Chart News: CNN
WorldBeat Top 30 Albums update
On VH-1's "The List" today,
the question was "The Sexiest Female Artist." Brian McKnight said
the sexiest of them all would have to be... you know who....THE
DIVA Whitney Houston. He spoke about her classic beauty and body
structure, especially her legs, her strength as a black woman
and longevity as an artist. He also went on to say "THE VOICE"
cannot be forgotten. She is just blessed, he concluded. (Thanks
Emanuel R.)
For Brazilian Fans: Whitney is currently at Number 6 with
her "It's Not Right But It's Okay" video on Top TVZ, a show from
cable TV channel Multishow (Globosat/NET). The show airs Saturday,
10 a.m. and 7 p.m. (Thanks Fernanda)
New lyrics have been added for "Abraham,
Martin and John," which Whitney performed during her
HBO "Classic Whitney" concerts in 1997. (Thanks Paula
P.)

In Germany, there is a new CD called "Cissy & Whitney Houston"
that costs about 9,95 DM, which would be about less than US$5.
The cover shows Cissy and a old picture of Whitney. WARNING: THIS
CD CONTAINS SONGS WITH WHITNEY AS A BACKGROUND SINGER! (Thanks
Dominik)
This CD's tracklisting is almost exactly the same as another CD
called "Cissy and Whitney Houston: A Family Affair." However,
this new CD contains the song "Life's
A Party," which may be the first song Whitney ever recorded
with some lead vocals when she was just a teenager. "Life's A
Party" can also be found on the Michael Zager Dance Collection,
a greatest hits package that was released maybe a year ago.
New lyrics have
been added for the song "Are
You The Woman," on which Whitney sang background vocals
for Kashif early in her career. (Thanks Eita Okuno)

Austrian TV channel ORF 1 said Whitney has cancelled her third Vienna
concert scheduled for October 25th. (Thanks Michelle S.)
I never saw this concert listed by the fan club, but it was advertised
by the Stadthalle in Vienna.
According to the Mediacontrol Charts, Whitney´s album "My Love Is
Your Love" and also the single have broken the double-platinum mark
in Germany. Both the album and the single stayed at least at #2
on the German charts. (Thanks Maharaj)
Here's the excerpt regarding Whitney
from Aretha Franklin's book, "Aretha: From These Roots."
Keep in mind that Whitney was in her early twenties at the time
of which Aretha speaks. |

Whitney's Platinum Club
confirmed the duet with Enrique Iglesias was recorded in August,
and said the rumored song with Toni Braxton and Lauryn Hill is false.
(Thanks Tony L.) Also, the fan club said Dolce & Gabbana
are tentatively planning to throw Whitney a celebration when she
arrives in Milan, Italy for her concert date.
The fan club also said the "I Learned From The Best" music video
is being directed by Kevin Bray, who also directed the other videos
from the "My Love Is Your Love" album, excluding WYB.
More info about the ILFTB video: Whitney was in Koln, Germany
today, filming the video! The news was featured on Germany TV (I
think on the ATL channel). Whitney was wearing a white, long coat
and she had dark pink gloves on. Her hair was pinned up. They also
had auditions for the extras in the video today. Germans should
keep a lookout for TV news footage of the video shoot. (Thanks
Philipp)
A German TV magazine show also reported that a woman working on
the set of the video said Whitney is wearing a brown leather dress
and that she is looking very beautiful! (Thanks Sylvie) If
anyone has information about the video, please submit it to the
Nippy News. Thanks!
According to the Philadelphia
Inquirer, Gloria Lewis Sulvetta, executive producer with Haverford's
Cornerstone Pictures, is just back from Cologne, Germany, where
she shot a segment with Whitney to be used in a White House mammography
campaign. Two weeks ago Cornerstone shot another segment with Hillary
Rodham Clinton at the White House for the same campaign. (Thanks
Dan L.)
I was browsing through Aretha Franklin's new biography and under
the chapter entited "Through The Storm" (also the album title of
her album), she talks about recording her duet "It
Isn't, It Wasn't, It Ain't Never Gonna Be" with Whitney. There
was some misunderstanding that occured between the two but Aretha
seems to be still very favorable towards Whitney. (Thanks Timothy
Y.)
This is cool!

This is superficial and only states the obvious, but here it is
anyway! Mademoiselle magazine
cites Whitney as having the ideal Hollywood smile. "Teeth
that are uniformly straight are considered the Hollywood ideal.
A star-quality smile like Whitney's is practically automatic:
Just part your lips and you seem to beam."

Latest
Chart News: MLIYL single slides on World Chart Show,
album leaps up UK chart!
As we know, Whitney's next single is expected to be I Learned
From The Best/I Bow Out. Arista apparently wants Whitney to have
the first No. 1 hit in the year 2000. I Bow Out is expected to
have at least 4 remixes, including a remix by Junior
Vasquez and another by Thunderpuss
2000. (Thanks M.G.) Junior Vasquez's site says the
following in its upcoming releases section: "Whitney
Houston - I Learned From The Best/ I Bow Out to be released as
double A-side follow up to My Love Is Your Love single at the
end of the year. (Possible Junior Remix of one of these tracks.)"
