Babyface working on the final mix of "My Heart Is Calling" and interview

Whitney talked about the new single "Step By Step" and how she felt
that God had made it so that she would record this special song from the

some time and think about it after next year. (submitted by: Manish

Whitney's video for "Step By Step" was recently released in Europe. The
video shows Whitney is wearing a brown rain coat and dances to the song
standing on a center stage while other dancers join her as the song
develops...Whitney also hold an opened umbrella while rain is pouring
down. Whitney's hair is curly and she looks great. The video also
features Bobby Brown in the end... It seems as if Whitney is trying to
hide her growing stomach, wearing big clothes and they focus mainly on
her face. (submitted by: Isaac S.)

Sweet Whitney, had a miscarriage yesterday !!! I really wish her the
BEST. (submitted by: Don)
I just received word from the offices of Whitney Houston, Nippy Inc. that
Whitney is not in good health and has cancelled for now all her Tokyo
tour dates... (they were scheduled for January 1997) (submitted by: Jay H.)
I read a report online that Whitney suffered another miscarriage and is at
home in Mendham, NJ recuperating. What sad news. It was so apparent from
all her recent appearances and interviews that she wanted this baby so bad.

Here are the final stats for this weekends "The Preacher's Wife" box
office tally: "The Preacher's Wife," Buena Vista, $7.6 million, 1,783
locations, $4,290 average, $7.6 million, one week. Interesting
statistic: if "The Preacher's Wife" was on as many screens as "Jerry
Maguire," it would have grossed almost $11 million, good enough for 2nd
place. Just an interesting piece of info. (submitted by: Ralph M.)

Hey guess what?! This [my] site has been chosen as Star Seeker's
'Pick of the Week' at Star Seeker-dot-com.
In today's L.A. Times, it said that "The Preacher's Wife" was shown in
over 1700 screens, much less than the other films. Disney/Touchstone
expects to expand the film to more screen this week as the good
word-of-mouth talk about the film spreads this week. (submitted
by: Ralph M.)... No wonder it debuted out of the top 3!
From Billboard Magazine
(12/21/96)... here are the stats so for on the song and on the album
submitted by Ralph M.
Hot R&B Airplay chart (for "I Believe In You And Me)... #15 (last week: #17)
Hot 100 Airplay chart (for "I Believe In You And Me)... #43 (last week: #55)
Adult Contemporary chart (for "I Believe In You And Me)... #9 (last week: #19)
Top Gospel Albums chart... #1 (last week: debuted at #1)
Top R&B Albums chart... #4 (last week: debuted at #8)
Top 200 Albums chart... #4 (last week: debuted at #12)
The single "I Believe In You And Me" hasn't been eligible to appear on the
"Hot R&B Singles" or "Hot 100 Singles" chart because it hasn't been
commercially available, but it will appear on both charts when they are
released this coming Wednesday since the single has been in the stores since
12/10/96.
Also, Billboard reviewed the single "Somebody Bigger Than You And
I":
The pleasant assault of [Whitney] Houston and her delightful soundtrack to
"The Preacher's Wife" on radio airwaves continues with the release of
this lively all-star jam. She and co-producer Ricky Minor (who, by the
way, is
Whitney's musical director) do a marvelously crafty job of couching pure
lyrical spirituality into a jeep-funk musical setting to which kids can
easily relate. And while the diva is surrounded by some potent performers,
none of 'em entice the liistner away from her fluidly soulful delivery for
longer than an occasional flashing moment. [Faith] Evans and [Bobby] Brown
in particular appear to spark Houston to a more playful vocal place than
we've heard in a long time. Although it's tought to imagine any radio format
not already slamming the primary single "I Believe In You And Me," this gem
will warm the hearts of the one or two programmers who are not already
offering wall-to-wall Whitney.

According to USA Today, The
Preacher`s Wife grossed about 7.5 million dollars this weekend, coming

Here's the latest charts info from Radio & Records on the new single
"I Believe in You and Me":

There is an interview of Whitney in Newsweek magazine. With a
Song in Her Heart and a Lot on Her Mind, 'Preacher's Wife' star Whitney
Houston talks about Bobby, Denzel, Tupac, Santa and Toys "R" Us... Read all about it! (submitted by:
Ralph M.)
Here are other chart notes:
On the R&B Albums chart, "The Preacher's Wife"
soundtrack leaps from No. 8 to No. 4 in its second week
on the chart.
On the Hot Adult Contemporary chart "I Believe In You
And Me" vaults from No. 19 to No. 9 ... a huge leap on
a chart where chart movement is usually very small.
With huge airplay on "I Believe", could the single debut at No. 1 on the
Hot 100 and Hot R&B singles charts? It's a strong possibility. Keep
your eyes on the upcoming Billboard charts (perhaps even next week!).
As you might recall, "Exhale (Shoop Shoop)" debuted at No. 1 on both
charts, as well as the Maxi- Single Sales, Hot 100 Sales, and Hot R&B
Sales charts.(submitted by: Rob N.)

This week's Entertainment Weekly has an article about the
Preacher's Wife in it. It's the issue with Jimmy Smits and Kim
Delaney from NYPD on the cover. The magazine also shows it's surprise with
a Whitney Houston album not making the Top Ten, but it assures that it
should rise. (submitted by: Wendell E.)
Three stores in Atlanta that [Sam] just happened to be in are sold out of
the PW CD. I have to tell you that Arista might have been wise to release
"Joy To the World" or "Step By Step" first. A couple of the radio stations
