Grammys were no surprise: Whitney didn't win. Whitney did not attend. And I just want to say that both Babyface and Erykah Badu were robbed! Sorry folks, but Paula Cole and Shawn Colvin are one-hit wonders! Puh-lease! (for list of Grammy winners, visit the official grammy site.)
At the 12th annual Soul Train Music Awards, to be held Friday at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, Erykah Badu, Ronnie Isley, Monica, and Kenny Lattimore will join in a musical tribute to Whitney Houston, who will receive this year's Quincy Jones Award for career achievement. On The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Jay Leno said that in the tabloid The Star, it says that Bobby Brown has accused Whitney of cheating on him!! However, since it's from a tabloid, I don't know how reliable this news is...

While Whitney Houston is mad her "Preacher's Wife" CD was
shut out of this year's Grammy's gospel category (EUR 02/13/98),
she has earned a Gospel Music Association's Dove Award
nomination. Houston's "Preacher's" tune "I Go to the Rock" has
been nominated for best traditional gospel song. And Cece Winans
received a nod for best female vocalist. The awards ceremony will
air live April 23, on The Nashville Network.

superstar, and her behavior got even worse after she wed bad-boy
singer Bobby Brown in '92. She is often late for big gigs, and sources
in her closely guarded camp say Houston is torn between her mother,
Cissy, who encourages her to work hard, and Brown who inspires her to
act irresponsibly. "I don't know who Whitney is listening to today,"
says our source. "I don't even know how ambitious she is anymore. Its

need to read this and maybe
even e-mail rebuttles are in order. I hate
tosee WH being drgged thru the mud after such an outstanding
performance. Some ppl are just nit-picking to find _something_ wrong.

WHITNEY's on Entetaiment Tonight: They showed clips from the Rosie show and interviewed Whitney. Whitney is "fuming" (pissed off) at not being recognized in the gospel category of the Grammys (she's nominated in the R&B instead). She said the Preacher's Wife is her gospel album and feels it was not recognized by the Grammys... and she said she won't be there (she's not protesting the Grammys, she's just not going!) They plugged the Cinderella video release, and also said Whitney will receive the Life Time Achievment Award at the upcoming Soul Train Awards on Feb 27th. (submitted by: Carlos C.)
Rachel the webmaster just wants to say that she had the SAME reaction when
the PSW OST was not nominated on in the Gospel category at the Grammys. If the PW OST is not a gospel album, then tell me what is? This is such a crock!

UNICEF BENEFIT CONCERT: A german fan, Mr. KP, called the ticket shop right in Aschaffenburg, Germany; they confirmed the concert, too. But they didn't have more info than that it would be a concert with benefits for UNICEF. (My ticket says "UNICEF Summer Open Air Festival '98 - Whitney Houston), presented by FSI F. Scheuerpflug International(??). This is what I found out about Felix Scheuerpflug International: He presented last year a mega -Elton John concert for UNICEFat the same place (Aschaffenburg), attended by about 50.000 people and lot of VIPs (national and international). As it was such a success for UNICEF, he said this event would only be the beginning of a tradition ... seems that this years attraction is Whitney (not seems, she is). As Aschaffenburg is more a town than a city, the Elton John concert was situated in a beautiful areal, with the Johannisburg palace and the Pompeijanum in the back(all from Main-Echo-online). Well, seems like a dream scenery for a Whitney concert. At the same time it means, that this is probably not going to be a major tour. (submitted by: Klaus-Peter) |

According the a German newspaper, Whitney will be live in
Germany, on July 11th in Aschaffenburg (near
Frankfurt), Festplatz, it is a no-seated open air.
Tickets are already on sale (75 DM each).
The ticket shop didn't have further infos whether
it's a major tour or just a singular show (which I
think is very unlikely)

Whitney is in the Febuary 9 issue of Jet magazine... just one picture
that is in black and white... Tt's from the Trumpet Awards gala (which airs this Sunday, Febuary 8/98) and they said
that she won the pinnacle award... The pic is on page 62 so you can look at
it and see if you want to buy it.

sentencing. Personally, I don't think the mag is worth buying just for that pic.

I was up late one nigth wachting TV on Rosie O'Donnell was on some show talking about Whitney not showing. Rose said not to believe the press -- her and Whitney are still friends. She even said that Whitney is going to do her show this month. They're going to do a skit like Rosie is going to be in the dressing room saying to Whitney «Are you still coming? This past Saturday, Much Music had a Pop-Up Video Marathon. They played
the episode in which WH's "I'm Your Baby Tonight" is popped. Very kewl.
Party Of Five co-starr Jennifer Love Hewitt was on some talk show and they showed footege of her first ever performance, when she was 7 or so. This was back in the 80s. JLH sang "Greatest Love of All". In Trouble... Again! The Bobby Brown Florida Sentencing. That's the last straw for me! I can't believe I defended this poor excuse for a man! From this day forward, I solemnly swear not to defend any crack-heads! Bobby had pleanty of opportunity to prove that he wasn't a 'bad boy', but has failed miserably! |
