From Variety:

Will Smith, Whitney Houston In 'Love'

HOLLYWOOD - Will Smith and Whitney Houston are attached to star in "Anything For Love,' a romantic comedy in development at Universal.

The picture is about a man who dumps his girlfriend and then realizes eight months later that she's the love of his life and that he'll do anything to get her back.

The studio bought the Tom Flynn's spec script for a mid-six-figure price tag, beating out Disney's Touchstone, Paramount and Columbia. Sources said Smith and Houston were attached only if the project went to Universal.

Flynn's credits include the 1992 Peter Gallagher/Suzy Amis picture "Watch It.''

From the Entertainment Wire:

Houston, Smith to Star in Romantic Comedy for Universal Pix

NEW YORK--March 18, 1998--Whitney Houston and Will Smith are attached to star in Tom Flynn's romantic comedy entitled "Anything For You" which was just purchased by Universal Pictures.

The screenplay is about a man who dumps his girlfriend and eight months later realizes he made a big mistake. To win her back, he must endure a series of tasks his jilted lover has set up for him.

William Morris Agency brought the project to the attention of Houston and her partner, Debra Martin Chase, who in turn got Will Smith and his producing partner James Lassiter interested.

It is hoped that shooting will start later this year. Both Houston and Smith will co-produce through their respective companies, BrownHouse Productions and Overbrook Productions. BrownHouse Productions' most recent producing venture was the enormous ly successful made for TV musical "Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella" which aired in November on The Wonderful World of Disney and ABC to over 60 million viewers.
