The
Whitney Weekday Request Campaign
has been divided by the letters of the alphabet. For example, if
your last name begins with the letter "A," you can proceed to the
row for "A" and call or e-mail any 3-5 radio stations in that section.
The letters will change everyday. The goal is to help ensure that
each state gets votes everyday, without all of us voting in huge
blocks.
Here is Another Option For Anyone With E-mail that Includes a
Line For BCC. This method enables you to send a single message
to DJs across the country without revealing that other DJs are receiving
your message at the same time.
DO NOT do this if your e-mail software does not provide a line called
BCC!!!
Non-AOL users click here.
AOL users have to use this different
method instead.
Note: While the BCC method will be quite effective, it excludes
many radio stations that do not provide direct e-mail addresses.
Therefore, if you have five minutes, continue to check out the
complete request list, because there are many links there that
will take you to radio station web sites where you'll be able
to send your e-mail message easily. Thanks!

Music Charts: News from France and Germany
Last week's People Magazine featured a follow-up look at Blacks
in Hollywood with an article entitled "Hollywood Blackout, The Sequel."
The article comes five years after People's first cover story on
the issue. It says about Whitney: "Black actresses have lost ground
since 1996, with stars like Whitney Houston and Angela Bassett cooling
off, and the likes of Halle Berry and Jada Pinkett Smith still unable
to ascend to Hollywood's A-list." The article goes on to say that
in 1996, Whitney was the top paid Black actress, making $10 million
for her last film, but in 2001, Halle Berry is the top paid Black
actress with only $2.5 million. (Thanks Jack)
Tomorrow March 31st, E! (in Poland) will air its "True Hollywood
Story" documentary about Whitney and Bobby at 11 p.m. Poland time.

Excerpt from US Magazine: [Tom] Hanks had his own personal cheering
squad in Whitney Houston, who, upon seeing the actor, opened her
arms wide and chanted "We love Tom! We love Tom!" The singer was
smiling broadly on the arm of husband Bobby Brown and seemed to
have put behind her any bad memories of last year's Oscar teleast,
when she was dropped at the last minute from an Oscar-songs tribute
by musical director Burt Bacharach.
Some Tidbits from People: Whitney didn't borrow her jewelry for
the Oscar parties, instead wearing her own crystal necklace to complement
her Pamela Dennis gown. Her purple faux fur was by J. Mendel of
Paris.
They can't get Whitney in Malaysia but they have got an impersonator.
There will be a concert entitled "The Bodyguard" on April 6th and
7th at the Arena of Stars, Genting Highlands. Tickets for the impersonator
are selling like hot cakes, with the April 6th show sold out. Imagine
how it would sell if it was actually Whitney. (Thanks Shaun)

Whitney was mentioned tonight on Damon Wayans' new sitcom "My Wife
and Kids." The TV family had a truce meeting because the mother,
played by Tisha Campbell, had broken her husband's stereo (the father
is played by Damon Wayans). She finally admitted that she broke
it, explaining that she was singing along to WHITNEY, and when Whitney
hit a high note, (then Tisha sang the high note -- possibly the
high C in "I Will Always Love You") she flung her arm and broke
the stereo because she was moved by her Whitney sing-along. (Thanks
Rachel)
On Tuesday's edition of the game show "Jeopardy," one of the categories
was "Famous Covers" in which the contestants had to name songs that
two artists sang. For one question, the answer was "Dolly Parton
and Whitney Houston." The question which was answered correctly
by the winner was "I Will Always Love You." In the same category,
the answer was "George Benson and Whitney Houston." The question
which the winner also got correct was "Greatest Love Of All." (Thanks

Oscar Party Info: Here's an additional
picture of Whitney and Bobby at Vanity Fair's post-Oscar party,
plus excerpts from today's Washington Post --
The crush of long black limousines stuffed with Hollywood heavies
stalled to a standstill before a series of roadblocks that would
have made the Bosnian militia proud. Harvey Weinstein, the jowly
mogul behind Miramax and a don not to be trifled with, got out of
his ride to lead his entourage once more into the breach. "This
is ridiculous!" Harvey growled, and, of course, it was.
The alpha and the omega of annual post-Oscar bashes, hosted by Vanity
Fair, had become bedlam. Even the most powerful moneybags in Tinseltown
-- my God! even Academy Award winners, bearing the golden statuettes
above their heads like false idols -- were being held back at the
gates of Morton's restaurant by sheriff's deputies who had spent
way too much time in the gym. ...The celebrity heat was like a heavy
tropical mist. You waded through it, paddling to stay afloat. Here's
Lucy Liu, here's Helen Hunt treading on your toe, Penelope Cruz
with a magical ring of breathless admirers around her, Whitney
Houston and Bobby Brown, belly to belly, shimmying their way
through the crowd... The VF party roster ran to 11 pages, single-spaced,
just the heavies.
Whitney in People: Both Entertainment Tonight and Access
Hollywood showed a preview of People Magazine's upcoming Oscar issue.
Whitney will be included among the pictures.
From the Platinum
Club: Whitney stepped out on the town with husband Bobby Sunday
evening to attend two high-profile post-Oscar night bashes. Whitney
and Bobby attended Vanity Fair's post-Oscar gala at L.A.'s posh
Morton's restaurant and attended Elton John's annual AIDS Foundation
post-Oscar night party as well. In other news, Bobby is currently
working on the production of a new motion picture titled, Go
For Broke in which he will star. |

