The
Whitney Weekday Request Campaign
has been divided by the letters of the alphabet. For example, if
your last name begins with the letter "A," you can proceed to the
row for "A" and call or e-mail any 3-5 radio stations in that section.
The letters will change everyday. The goal is to help ensure that
each state gets votes everyday, without all of us voting in huge
blocks.
Here is Another Option For Anyone With E-mail that Includes a
Line For BCC. This method enables you to send a single message
to DJs across the country without revealing that other DJs are receiving
your message at the same time.
DO NOT do this if your e-mail software does not provide a line called
BCC!!!
Non-AOL users click here.
AOL users have to use this different
method instead.
Note: While the BCC method will be quite effective, it excludes
many radio stations that do not provide direct e-mail addresses.
Therefore, if you have five minutes, continue to check out the
complete request list, because there are many links there that
will take you to radio station web sites where you'll be able
to send your e-mail message easily. Thanks!

Album Tidbits: Click
on the link to read an article that elaborates somewhat on what Arista
president L.A. Reid terms as a more "personal" album from Whitney,
following Billboard's initial report that mentioned the same description
on Friday. Unfortunately, it doesn't give new hints on the material
that is being considered beyond what we've already heard. However
vague, Reid's comments are at least promising.
DMX Update: As we know, rapper DMX's management had approached
Whitney to sing on a song dedicated to his grandmother. According
to a follow-up report from MTV, Faith Evans has actually recorded
the vocals for that song:
"Perhaps the person who most touched his life, his grandmother, is
remembered on 'I Miss You,' featuring Faith Evans. The first song
he recorded for the album is produced by newcomer Kid Kold, and finds
X asking his grandmother, 'Why couldn't I come when he came to get
you?' Then he says he would do anything to have one more hug. DMX
also recollects some childhood events, like his grandmother teaching
him about religion, and speaks to her in heaven about how every member
of the family is doing since she's been gone. On the chorus, Evans
sings what X remembers his grandmother used to say to him: 'Baby it's
gon' be OK.'"
Michael Jackson Update:
Some information is now available on what Whitney will perform during
the tribute concert on September 7th. The article also eliminates
some songs that she could have sung that will be performed by other
artists instead.
Wellington Houston? "Whitney Houston's pop crown is under threat
- from her own cousin. Wellington Houston, 23, is being hailed as
the next big thing in the US. But although Whitney sings on his
demo CD, Wellington doesn't want to cash in on his famous family.
He said: 'All I want from my family are good wishes.'" [From the Scottish

Contract
News: Houston, We Have Liftoff
Following the signing of a new [over] $100 million contract with Arista
Records, Whitney Houston is "collecting songs" for her next project,
which will be out in 2002, according to Arista Records president/CEO
Antonio "L.A." Reid. "We're looking at producers," he says. "My conversations
with her have focused on making an album that her fans will feel is
a very personal album. I'm not saying [the songs] should reflect the
state of her personal life, but I want something that feels personal."
He expects her to be in the studio by year's end. Reid and Houston
will co-executive produce the project.
The deal, Reid says, does not extend the number of albums Houston
owes the label. (She had at least five remaining on her current contract.)
"The idea is to motivate her and encourage her, and -- I find this
very important -- if she is the biggest-selling artist on Arista Records,
and if she is the queen of Arista, I think her deal should reflect
that. This was an acknowledgement of her greatness. This wasn't an
exchange for more songs or albums." [From Billboard]
Happy Birthday: Whitney Houston celebrated her 38th birthday
with hubby Bobby Brown and family at their New Jersey home last night.
Houston's rep, Nancy Seltzer, said Bobby was fully recovered from
the scary episode that saw an ambulance rush him to a hospital at
3 a.m. Wednesday with Whitney at his side. Seltzer said Brown had
grown overheated and dehydrated while recording in a studio on their
estate. So, with all her money, can't Whitney afford air conditioning?
"Musicians do not record with air conditioning," said Seltzer. "It
affects their vocal cords." [From New York Daily News]

Happy
38th Birthday to Whitney!
Bobby Taken To Hospital: Bobby Brown was rushed to a local
hospital yesterday suffering from dehydration after working nonstop
for several days on his new album without taking in a lot of liquids.
The weather temperature in the New York/New Jersey area has been very
high for the entire week. Whitney made the call to 911 and accompanied
to him to the emergency room, where he did not need to be admitted
and was soon released. Click here

Princess Update: Television rights for "The Princess Diaries"

New
RealAudio: Listen to the unreleased "Get It Back" (Junior
Vasquez Club Mix) and "If I Told You That" (Razor Mix). The Junior
Mix places Whitney's vocals on top of a dance bass line and includes
about eight seconds of Whitney's adlibs that were cut off at the end
of the album version. The Razor Mix (by Razor of famed duo Razor &
Guido) uses Whitney's solo recording of "If I Told You That." Both
remixes were casualties of the fact that neither song was released
commercially in the U.S.
On TV: Following tradition, VH-1 U.K. will broadcast two programs
to celebrate Whitney's birthday on August 9th, including many Whitney
videoclips in a Greatest Hits special at 11 a.m. (Belgian time) and
a Whitney Houston Top 10 at 7 p.m. (Belgian time). (Thanks Eddy

More
Contract Details: Three new articles have been added that
provide more information about Whitney's over $100 million Arista
contract. According to the articles, the contract improves the terms
of an already existing pact that reportedly requires Whitney to record
six albums and release two compilation albums. Under the contract,
Whitney will receive $25 million up front, as well as additional benefits
that Arista President L.A. Reid says are more than financial improvements.
Reid also briefly discusses Whitney's next album.
On TV: Whitney will be included in "BET Specials: A Year In
Review," in which the network will show some behind-the-scenes footage
and interviews from their special events of the past year. Some of
the staff who put together the BET Awards, as well as music director
Ricky Minor, will speak about Whitney. Clips of her performance at
the BET Awards also will be shown. The two-hour program will air on
Tuesday, August 7th at 8 p.m. ET on BET. (Thanks Carolyn)

For
Fans With Deep Pockets: Contrary to published reports, the Ticketmaster
web site currently has tickets available for Michael Jackson's September
7th concert within the $800-$2,500 price range. Whitney is scheduled
to perform at that concert. Some news organizations have been misquoting
a Jackson press release that stated tickets were "virtually sold out,"
incorrectly reporting that they are entirely sold out when some are
actually still available at the moment.
Princess Update: Two additional news
articles and two more movie reviews
have been added for "The Princess Diaries." None of them mention Whitney
(for those who are only interested in reading Whitney articles).
