I was in Tower Records and was looking through an old Rolling Stones Mag and saw this piece of news: it seems that the producers of Warner Bros. after saw that was cero screen chemistry between Whitney and Denzel they are thinking of Will Smith and Lauryn Hill to do the new remake of "A star is born" who was supposed to be remade by our DIVA.   :-( What a pity!!!! IN SPAIN: 40 Principales Radio plays the WYB Oscars' version!! (submitted by: Alberto)

1988: Entertainment Tonight closing credits. WH singing a song. Accompanied by a piano only. The piano starts, WH humms. Then says "I forget the words". Wearing white "1920's hat" and a white/beige blazer. It looks like she may be outdoors, singing for charity or a party or something. (Her father was in attendance that nite.) Then she gets to the end of the song (still humming), then says "OK, here we go.". Then she sings the last 20 seconds of the song. It looks like an American patriotic song, but it's not the Star-Spangled Banner. The lyrics end like this: "Facing the rising sun/Of a new day begun/Let us march on/Till victory has won". I asked what song this was... ANSWER: That song is "Lift Every Voice and Sing" and is a sort of black hymn that is often sung at various functions like graduations and such. Old Negro Spiritual. About one hour ago I saw "The Lick" (R&B program) on MTV (Europe). Before they shown INRBIO (#1 !!) They had a little peace about the new project of Whitney. Trevor Nelson said it was going to be a country album. Then there was this peace where Whitney said something like: "I can sing gospel, pop, hip-hop, so why not COUNTRY?" Then there is this part of Whitney singing a country-song. It sounded very soulful (ha ha). Whitney was looking good. The "Bodyguard-hair" was back and she was wearing a white-red striped t-shirt. The interview that was discussed in today's news item about MTV Europe's Report on WH's alledged country and western album was from MTV's Rockumentary with Whitney during the Bodyguard years. I think someone is making up this country and western story. If you will recall, in that MTV Rockumentary, she was making a point that if you can sing, you can sing anything .....and they showed a clip of her acting silly and singing a country song..........She was wearing a red and white striped shirt during the interview. News Daily, they showed a short footage of Whitney congratulating Deborah Cox on the STMA by giving her a kiss on the cheek.; Access Hollywood TV show: Again, they talked about the STMA and showed Whitney talking about Luther Vandross. According to Howard Stern Show: Whitney Houston was finally a question on JEOPARDY! Well, sort of. I don't know if this is News. But it's Howard Stern. They were playing Black Jeopardy on the E! t.v. show and the catergory was "Black Movie Stars." The clue was, "The movie where the fine negress makes out with Kevin Costner." Access Hollywood (03/29/99), has a short segment about the Soul Train Music Awards that were broadcast this past Friday and Saturday (depending where you live). The main person they interviewed was Whitney. She mentioned that she enjoys the Soul Train Awards because everyone "really gets along, we really do There's real commrodary". The segment then briefly covered the awards in general, including Lauryn Hill's 3 wins, as well as Luther Vandross receiving the Quincy Jones Award for Career Achievement. AH then showed a backstage photo shoot of Luther and Whitney posing together. When asked about presenting the award to Luther, Whitney stated that "all they (Soul Train) had to do was mention 'Luther', and I said YES - I'll be there". All the interviews showed Whitney in the beautiful long sweeping white dress she wore when she presented the award to Luther. (submitted by: Pat)

