I Look To You: In a U.K. radio interview last summer, R. Kelly said the song "I Look To You" is about God and is gospel-influenced. It *might* be featured on a Greatest Hits CD. (submitted by: Sadiq V.)

ABOUT THE "Duets" TV OFFER:     I called them when I saw the commercial. Apparently the CD contains only four songs. Duets with Aretha Franklin (It Isn't, It Wasn't...), Bobby Brown (Something In Common), Teddy Pendergrass (Hold Me) and Jermaine Jackson (If You Say My Eyes Are Beautiful. (submitted by: TJ)

Someone told me about The Preacher's Wife/Duets album offer. I haven't seen the commercial, but apparently, the set costs $17.98 (plus S&H?), and the phone number is 1-800-396-9463. (submitted by: Lisa D.)

Have you ever seen the live-outdoor-concert video for "Didn't We Almost Have It All?" It's one of my favorite Whitney videos and I am sure will be one of yours once you see it.

Blockbuster Win: Whitney Houston won a Blockbuster Award for Favorite R&B Female. She beat Aaliyah and Natalie Cole. Unfortunately, her category was not televised. (submitted by: Ralph M.)

Just read a humourous article on Whitney and Madonna in a mag called 'Here!'. Don't know how true it is tho'. It states that after nearly a decade of bickering and fighting, Madonna and Whitney have become friends. It seems that Madonna sent Whitney a basket of flowers after she suffered her recent miscarriage with a thoughtful message and our Whitney was apparently touched with the gesture.
I know the tabloid has always spinned tales of their animosity, but I didn't think that there was any truth in them.

If they have become friends, I'm glad because they have so much in common and they're both very strong women.

FYI: Actress Keaton used Houston song

NEW YORK - If Diane Keaton wins the best actress Oscar, she owes a big thank you to Whitney Houston. Keaton listened over and over to the singer to psych herself up for the role of the self-sacrificing, careworn Bessie in Marvin's Room. "I listened to her singing I Will Always Love You, and I played it over and over in my head, and just kept getting more and more upset," Keaton said in this month's Entertainment Weekly Special Oscar Guide. "I had a whole tape filled with that song repeated over and over."
She won best actress for playing the title character in Woody Allen's 1977 film, Annie Hall, and was nominated for her role in 1981's Reds. (submitted by: Dave B.)

Singers Who Act: Dave B. came across this interesting article about singers who also act in movies.

NEW YORK - A choirful of some of R&B's hottest stars gathered Thursday at the Hit Factory recording studio to make a song aimed at helping fight against AIDS in minority communities. The song, Every Nation, was written and is being produced by R. Kelly and will feature solos by Kelly, Whitney Houston, Mary J. Blige, Monica, Mariah Carey and the Fugees' Lauryn Hill.

Joining the chorus are Curtis Mayfield, Montell Jordan, Case, Mona Lisa, Tony Rich, Gerald Levert, Malik Yoba, Faith Evans and the groups 112, Dru Hill, SWV and Total. The single and its video will be released on Arista Records this spring through the Red Hot Organization, which has given more than $6 million to AIDS charities since 1989 by raising money through various recording projects. John Carlin, executive director of the group, says that 1993's No Alternative raised more than $1 million. He has similar hopes for the Red Hot and R&B album that will come out later this year. (submitted by: Dave B.)

FYI: Previous 'red hot' albums that raised money fro AIDS reseach are: "Red, Hot + Blue" and "Red, Hot + Dance".

I just wanted to clarify something: Mariah and Whitney will be singing on the same song. The song is called "EVERY NATION". (submitted by: Sieraaj)
