NOW THAT'S WHAT I CALL FAN-APPRECIATION!!!
Deborah Cox, who's 2nd album is due out at the end of the month, has her own website (not done by Arista) on which she actually reads and RESPONDS to her fan mail and to the praise she gets!!! She also has a RealAudio preview of 3 songs off her new album, to which she adds an intro -- complete with her feelings about the song and it's producers. She shares alot of HERSELF in her webpage. BRAVO to her management for using the web to get closer to her fans, without actually meeting them in person. Now isn't that what the web is for?!
Deborah actually mentioned me by name in her 'chat room'... which almost gave me a heart attack. Of course, now, I am gonna hafta buy her CD on the very first day and promote it shamelessly. It's amazing what a little fan-appreciation can do.

WH is considering a Cival War movie... Read all about it!

ABOUT THE NEW ALBUM:
A friend of mine from Toronto met a stranger at a record store who was from NYC who has heard some songs off WH's new album. He said:
  1. "the album has a couple of duets".
  2. "the lead of single is a 'Lauryn Hill-type' song".
  3. "vocally, she sounds really different".
He said he "wasn't a WH-fan, but the new song was 'da bomb'!" (submitted by: Greg B.)

MC talks about WH in the October issue of Vibe magazine. Read the article. (submitted by: BlackAtlantic)

The current issue of HX magazine (a gay mag from New York) has a list of the best DIVA sites. Guess which site is listed?! :-)

"When You Believe" gets its first airplay on October 7, but if you want a preview of about 3 lines of the main chorus (sung mainly by singers other than WH or MC) the trailer can be downloaded at www.theatrs.sre.sony.com. WYB pops up towards the end of the trailer.  The trailer does take about an hour to download. The very last second of the trailer switches from the Dreamworks chorus to what sounds like the WH/MC single, although the voice in my opinion sounded more like MC than WH. A very high pitched voice sings "...when you believe." and then it fades into a glimpse of the Babyface background.
BE WARNED: this trailer only offers a TINY peek into what the song sounds like.  The trailer, by the way,  looks fantastic.  I think this movie is going to be huge. (submitted by: Arunesh R.)

New Polling Booth Design! New Polling Question! Please report any bugs to Rachel. FYI: you are not supposed to be able to vote twice on this poll, but I dunno if this is actually so...

Anderz has news about the 4th Annual Internat'l Acheivement in the Arts Awards, which both WH and MC will attend.

R&B bad boy Bobby Brown, husband of singer Whitney Houston, has decided to serve five days in a Florida jail for a drunk driving charge rather than appeal his sentence. Convicted of the DUI charge last year, Brown's attorney says the singer plans to surrender to Broward County deputies within the next few days, according to the Associated Press. Last January, Brown was sentenced for the 1996 DUI to the five day jail term, 12 months probation, a $500 fine, 100 hours of community service and had his license revoked for a year. (from: VIBE Newswire)

People Online has some more info about the Emmys:
Some celebs were too famished for such hijinks: Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown -- who, countering rumors of estrangement, engaged in public cuddling -- made a postshow dash for the border. "I want Taco Bell," Houston announced. "It's all about Taco Bell." (from: People Weekly Online)

I found out today that the duet ships to radio Oct 27th with airplay on the 28th. That's the plan. Don't know how subject to change it is. As far as the same day release date, I think it's an agreement btwn the record companies to each capitalize on the venture as much as possible. If one entity is not at the starting gate at the same time, then they lose out. (submitted by: Reggie P.)

I had a conversation with a VERY reliable source who told me that the upcoming WH project is indeed a NEW album. This source is as close to Nippy as they come. Also, the release date is Nov. 17th. (submitted by: Reggie P.)

I've read in several sites that people have seen yesterday during the Country Music Awards the commercial for the movie Prince Of Egypt. During the commercial, they played the duet for about 10-15 seconds. It was on CBS. I wasn't watching TV last night. But, believe me when I tell you that I'M WATCHING CBS RIGHT NOW!!!!!! (submitted by: Wissam N.)

In the latest People magazine on the last page there is a pic of MC and WH. It is the same as the one from the Star [tabloid trash] that I told you about. They talked to MC about the duet and she said how she really likes Whitney as a person and that they are going to film the VIDEO soon and that it is going to be a LIVE VIDEO!!! OLD SCHOOL WHITNEY ON TV!
Wednesday, September 23rd 1998 at 8:00 pm on VH1 -- "Solid Gold" #85. Vintage performance clips from The Pointer Sisters, Tina Turner, Whitney Houston ("Saving All My Love for You") and John Parr. (from: Rock On TV)

Bobby Brown will probably drop his appeal and serve a 5 day sentence for drunken driving in Ft Lauderdale, FL. He's expected to turn himself in to the Broward County jail sometime this week. (from: Electronic Urban Report)

BAD TRADERS!
I just want to warn you! Before trading with anyone, ask for references! I've been screwed not once, but twice for the same item! I've "traded" with 2 different ppl w/o asking for references and I went and sent out my trades right away, only to get screwed. WHITNEY-FANS BEWARE! Don't make the same mistakes as me!

ACCORDING TO BILLBOARD MAG:
Scheduled to be released Nov. 17 are Whitney Houston's new album, Mariah Carey's GHP, and the 3 Prince Of Egypt soundtracks.
This will be the biggest release date in the history of the Music business because also to be released are new sets from Garth Brooks (a double live album), Ice Cube, Jewel, Bruce Springsteen, Nas, Ginuwine, Foxy Brown, Spice Girls (an EP), Seal and Bone Thugs-N-Harmony (a hits compilation). (submitted by: Nuno)

Also according to Billboard Magazine: Dave Hall is currently working on tracks for Whitney Houston's upcoming set. (submitted by: Nuno)

Dave Hall??? Who is this guy? Dave Hall Is a hip-hop producer. He's produced most of "What's the 411" for Mary J. Blige as well as songs for Mariah Carey and CeCe Peniston. He use to be a part of Sean "Puffy" Combs click -- but he is by far the most talented of the bunch...and He is very underrated. If he's producing songs for our girl -- KNOW THAT SHE'S IN DAMN GOOD HANDS. (submitted by: Kevin K.)