According to Radio 3 FM (Dutch radio), Wondering why we haven't seen Bobby Brown joining Whitney at events? I was watching Vanilla Ice "Behind the Music" on V-H1 last night and saw a commercial touting Divas Live 99 with Whitney, Tina, Cher and Brandy. The clip showed baby pics of the four divas and then flashed their names across the screen. One question, if Cher is on board, shouldn't it be called Divas almost live. On Friday's Leeza show, some radio dj's were discussing the Oscars. One of them said Mariah looked better than Whitney (whatever) because Mariah has meat on her bones and Whitney's too skinny. I was watching E!'s live post-Oscars show and they had an interview with WHITNEY!! She talked about how she was nervous singing "When YOu Believe" and how she knew it was a special song She also said she is planning either a tour this summer or a movie and that she hasn't decided yet. She looked very nice. This was at the Vanity Fair party. Then later they showed he in a different outfit with the colored wrap she wore before going to the Beverly Hilton Miramax party. Which is right across the street from The Pennisula Hotel where I know she stays when she is in town. So that probably was her last stop for the evening. Very cool to see she had fun. People Magazine: the current issue has a picture of WH and (gasp!) Janet Jackson at Elton John's Charity Oscar Party. They were watching the Oscars at the party together. The picture (WH is wearing the white dress) was taken as the "Best Song" award was being read. The caption says something like "Will I win or will I lose?". According to The King Of Pop Discussion Board, there is an article from the AFP about Michael Jackson's upcoming charitable concert "Michael Jackson and Friends". According to the article, Boyz II Men, Stevie Wonder, and WHITNEY HOUSTON are scheduled performers. There are two concerts: one on June 25 in Seoul and one on June 27 in Germany. Michael Jackson appeared last Saturday at the german show "Wetten, Daß...?" and spoke about his charity concert. There will be one in Korea and one in Germany (27th june 1999 in Munich). For the Munich-concert one ticket will cost 125DM (US$ 55) and it will be broadcasted live in TV (german TV station ZDF). That´s all I know. I just read in today's New York Post that many of the Oscar attendees were miffed when Whitney Houston, apparently, showed up at the ceremony late. It was reported that when it was obvious that Houston did not appear on any of the many live Pre-Oscar telecasts, on the red carpet, producer Gil Cates was upset. It was later explained that Houston's tardiness was due to an earache and it was even suggested that Houston was opting to perform her part of "When You Believe" through lip-synching it. In can't undersatnd this story as Houston did appear on the red carpet (as shown on yesterday's "Entertainment Tonight" show. It was even shown as footage on "Access Hollywood." So, I don't believe she was late. I do believe, however, that because Mariah Carey, with whom she was slated to perform the duet with, came earlier than Houston, tongues began wailing as to whether or not Houston would show up, at all. Alas it's here!! I visited Tower Records on West 4th Street in the Village (NYC)today to see if I found anything new from Whitney and there it was......the INRBIOK import with the Club 69 remix. It is actually 2 CDs, a part 1 and a part 2. The part 1 has INRBIOK, the Club 69 remix and the Johnny Vicious remix. The part 2 has INRBIOK, Step by Step and I'm every Woman. Well according to the MTV interview Nippy said she has atleast 3 parties to attend. Boy aint she a party freak good for her. She looked good too. On The Tonight Show with Jay Leno (the Monday night show) Elton John was a guest and was talking about his party that all the big names attended. Jay asked who he thought was the best dressed and he listed a few names and then he said, " . . . and Whitney looked pretty damn good!". Last night on E.T. I saw 3-4 different clips of WH on the Red Carpet wearing a black dress, along with her date, Bobbi-Kris. (submitted by: Rachel D.)

Whitney was also photographed by "Access Hollywood' They also showed Whitney and Bobbi Kris on the red carpet. Access Hollywood mentioned that they followed Whitney around during the night and it appears as though she wore 3 dresses Oscar night!! The white one seen during the WYB performance, a similar style black dress that was worn before the performance when she was seen on the red carpet, and a third dress - black with a colored band/cloth across the front, which was worn at the Oscar after-party that she attended.

She spoke with AH for like 5 seconds, stating that she was looking forward to the after-party to talk with people and relax. She mentioned that she didn't really get to talk to as many people as she would have liked to before and during the awards because everyone seemed so "intense" and focused on the awards and winning. Whitney mentioned the after-party should be fun and that everyone should be more relaxed now that the whole awards thing is over.

