INRBIO KCC's Release The
Love Groove Mix (bootleg)
The Bodyguard soundtrack has been certified for sales of 17
million in the U.S. alone, bringing Whitney's total platinum
album sales to 49 million in just the U.S., excluding sales of
the Waiting To Exhale soundtrack. As a result, Whitney has sold
more albums than Madonna in the U.S., her closest competitor in
this area. Barbra Streisand still holds the record for the most
albums sold by a female artist in the U.S. The Bodyguard soundtrack
remains the most successful album of the 1990s and the biggest
selling soundtrack of all time. (Thanks James T., Paula, Shauren)

VH1 UK is having
a contest for tracks of the millenium. There are 3 fields listed
and all one has to do is to write the name of each track, the
artist's name and one's e-mail address. It's called the Millennium
Honours. Songs that come to mind are IWALY and MLIYL, among others.
Also, if you click on the "Contact Us" icon to the left of the
page, one can e-mail a request for the ILFTB video. Just fill
out a name, age, e-mail address and write the request in the comments
section. You can leave the address field blank if you live in
the U.S. (Thanks Lopez)
Over
200 great new screen captures from the MTV Making The Video special!
(A big thank you to Rachel for making the pictures!)
New concert audio! Yesterday marked the end of Whitney's very
successful MLIYL concert tour. To celebrate, you can listen back
to the last show of Whitney's 1998 concert tour. The 1998 show,
which was a UNICEF benefit concert in Aschaffenburg, Germany,
turned out to be a revelatory concert in which the arena lost
its electrical power and Whitney stayed on stage with a dead microphone
to keep the audience together. Highlights include an impromptu
performance of "You Are So Beautiful," which she sang
to the audience after the power returned, and a charged rendition
of "I Love The Lord." The audio files are only available
to mailing list members. Feel free to join the
list!

FYI- During Whitney's Oberhausen, Germany concert on October 30,
Whitney changed her set list to sing a little of "Walk On By"
and an almost acappella rendition of "Alfie," both originally
sung by cousin Dionne Warwick. (Thanks Federica N.)

Chatelaine Magazine
discusses how Canada has
not been receptive to "urban" music:
It's not necessarily that Canadians aren't hip enough. It's just
that "urban" music, as it's now called (translation: music performed
by black artists other than Whitney Houston) gets considerably less
airplay on mainstream radio-- most stations favour Top 40 pop hits
or classic rock instead.
"We don't 'get' urban music only because we haven't been given a
steady enough diet of it," explains Rob Farina, program director
of CHUM FM, an adult contemporary radio station in Toronto. "The
No. 1 rule in radio is familiarity." [Canadian radio has been very
slow to play Whitney's latest album despite what this article says.]

Wall Of Sound Reviews Divas Live/99
CD: "It's Houston's show..."
Funny how they gave the show, and now the CD, two different reviews.
They were right about Whitney this time though!
Here is detailed information about the Brazilian MLIYL special edition
I told you about. It includes two remixes: INRBIO Thunderpuss 2000
Radio Mix and MLIYL Thunderpuss Radio Mix. Also, as I was looking
through the store, guess what I found out: Whitney is, here, at
the same level of sales as 'NSYNC! That is a BIG DEAL!!! "Clap your
hands..." for Whitney! (Thanks Fernanda)

According to a press release issued by Enrique Iglesias' record
company, his album indeed will be released on November 23. The
release says three Spanish tracks will be included on the CD,
but apparently a Spanish version of the duet with Whitney, "Could
I Have This Kiss Forever," is not one of them. There is no
information on whether there will be a Spanish version of the
duet.
The ILFTB music video is being shown on MTV Europe. Be on the
look-out! (Thanks Marie-Eve B.)
Some Whitney items are available at Yahoo!

We need
to start requesting "I Learned From The Best" immediately
on MTV Total Request Live. MTV has dropped the MLIYL music
video from its request list, so now is the perfect time to start
writing in ILFTB at their webpage. [Arista hasn't really serviced
ILFTB to radio yet,
where MLIYL is still performing strongly, so the Whitney
Weekday request campaign will remain focused on MLIYL until
further information is available.]

The
ILFTB music video concept: Whitney plays herself performing
the song on TV, where a former lover realizes that she is actually
singing the song about him. Whitney looks beautiful in the video
(not a surprise), wearing a sleeveless brown leather dress and
boots, and sporting an afro wig that is actually played down by
the lighting a bit.
During
the show, Whitney
talked
about the importance of having someone in her life who cares about
how she feels. She also beautifully performed "I Learned
From The Best" live for the extras who sat for hours during
the video shoot, even though she was obviously exhausted. (Many
thanks to Carlos I.W. for the pictures)
The syndicated entertainment show Access
Hollywood aired a preview of the MTV special. They didn't
expand upon anything that MTV did, except to say that Whitney's
look in the video was inspired by recent Paris fashion shows.

Live/99 set was officially released today! Check out the
