I just read in the Washington Post that 'You Were Loved' was originally
recorded by Whitney for the songwriter Linda Creed. Do you know anything about
this? Linda Creed is the woman who wrote 'The Greatest Love of All' with
Michael Masser. Unfortunately she died just before Whitney's version made it to
the top of the charts. (submitted by: Sellakumaran)
The 29th NAACP Awards ceremony will be taped in Los Angeles on February 14 (a.k.a.
Valentine's Day) for airing later that month on the fabulous Fox Network. Whitney is nominated for best TV Special ("Cinderella").

Did you know that The Bodyguard is out on DVD ? [Digital Video D???].
It is the first Whitney
title to be released but I hear that the other two are soon to follow .
Hopefully they will put some of the footage of Whitney sing in the church back
in from TPW, since that plan to make all DVD's better than video . Tell the
other fans to add it to their list. Santa will be here before you know it !

"In Return", a song Whitney sang in the IYBT tour in Japan [1991]. You can hear the song on the audio page.
DONT BELEIVE THE HYPE!
Not that we should believe this but STAR magazine is saying Whitney is
addicted to cocaine and smokes a lot of pot. I just read it today at the
store, NOT that I believe any of it, but I though I'd at least report it to ya.

It was a year ago today that Arista redid the official Whitney site to reflect the Preacher's Wife. The "artist information" section has been 'coming soon' since December 30, 1996. OK -- like
whatever.

In the new Rolling Stone Magazine year-end salute with the brilliant Tori spelling on the cover [brilliant? her? whatever!], TV critic David Wild lists 101 reasons why TV was worth watching in
1997:
# 90: Whitney Houston playing the fairy Godmother to Brandy's Cinderella in
the Wonderful World of Disney's presentation of Rodgers & Hamerstein's
Cinderella.
Pitch for next season: Bobby Brown as the Big Bad Wolf.

VH1 is currently holding the voting process to find the Artist of the Year
and Whitney is nominated. You must dial 1-888-Vote-Vh1 so it is a FREE call! Plus, if you
vote, you could win a free trip to meet the artist themself. Please tell all Whitney's fans

last year!! (submitted by: Eric W. and Jared)
Toni Braxton to leave Arista Records!
I hope Whitney decides to do the same as
her. Well, I know Arista did a lot have her launched in the early years and
all, but let's face it. They're clearly out of touch and it's obvious
that she's no longer their priority artiste. I hope she finds a better
home at Sony or Virgin. (submitted by: Sella)
Bobby was on MTV News (europe) over the weekend, airing his dirty
laundry, as he contended that he was as big as Whitney and the New
Edition reunion had slowed him down (as he is sooo much bigger than
the rest of them. Further he dissed Babyface by saying he writes the
same song over again and that babyface had now lost it. which is why Bobby was working with real
talent on his album..
He finished by saying " Shoop shoop?? come on"
Mr Brown finally shows his true colours. I will not be giving him the
benefit of the doubt anymore.

Rachel got an e-mail from a devout Moonie... Read all about it!
In the new issue of Entertainment Weekly with the Amistad cast on the cover (Dec. 12), EW once again makes a mean swipe at Whitney.
In an article about what they would like to give stars for Christmas featuring
people like Ellen DeGeneres and Michael Jackson (among many others) this is
what they bequeath to Whitney:
« To Whitney Houston, unreliable diva: a wake-up call (both literally and
figuratively) »
The stab also features a cartoon caricature of Whiney's face molded into a
clock with her mouth open singing "and I-I-I........"
I don't know about you, but I for one, a subscriber of the magazine for over
seven years is getting quite tired of this.

There is a possibility that the soundtrack to "The Preacher's Wife" may
end up the year at No. 2 on the Top Gospel Albums chart. I was reading
the local TV listings and noticed that the Billboard Music Awards are on
Monday and one of the performers is Kirk Franklin & God's Property. This
could mean that "God's Property" may top the chart. However, because "The
Preacher's Wife" did spend 26 big weeks at the summit and hasn't fallen
from No. 2 since then, it still could end up at No. 1. Perhaps the
Billboard award show couldn't get Whitney to sing.

"Every Nation" (except for Whitney)
I just went and bought the "Diana: Tribute" album. For a year now I have been waiting for "Every
Nation" to be released. Today I bought the CD, and frantically opened it to find Whitney's vocal have been cut out of the song! What happened? (submitted by: Jimmy)
If you recall, the "Every Nation" track was recorded on the night before or after the Grammies. Whitney had a severe cold at that time. Rachel is not surprised she opted not to sing on the track. You will recall the less than stellar performance of "Shoop
" that closed the 1997 Grammy Awards.
The Moonies want a refund from Whitney.
Bobby Brown is featured
in the Dec. 8, 1997 issue of Jet Magazine. In this article, he speaks of
Whitney as his inspiration. He says, "We (Whitney) keep it together through
love and understanding." Although the article is about Bobby Brown, there is
a picture with Whitney and one with their daughter, Bobbi Kristina. He
discusses marriage with another superstar.

Whitney will be receiving a Trumpet award,
which is for African-Americans that have made great contribitions to
society. The awards are given by one of Ted Turner's orginazations.
It's in January 1998, and I don't know when it will air on TV, but it usually does. More later!!!

Nippy Fan Polling Booth has a new question!
This better be another fabricaton of the tabloids:
"The outrageous outing finally erupted in a fist-swinging climax when Boby went berserk..."
"Bobby and Whitney drank champagne from the same glass.Boby had a transparent Ziploc bag with white
powder inside.Four times I(bouncer) saw him stick his finger in the bag, then dunk it into
champagne..." (submitted by: Bruno A.; from the National Enquirer)
