporary list, while "It's Not Right But It's
Okay" slips only 1 notch from No. 7 to No. 8 on
the Hot Dance Music / Club Play tally. This small
slide on the dance charts attests to the
popularity of the song, as the chart is quite
dynamic. Dance tracks may see meteoric rises to
the top, but usually experience similar drops as
well.

H/H has moved to #3, "with a bullet", on the
Billboard Top 100 Singles charts. The single is
expeted to remain at the top of the R&B Charts.
One very good source told me that Arista is doing
a lot of promotional work with radio stations to
promote Nippy and her CDs. The person acknowledged
that Nippy has sold more CD for Arista than any
other artist and that Clive Davis will do
everything to make sure that she captures the Top
spot with H/H. Very huge contest are being planned
in the US with at least 2 radio stations! I don't
want to say too much as I'm sure Sony would, if
privy to inside information, only try to copy
Arista's Strategies.

MLIYL inched up one (1) spot to land at #13 on the Billboard R&B Album Charts. Eventhough there
was no notable change in sales the CD slipped to #26 on the Billboard Top 100 Album Charts (i.e. on the pop chatrs). According to my source, the album slipped marginally only because a few new releases
have entered way up on the charts.

According to Dot Music: As I said earlier in the week, MLIYL is now 56 in
the UK after 12 weeks. I just found out its
sales: 93,000. This is 'disappointing' for
Whitney but like Arista have said the album will
sell a lot more before its time is up. Really the
album hasn't even had a first single yet as WYB
was seen more as a Mariah song here. INRBIO is
due to hit the shops on 22/2 so album sales
should really pick up after that
(submitted by: Chris)
While "When You Believe" falls 3 spots from No. 7
to No. 10 on the World Chart Show (weekend
broadcast of February 13/14, 1999), "It's Not
Right But It's Okay" continues its assault toward
the "global throne", leaping 4 notches from No. 29
to No. 25.

Article in Billboard Mag:
(Chart week ending February 20,1999) After a 3 1/2 year absence from the #1 position at the R&B singles charts, Whitney Houston hits Number 1 for the second week in a row with her new smash hit "Heartbreak Hotel" (feat. Faith Evans and Kelly Price). "Heartbreak reportingly has sold 94,500+ copies already. "Heartbreak Hotel" is also #1 in the Hot R&B singles sales for the week also. In other news, It's not right but it's okay was number 1 for three weeks before dropping to number 7.

As "Heartbreak Hotel" sizzles on the Billboard
charts (for the week ending February 20, 1999),
"When You Believe" continues its descent. The
single moves down from No. 4 to No. 7 on the Adult
Contemporary chart. Additionally, "It's Not Right
But It's Okay" slips from No. 3 to No. 7 on the
Hot Dance Music/Club Play list.
As Trevor P. reported, "Heartbreak Hotel" indeed rises to No. 4 on the Billboard Hot 100, and in the process earns consecutive Power Pick/Sales awards.
(submitted by: Rob N.)
Just FYI, the Billboard Hot
100 is based on a 75%/25% airplay/sales ratio data point system. The Hot
R&B Singles & Tracks follows a 70/30 formula. Sales data is compiled by
SoundScan, while airplay is determined by Broadcast Data Systems.
Furthermore, points garnered from playlists from small radio stations not
monitored by BDS also factor in the final placing of a single/track on the
big chart.

When "It's Not Right But It's Okay" debuted on the World Chart Show last week at No.
29, it was the "debut dominator" (i.e. the highest debuting track of the week).
(submitted by: Rob N.)
According to Dot Music, MLIYL is up to #1 on the official UK dance album chart. Whitney was #10 last week
and she succeeded to make it to #1 after 10 weeks on the chart. This success is due to great
popularity of her next single "It`s not right but it`s ok".

I just got confirmation that MLIYL has "moved with a bullet" to capture the #23 spot on the
Billboard top 200 album charts. The album has however remained steady at #14 on Billboard's R&B Album
Charts.
(submitted by: Trevor P.)
H/H has moved up from #7 to #4 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles. Kindly also note that it remained
at the #1 spot on the R&B singles chart. Please bear in mind that the Billboard singles
charts are compiled as follows: (1) Airplay: 80%
(2) Sales: 20%
Note: Unconfirmed reports indicate that sales have been particularly brisk. With a little bit more
airplay the song might have already topped the Top 100 charts.

