When we spoke with Lelah Rochon recently she told us Whitney has decided to play Dorothy Dandridge. Lelah says she may also be in the film, possibly as Dorothy's sister. (Whitney bought the rights to a book about Dandridge and is making it into a feature film. (submitted by: Sadiq V.)

Kennyth "Babyface" Edmonds was on Oprah Winfrey, on October 21st. He was quoted as saying:
Working with Whitney is like working with my sister.
The Exhale (shoop, shoop) chorus came about because he [Babyface] ran out of words!

Babyface penned many of Whitney's hits, including I'm Your Baby Tonight and Exhale (Shoop, Shoop). He has also written songs for Madonna, Toni Braxton, Boyz II Men and Mariah Carey.

The Preacher's Wife soundtrack is Whitney Houston's third movie soundtrack and follows the worldwide record-breaking sales of the seven-times-platinum

Whitney's next movie is entitled "The Preacher's Wife", and its scheduled (North American) release is DECEMBER 13, 1996. Whitney co-stars with Denzel Washington. I've found more info here.
More Preacher's Wife stuff found at movies.com by Sadiq. You can download the movie trailer!!! I thought it sounded really good! Thanks for the info, Sadiq!

Did you know that Whitney recently did a private gig, for the wedding of the Sultan of Brunei's daughter's wedding? She earned over a million dollars!!!! For those of you who don't know, the Sultan is of Brunei, he is the sovereign of this small island (somewhere around Indonesia) and he is THE richest man in the world! (submitted by Sadiq V.)

Did you know how Whitney was going to play Cinderella? Well, she decided that she was too old to play the part (she felt that Cinderella should be played as a teenager), so she has asked Brandy to play the part. Whitney is co-producing the musical, which will be filmed early next year around Brandy's "Moesha" schedule and be ready for the air by holiday season 1997. Whitney will play the fairy godmother... she will still be featured prominently in the musical, and will sing a lot of songs.

Whitney's husband, Bobby Brown, was on Oprah on Tuesday, Sept. 10th. He and his singing group, New Edition, made their first appearance together in 10 years. It was a good show, where they interpreted the new hit single "Hit Me Off" and also the old-school classic "Mr. Telephone Man". Bobby professed his love for Whitney and dispelled all the rumours (i.e. Tabloid articles) about their supposed divorce and marital problems.
Thanks to Alexandra D. for e-mailing me about the show hours before... I probably would have missed it otherwise. (I had to cut class to watch!)

Have you purchased your copy of "Why Does it Hurt so Bad?" David was impressed with the new versions of "I Want To Dance With Somebody". Wrote David, «the song seemed so new, with a super beat» .

Those of you who want to have Whitney songs not available on her full-length albums, purchase the "Exhale" CD single which includes "The Moment of Truth", "Dancin' On The Smooth Edge" and "It Isn't, It Wasn't, It Ain't Never Gonna Be" (duet with Aretha Franklin). If you want to buy this single, be careful! There are 3 different "Exhale" CD singles. (US Bar-code#: 07822 12916).
