BBC
Says Tabloid Story Is False
The Bel Air Hotel denied reports in today's press that Whitney Houston
and Bobby Brown trashed one of their rooms. A British tabloid had
falsely reported that Bobby and his brother Tommy had fought and
wrecked a suite at the hotel, when in fact, they never stayed there.
The duty manager at the hotel told Radio 1, "They weren't even registered
here at the hotel!"
Note: If you have seen this tabloid story repeated anywhere
by the press, please e-mail this BBC update to them and politely
demand that they retract it. Thanks!
From the Platinum
Club: Whitney's Brownhouse Productions will be releasing its
first feature film since Cinderella, the critically acclaimed
1997 Disney special. The new movie, The Princess Diaries,
scheduled for release on August 3rd, features a cast that includes
Anne Hathaway, Julie Andrews, Hector Elizondo, Heather Matarazzo
and Mandy Moore, among others. The Princess Diaries, based
upon the same-titled young adult novel authored by Meg Cabot, is
about a young teenage girl (Anne Hathaway) who discovers that she
is the sole heir of the crown of the small European nation of Genovia.
It follows her adventures as she learns the life of royalty contrasted
against her own, hip New York upbringing. The film is directed by
Garry Marshall.
Vote
for Whitney! USA Today has a new online poll: "Which crossover
artist really rocks your world?" Whitney is currently is sixth place.
Let's move her up! (Thanks Ollando)
Everyday at noon, WVEE-V103 in Atlanta, GA, plays their "battle
of the jams." They choose two artists and play one of each of their
songs. Listeners are then asked to call in and vote for who should
win the battle for the day. It's based on the first 12 callers.
This week, V-103 held a battle of the divas. Patti Labelle was the
champion for Monday and Tuesday, beating out Chaka Khan and Diana
Ross, respectively. BUT, Patti was dethrowned on Wednesday by our
girl Whitney. She beat Patti with nine out of 12 callers. Then today,
Whitney was pitted against Tina Turner and won again with ten out
of 12 callers. (Thanks Jamal)
Blockbuster Update
Unfortunately, Whitney did not win the Blockbuster Entertainment
Award for Favorite Female Artist - R&B in tonight's telecast. The
award went to Toni Braxton instead.
Please continue to vote
for Whitney in VH-1's All Access "Hot Bodies" poll! Although
the show was supposed to premiere on March 22nd, the online poll
is apparently not closed. Whitney is currently tied with Britney
Spears in the Best Mouth category with 37% each. (Thanks Junior)
If anyone has seen the show or can confirm that this poll is closed,
please e-mail the results to the Nippy News.
The results have never been disclosed. Thanks!
Yesterday, The Oprah Winfrey Show was discussing people who need
to find something they like to do and then go after it. A guest
on the show said, "If you can paint, you're a painter." Oprah then
added, "If you can sing, you're a singer, but we're not saying you're
Whitney Houston!" (Thanks Carolyn)
CCN TV6 will broadcast "Cinderella" on Monday afternoon in Trinidad
& Tobago. With this airing, all of Whitney's movies have made it
to Trinidad & Tobago local television. All of her other movies have
received great TV ratings in the past, so let's hope this on does
the same! (Thanks Carolyn)

DJ Peter Rauhofer (of Club 69) deejayed at Velvet Nation in Washington,
D.C. on Saturday, April 7th. I had him sign my maxi-single of Whitney's
"It's Not Right But It's Okay." I also asked him to play his club
remix of "If I Told You That." He told me that the mix was never
finished. He said that he would play it that night, but it would
sound very rough. I don't know if he played it that night, but I
did hear him play a pretty good mix of "Fine." I don't know if it
was his mix or someone else's. (Thanks Ryan)
"Fine" is now available as a single (front
cover and back cover)
in Poland. The tracklisting is as follows:
Fine - Radio Edit 3:34
Same Script, Different Cast - Jonathan Peters Radio Edit 4:20
Same Script, Different Cast - Friburn & Urik Cover Your Ears
Mix 10:49
Fine - Instrumental 3:34
The single is available at online stores including merlin.com.pl.