Coincidentally, it's my opinion that Whitney herself appeared both confident and relaxed during her performance of WYB, and was definitely relaxed and friendly while briefly talking with "Access Hollywood". She was smiling and seemed very happy and relaxed. I wonder, though, how Whitney felt having to travel across the country to L.A. to perform WYB, only to have Steven Schwartz, the winner of the Oscar for Best Original Song, pull a no-show. It's time to call out the Whitney support group! In this week's (South Africa) Sunday Times, there is an article titled "Whitney Hits Sour Note". It basically talks about Whitney being totally jealous of Lauryn Hill. The article claims that Whitney says: "I've been the queen of music for years and I'm not about to give up my crown for Lauryn!". We all know that this is garbage, so STAND UP FOR WHITNEY by writing the editor of this paper at suntimes@tml.co.za. I can't believe they would write Whintey up like that after she made a point of "coming home" to a New South Africa for her Bodyguard Tour! Whinte y participated in the Anti-Apratheid concert for Mandela back in the 1980s. And how do they repay her? By trashing her with this insane lies? I'm typing my letter to the editors of the South Africa Sunday Times, and giving them a peice of my mind! This tabloid trash has got to end, and we can do it together! This past weekend while out shopping at the area Target Store, I noticed a magazine with Whitney Houston on the cover. The cover is the same as the cover on her new cd (My Love Is your Love) it was an advertisement for Target, there inside was a very nice photo of Whitney and her nieces and nephews in black and white she talked about family life and her recording studio at home, and spend time with her family. I noticed Bobbi Kris in the magazine also but her name was not mentioned. If you are a tree fan like me stop by Target and add this to your collection. Note it is free and the photo is great. I've just finished reading Darren's account of "When You Believe" at the Academy Awards and I'm actually quite surprised. Contrary to his report, from the moment that Whitney stepped off the staircase it was evident that that she was confident and focused . If you couldn't tell this by her demeanour, than you certainly could by the quality of her voice. She held the performance together. Mariah's trademark tossing of the microphone between hands showed how nervous she actually was. Whitney's performance lo oked and sounded effortlesss. WH apears on the front cover of uk soul mag,blues n soul this week.Its the best article I have ever read on WH.She talks about the album, the produces, MC and the guy who interviewed her cant say a bad word about her.She has major attitude in the interview, which I love and she says her next studio album project is going to be a country and western album, she wants to appeal across the board to all races and cultures, I dont know if thats a good idea or not, anyway buy the mag, its worth it.Oh and she cant say enough about lauryn hill, how close they are, so whats all the fuss about them hateing each other and the row back stage at the grammys, in the national enquirer, pile of rubbish if you ask me. If we give 100% this week we can get it to #1 on the pop chart too but it takes all of us. The pop chart is Whitney's toughest battle right now. She needs airplay to take down Cher. According to KISS FM 98.7 (NYC radio), I heard that some singers will be cotributing their vioces to a tribute CD to Marvin Gaye on his upcoming 60th birthday and they include Whitney, Babyface, Toni Braxton, Brian McKnight and of course Kenny Lattimore (yep my boy!!) also Tevin Campbell & Luther Vandross. According to theappraisalnetwork.com, Many of Biggie Smalls' lyrics were unbelievable and Faith Evans is trying to see that his name is unforgettable. The Christopher Wallace Memorial Foundation will host its inaugural benefit gala dinner on March 30 with B.I.G.'s widow, singer Faith Evans scheduled to perform, among others. While Whitney Houston and several other big-name entertainers are also on the organizer's wish list, Evans is the only performer confirmed at this time. HH is officially released in France. You can find the single everywhere and one of the biggest music store "La Fnac" seems to like the single because it is well exposed in the store. There are 3 different CDs: one with 2 song, one with 3 songs and a vinyl with 11 songs. It's the same cover. BTW the single has not entered the top 100 Charts. But the good news is that the album is still at #22 (last week it was 31). People seem to appreciate the new style of Whitney. I e-mailed you a couple of days ago giving you the scoop about the next Mariah/Whitney duet for "all that glitters". I mentioned that the song was written by Mariah. well, i was hoping that i could find out the name of the song. And I have done just that. Apparently the song will be a cover. Yes, another remake... but wait! before you get frustrated, do you recall the ballad "butterfly" from Mariah's "butterfly" album? Well, it's going to be the duet. "Butterfly" was not released commercially here in the USA, so making the song into a duet probably won't be too bad of an idea. it is one of MC's fans' favorite ballads. I was visiting Thunderpuss 2000 Website and found info about Whitney. Since Barry Harris and Chris Cox has formed Thunderpuss 2000 about seven months ago, our girl Whitney has given them their very first #1 hit with INRBIOK (Dance Remix). According to the RIAA Site, Whitney got Diamond award from RIAA (award for albums certified at 10 million). WHITNEY HOUSTON and THE BODYGUARD got one, but they say Mariah is the only female to get 2 Diamond Awards (for "Music Box" and "Daydream", which is now at 10 million). (submitted by: Jason E.)

According to the RIAA Site, WH is there twice: her debut album is also certified diamond. I am kindof upset because it's obviousl Sony is tooting their own horn by disqualifiying the BS OST as a non -WH album. Puh-lease! We all know who the top diva is! On CNN they are running commercials for their "People Magazine" specials. They show Whitney's picture but that is it. Their website has no info on who people will profile. Harrison Ford is the 1st one, his special is on tonight at 10 PM eastern. Don't hold your breath because People Mag often use WH for promotion and then they end up putting 1.5 seconds of her.