Could this ever come true for Whitney? (from: Billboard Online)

Taylor Danyne jumps ship? According to USA Today, Taylor Dayne's 'Naked Without You' is being released Oct.6 on Maverick Records. Taylor Dayne, who's hits include "Tell It To My Heart", "Love Will Lead You Back" and "I'll Be Your Shelter" has left Arista for Madonna's Maverick label.

It seems that "when u believe" the single has been shipped to radio this week... because after the top 40 section, u can see under the hovering under top 40 playlist song... "when you believe" is there... Whitney's name listed first than Mariah. Go to the casey's top 40 website and see for yourself! (submitted by: John L.)

Entertainment Weekly is calling the new album a "double-disc collection" with hits, the Mariah duet, and new tracks produced by Missy Elliot and Babyface. It is due to come out on Nov. 17. (submitted by: Patrick R.)

FROM GQ (UK version) Magazine's article on Lauryn Hill: "Lauryn leaves Mariah at the bustop, Whitney in her taxi and (...)"... And I forgot the rest... Anyone out there in cyberspace in the UK have this mag???

WH is on the cover of People Magazine. DON'T BUY THIS MAGAZINE!!! They have an article featuring the Emmy Awards, and they talk about all the stars but nothing on WH... the only thing they write [beside the miniscule picture] is "Bobby devulged WH's travel plans: 'She wants to go to Tahiti', he said". Hmmmmm... I wonder who's gonna pay for their trip...

STRAIGHT FROM THE HORSES'S MOUTH:
Whitney's next album is for Arista records is scheduled to be released on November 17th. She is recording songs for this album right now. At this point we still do not know exactly what will be on the record (i.e.; greatest hitss, all new stuff...).
You will be seeing Whitney all over the cathode ray tube this fall. Whitney is in the process of scheduling a lot of appearances both in Europe and the United States. Look for her on shows like Saturday Night Live and many others. (from: the PC club's website; submitted by: Dave)

Article about the Emmy Awards: Whitney & Bobby Kiss Emmy Goodbye!

Ain't It Cool News (www.aint-it-cool-news.com) reviews the "Prince of Egypt" movie. This website irritates all the movie companies by posting its reviews of the movies online before the movies are released. Often, movies are previewed to randomly selected audiences before they are released to get ahead on marketing strategies, or sometimes at Film Festivals, such as the one on in Toronto right now. This is how this review came about. Very interesting. Read Father Greek's POE review.

They showed WH on the red carpet of the Emmys last night on E.T. and also on 'Inside Edition'. The entire footage is about 3 seconds. IE asked WH if she felt like Cinderella that nite; WH replied "yes". It was a very stupid question.

File under "Interesting"... Patty LaBelle's view on her fans who ask for autographs

WH was on E.T. again tonite! This was not promoted. Whitney made a surprise appearance, along with John Travolta and Cuba Gooding were at a bash for Annette Funicello, the ex-Mouseketeer who is wheelchair bound due to her disease (multiple sclerosys). Whitney was there. She looked fabulous. IT was a celebration of Annette's reunion with her co-star of the 1950's, Frankie Avalon. WH sang "A Song For You" for Annette Funicello and for the Chairman of Walt Disney Studios who's done alot for MS research (I guess?). WH was wearing a black jacket w/ a plunging neckline, w/ silver glitter on the ends of the sleeves, and on the collar. If I get my stupid TV tuner card to work, maybe I'll be able to get a couple screen captures of this.

Funny article: Repeat Performance.

Here's another (better) pic of WH on the red carpet of the Emmys from E! Online.

If you missed the MTV VMAs, you can download it on RealVideo at www.mariahc.com. You can alse see the frame by frame sequence. This is the pic in which WH's bra is showing the most... The MC fans behind this site obviously have alot of $$ to spend on this tech stuff.

The Emmy Awards: WH looked good this time! Take a look at this photo taken on the entrance carpet -- WH is on the arm of Mr. Bad Boy himself.

Correction of release dates: "When You Believe" ships to radio on October 7! Mariah Carey's new album "Ones" which includes "When You Believe" should be out on November 10. "Prince Of Egypt" OST will be out one week after, i.e. November 17. (submitted by: Honey B. Fly)

More confusing info on release dates from the "Baltimore Sun" newspaper: "The Prince of Egypt" Nov 3; Mariah's "1" Nov 10; WH's "Greatest Hits" Nov 17. (submitted by: Chip H.)

Whitney is gonna present an award at the MTV Video Music Awards! Make sure to cath the ceremony on MTV on Sept. 10th at 8PM. I am pretty sure they will repeat the show later that evening.

There is a section on the MTV Video Music Awards website for pas winners, which includes a pic of WH when she won for "Best Female Video" in 1986 for HWIK. Take a look!

WH is in a mag called "All That". They have a special issue on "the world's most beautiful black women" which includes Halle Berry, Janet, Tyra, Vivica, Vanessa Williams, Jada and WHITNEY! The WH pages include mag covers from a popular Japanese publication called "Ad Lib". Also includes one of WH's earlier promo pics for her debut album. Also includes a 'rare Japanese ad for the BG OST', in which WH presents the BG OST as a X-mas present for the Japanese public... On the cover of the mag, it says "Over 200 photos PLUS: The Ultimate Whitney Houston Photo Album". Definately worth buying!
