According to the official website, the NAACP Award Ceremony (which Whitney was nominated for six awards) will take place Saturday, February 13 and Sunday, February 14, 1999 at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium (California). A friend of mine at HMV (Calgary) told me that his store would not be ordering the single for retail based on the low sales of "My Love Is Your Love". I think this shows how bad Arista have been lately in the promotion of Whitney's album. This Madonna site, writes: "Whitney's "My Love Is Your Love" has tallied a total of 870,000." That is Soundscan figures for the album, unlike the RIAA's figures of Double Platinum. For those interested, "Mariah's "#1s" has sold (a bit over) 1.8 million copies since its release on November 17". The Heartbreak Hotel video had its world premiere today on MTV's Jams Countdown. I'm happy to say Whitney has never looked better!! The video starts with a arial shot of Miami Beach then cuts to Whitney stepping off of a private plane to be met by Faith Evans and Kelly Price in a convertible white Rolls Royce, no less!. There are various shots of Whitney on the steps of the National Hotel in Miami, singing with her "sisters", Whitney wearing all white singing in a hotel room, and best of all, Nippy singing on the beach in a maroon gown. This is our Nippy at her most "DIVA-ed" out! At the end of the video she even throws the all-white fur coat she has worn in most of the video into the ocean!! Throughout the video she wears her attitude like one of her form-fitting evening gowns! This video more than makes up for the let-down of the WYB video. Filipinos cannot stop loving the song "When YOU Believe". It has a very heavy airplay and also influenced by the MTV asia WYB receives a very heavy video play. As I was flipping channels the other night I passed by a normal news channel and they had these people who were measuring people's faces to see if they were proportioned correctly. They were doing people like Bill Clinton, Cindy Crawford, Kate Moss, Katie Holmes, and Rosie o'Donnell. What was surprising was that the supermodels faces were way off from perfect. Rosie had the best results out of the people I have listed. Then at the end of the segment they showed one more persons proportions. It was Whitney Houston! I was screaming! They showed them measuring her face from like her chin to her lips and her cheek bones to her eyes.... They were measuring and tons of different places. After they measure they have a computer do it for them. It turns out Whitney Houston has a perfect face. She is the only known person in the world to have a perfect face. Isn't that amazing. According to WSTO Radio (Evansville, Indiana): WSTO talked about Whitney on the "Celebrity News" deal that they do every week, and they said that Whitney delayed the shoot for "Heartbreak Hotel" for almost a whole day because the chair in her dressing room was not up to her standards! He also went on to say that Kelly Price and Faith Evans were not too happy with Whitney because of this. This sounds like something out of a tabloid because I am having trouble believing this..... Information on the world's biggest selling female artist. This Madonna site states that Madonna has sold 120.4 million albums worldwide. Some Whitney sites (Manish's) say that Whitney has sold about 101 million albums worldwide, with MLIYL it is probably around 104 million copies. Why do Whitney fans consider the WTE soundtrack a Whitney album when she only had three tracks on it? It is not really a Whitney album-- as such and Whitney's album sales would stand around 94 million copies. Mariah's sales have reached the 100 million mark, so really Whitney is in third place amongst the biggest selling female artists worldwide. According to the New York Entertainment Wire, on Saturday, January 30th at 12pm, MTV will premiere a new series entitled "9 For the Nineties" focusing on events that influenced music and pop culture in the 90s. The first installment titled "9 Days That Rocked the Nineties" will focus on nine days that had an impact on the music of the 90s. Featured in the show will be the date 11-23-92 which marks the date that Whitney Houston's "I Will Always Love You" went into heavy rotation on MTV. I was in a Target store today and passed the music aisle where they had a whole section dedicated to Whitney featuring all her cd's and Soundtracks. Along with all her old cd's I found a new limited edition CD called "You Are Loved". Just in time for Valentine's day, it features six Whitney love songs including "You Are Loved", "SAML4Y", "IWDWS (WLM)", "R2Y", "ATMTIN" and "WDIHSB". It has a picture of Whitney on the cover from the same photo shoot as the MLIYL cd and written in pink is the title "You Are Loved" with a pink heart also. I guess it is only available at Target because there is a big Target logo on the back of the CD. This is a great idea, chalk one up for the Arista promo department (finally). I was in the bookstore and saw a book by Reggie Wells, Oprah's former make-up artist, called 'Face Painting'. The book has a section on the celebritites Mr. Wells has worked with. Whitney is featured. He talks about how he met her, their work together, and it feautres several rare pics of Whitney. Other celebrity features include Oprah Winfrey, Iman, Patti Labelle, and Vanessa Williams. It seems like a good book and it gives some good make up tips as well. (submitted by: Nicole)

I guess that's all us Whitney fans need to do is believe! "When You Believe" has bulleted from No.64 to No.25 on Billboard's Pop Singles Chart. You know, I have a gut feeling this single might reach No.1. Everywhere I go the song is being played more and more regularly. I think now that people have seen the movie they appreciated the song more. This applied to Celine Dion's "My Heart Will Go On". It took approximately 10 to 12 weeks before this song started to explode at radio. The same occurence might be true for Whitney & Mariah's "When You Believe". (submitted by: Leigh)

Britney Spears: she's the female version of Backstreet Boys, who's debut single "Hit Me Baby, One More Time..." is topping the pop charts. When the producers of BSB were looking for a female counterpart, the held auditions and Britany Spears got the record deal after she sang WH's "I Have Nothing" in front of the record company execs.