Whitney's
Meeting with Bond Producers Postponed Again
From New York Daily News: James Bond is going to have to wait a
little longer. Potential Bond girl Whitney Houston's Wednesday meeting
in Hollywood with MGM execs and Bond producer Barbara Broccoli was
postponed for a second time and will be rescheduled at a later date.
World Music Charts: News from France and
Germany
"VH-1: All Access" aired a behind-the-scenes documentary on the
making of all their "Divas Live" specials last night. They spoke
to some of the staff at VH-1 who helped put the shows together,
and showed rehearsal footage of the divas practicing for the concerts.
In regard to Whitney's show in 1999, no one had anything sarcastic
or negative to say about her. In fact, based on what they had to
say about some of the other women, she was one of the easiest to
work with. They spoke about how she was one of the first acts booked
for the show that particular year, and how she had very specific
ideas about what she wanted to do during her segment of the show
(such as duets, her tribute to Aretha Franklin). Also, one producer
said her performance of "I Will Always Love You" was probably her
best performance on television to date. If you haven't seen the
show, it will air again several times. Check out the Nippy
Events Calendar for showtimes. (Thanks Rashad, Dayuan)
Whitney and Enrique Iglesias' "Could I Have This Kiss Forever" is

Whitney To Meet Bond Producers Tomorrow
In 007 Talks: Houston, Whitney Houston
Rumors have been rampant for some time that Whitney Houston will
co-star with Pierce Brosnan in the next as-yet-untitled James Bond
film.
Houston took a step closer to making that a reality when MGM and
Bond producer Barbara Broccoli scheduled a meeting with her in Los
Angeles for yesterday. I was cautioned, however, that the meeting
also involved other movie projects.
In the meantime, Houston had been considering appearing in St. Louis
at Sunday's women's NCAA final between Notre Dame and Purdue. I
understand that she and her mother, Cissy Houston, were going to
sing backup for Whitney's brother, Gary Houston, on the national
anthem. When the entire Houston idea was scrubbed, in came the Supremes'
Mary Wilson, who did the honors.
As it turns out, the Midwest wouldn't have worked for Houston anyway,
since she was waiting in L.A. for her Monday meeting with MGM. Then,
yesterday morning MGM pushed Houston's meeting back to tomorrow.
So typically Hollywood. Let's hope she doesn't give up her day job.
Whitney is featured in another free poll for All-Time
Favorite Love Songs Artist. Like the poll from yesterday, she's
way behind. But we've already made a lot of progress in yesterday's
poll. Nice job! (Thanks Gary)
From Liz Smith's syndicated column
SAY BOSS, how does Sean "Puffy"
Combs feel about Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown? They are the big
backers of their pal, Kim Porter, who is suing the Puff for more
child support for her son, Christopher, who is almost 3 years old?
Whitney, Bobby and Kim had their heads together poolside at the
Bel Air Hotel recently. (Oh, so you don't know the answer either.)
I know Bobby has finished making "How To Make Your Man Behave in
10 Days . . . or Less," and "Go for Broke." I also know that Whitney
has seen a rough cut of Disney's "The Princess Diaries," which she
produced. But this is what I want to know - is she ever again going
to be in front of the cameras? (Oh, you can't answer that either.)
From St. Louis Post-Dispatch: The biggest mystery surrounding
the championship game [the NCAA women's basketball championship
in St. Louis on Sunday night] was solved when Mary Wilson, formerly
of the Supremes, emerged to sing the national anthem. Whitney Houston
was booked to sing with her brother, Gary Garland Houston, who played
college basketball at DePaul, and her mother, but she canceled Thursday,
prompting a scramble for a replacement. Officials said she pulled
out because of a commitment with Arista Records.
Follow-up: The HX Magazine report that Junior Vasquez included
a Whitney track called "Girlfriend" in his Top 10 playlist was a
deliberate publication error. It was from the magazine's annual
April Fool's issue, so there is no such song. (Thanks Chris B.)
The April 6th edition of Entertainment Weekly includes a picture
of Whitney with Ben Stiller and his wife at Vanity Fair's Oscar
bash. Unfortunately, it only shows her profile so you can barely
see Whitney behind her fur stole. (Thanks John G.)
You can vote for Whitney in the following free poll for Current
Favorite Love Songs Artist. She's way behind. (Thanks Morgan)
On MTV2, Jessica Simpson sang "I Have Nothing" as a tribute to Whitney.
She said, "[Whitney] is the best singer" and "I try to emulate her
every inclination of her voice." (Thanks Charles)

the following three Whitney U.S. maxi CD singles on the following
dates:
It's Not Right But It's Okay - April 3

The tracklistings for each single don't include any unreleased

According to an article in HX Magazine (a free gay magazine in
New York), DJ Junior Vasquez has listed a song entitled "Girlfriend"
by Whitney Houston for his Top 10 playlist. There's no telling
yet if this is a new song, a remix of old songs, or a printing
error. (Thanks Jake) If anyone has any additional information
about this track, please e-mail the Nippy
News. Thanks!
The Spanish magazine "HOLA" includes a glamorous picture of Whitney