Billboard Wrap-Up for February 13/99
Whitney's "Heartbreak Hotel" elbows its way right smack dab into the Top 10, moving to #7* (sales catapult from 27 to #6* and airplay to #19*; it's
the week's greatest sales gainer). Its sales increased 500%. Billboard reports that the single was available exclusively in the maxi-single
configuration the first week and became available in the regular format just last week. I believe Billboard, but I swear to God I saw the
regular single format in Tower during the single's first week in stores, indicating that street-date violations with the regular format during
the first week may have been extensive. Whitney's maxi is bulleted at #2* on Maxi-Singles Sales but remains behind Cher. "Heartbreak Hotel" is
Whitney's 20th Top 10 single, placing her squarely between Janet's 23 and Mariah's 17. Whitney ranks lucky #13 among artists with the most Top 10
hits in the rock era (Janet's 23 places her at #8; Madonna, of course, has 32 and ranks #3). "Heartbreak Hotel" unseats the record "Nobody's Supposed To Be Here" at #1* on Hot R&B Singles.

After a record-setting 14-week run at the top
with "Nobody's Supposed To Be Here"(Arista),
Deborah Cox yields the No. 1 slot on Billboard's
Hot R&B Singles & Tracks to labelmate Whitney
Houston. "Heartbreak Hotel,"recorded with
Faith Evans and Kelly Price, moves from No. 6 to
No. 1, making it the first song titled
"Heartbreak Hotel"to top the R&B list. Elvis
Presley's "Heartbreak Hotel"was his first song
to appear on Billboard's R&B chart; it peaked at
No. 3 in 1956. A quarter-century later, the
Jacksons had a different song titled "Heartbreak
Hotel,"and it spent five weeks at No. 2.

According to DotMusic, in the UK "My Love Is Your Love" climbs 4 to #56 this week.
"When You Believe" is down 10 to 53 on its 9th week.
(this is a good chart run for the top 75 in the UK)
(submitted by: Chris)
According to the PEPSI TOP 20 Charts, Radio Evropa 2,
Whitney's and Mariah's WYB climbs 2 places to
nr.5 this week in Czech rep.

Once again, this week's World Chart Show chart
(weekend broadcast of February 6/7, 1999) exhibits
how much the world loves Whitney. While "When You
Believe" holds at No. 7 (after 2 solid weeks at
No. 1), "It's Not Right But It's Okay" bows in at No. 29.

SOmeone mentioned in the chart section that
Hearbreak Hotel was number 7 on the pop chart due
to sales, and it could climb higher, well here in
Philadelphia, they play Heartbreak Hotel all the
time, on evry radio station, it is bound for #1.
I have heard the song 5 times already today and
it isn't even 4 o'clock yet!!!! So radio is
being very friendly to HH. I thought you would like to know.

As "Heartbreak Hotel" leaps from No. 6 to the summit of the Billboard Hot R&B Singles & Tracks chart (for the week ending February 13, 1999), Whitney's other singles lose some ground. After reaching No. 3 last week, "When You Believe" slides a notch to No. 4 on the Adult Contemporary chart. As well, following 3 big weeks at No. 1, "It's Not Right But It's Okay" slips 2 notches to No. 3 on the Hot Dance Music/Club Play list.
(submitted by: Rob N.)
Heartbreak Hotel is #7 on the Hot 100. Her fellow Arista-label singer Monica is at #1 with Angel of Mine.
When You Believe falls three spots to #18 this week on the Hot 100.
My Love Is Your Love is up one spot on the R&B album charts to #14.
And It's Not Right But It's Ok falls two spots on the Dance/Club Play charts to #3. Bette Midler
takes over the #1 spot. Cher continues to hold the #1 spot for Club/Maxi Single Sales.
(submitted by: Dan L.)
On the Billboard Hot 100 for the week ending February 13, 1999, "Heartbreak Hotel" earns the Power Pick/Sales award and rockets up 22 spots from No. 29 to No. 7. Meanwhile, as "Heartbreak Hotel" gains popularity, "When You Believe" slides down 3 notches from No. 15 to No. 18. Obviously, fans are eating up the single at retail, as their high chart positions have been driven by sales. Let's hope radio lends support to HH, unlike WYB (however, in all fairness, R&B radio has been giving HH a high number of spins).