Talks Bond! Entertainment Tonight spoke briefly with Whitney
last night at the Vanity Fair Oscar party and asked if the recent
Bond girl rumors were a possibility. Whitney said, "Possibility."
In addition, an E! News Daily reporter interviewed Whitney as she
was entering the Vanity Fair party and asked her about the Bond
rumors, and she said "I might" with a little smile on her face.
Whitney also said she was happy for Julia Roberts because she was
a big fan of hers, and for Russell Crowe because she loved the movie
"Gladiator." (Thanks Rashad, Marg)

CBS' Early Show aired a brief clip of Whitney today saying that
her Oscar party dress was designed by Pamela Dennis.
Whitney appeared on Good Morning America this morning for about
ten seconds. She was interviewed last night as she was going into
a party. She said the two best Oscar parties are the Vanity Fair
party and Elton John's party, and she was attending both. The latter
event is an annual benefit for the Elton John AIDS Foundation and
was co-hosted by In Style. (Thanks Ralph M.)
Whitney was included in the Oscar highlights show on Sky Movies
in the U.K. In the last ten minutes of the show, they showed excerpts
and mini interviews with stars from the Vanity Fair party. They
aired three small clips with Whitney:
1. They showed Whitney arriving, answering a question with, "We're
here to have fun and enjoy ourselves."
2. The Sky news reporter commented on how great Whitney looked,
and then asked if it was important to look good at these events.
Whitney, of course, replied it was really important.
3. Finally, they showed Whitney make comments on the Oscar broadcast.
She said: "It was a great show... I thought [host] Steve Martin
was really classy... and people we like actually won. We actually
like the people that won." (Thanks Craig)
The Spanish TV programs "Ahora" and "Gente" showed some footage
of Whitney as she was entering the Vanity Fair party. She told the
reporter that she had met Russell Crowe and she was really happy
for him because she loved the movie "Gladiator." She looked gorgeous!

Music Charts Update: News from Brazil |
| 2001/3/25 |
Here's
an excerpt from today's New York Daily News concurring with Entertainment
Tonight's Oscar report from Friday:
Vanity Fair editor Graydon Carter always likes to stir a little
scandal into his Oscar party. In past years, he has had Monica Lewinsky,
Heidi Fleiss and Victoria Gotti mixing with the movie stars and
studio heads. This year's notorious lady is Denise Rich. ...Tonight
is reserved for Oscar madness at Morton's restaurant. Due to join
her are the aforementioned [Jennifer] Lopez, Jennifer Aniston (minus
Brad Pitt, who's filming), Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown,
Cameron Diaz, Ben Affleck, Angelina Jolie and Billy Bob Thornton,
Sigourney Weaver, Renee Zellweger and all the Oscar nominees.
Music Charts Update: "Whitney: The Greatest
Hits" leaps up the U.K. Albums chart
The March 30, 2001 edition of Entertainment Weekly includes an article
on Craig Zadan and Neil Meron, co-producers behind Whitney's smash
TV remake of Cinderella. The article states "...Zadan and Meron's
ability to get high-wattage celebs to star gives them an advantage
(Whitney Houston, who played Cinderella's fairy godmother, contacted
Zadan and Meron after seeing Gypsy) [one of their earlier works]."
The article also includes a picture of Whitney and Brandy in full
costume. (Thanks John G.)

Confirmed!
Whitney Up for Role in Next James Bond Film!
Here is the brief transcript from Entertainment Tonight: ET has
confirmed that Whitney may Bond. Reports have surfaced that Whitney
Houston was going to be a Bond girl in the next 007 film. The studio
tells us they have not begun talks with Whitney, but they are scheduling
a meeting with her.
Additional Reports:
Click on the link at the left to read the original Bond news article
from the U.K. tabloid, The Sun, and a press pick-up from Reuters.
The Sun is not a very reliable source, but with the confirmation,
it's worth displaying. The Reuters story is currently all over the
news. In addition to the Bond story, The Sun also reports that Whitney
is in Los Angeles to film a pop video with the Backstreet Boys.
There is no confirmation about that at this time.
Whitney in Mauritius! You can

recent vacation off the coast of East Africa. The pictures are from
Voici Magazine: Pictures 1,

The following is a translated excerpt from the magazine: They spent
Saint Valentine together at the Hôtel Costes in Paris without their
little girl and took off to Mauritius afterwards. As they don't
like too much powder snow, they have chosen sun, dream beaches and
coconut trees to play Cinderella and her Prince. Whitney and Bobby
spent the last week of February at the Touessrock, a palace on the
seaside, facing "île aux Cerf" [an island]. (Many thanks Simon)
Tour Documentary Update: After
e-mail requests for information about the "My Love Is Your Love"
tour documentary that has yet to be released, the production company,
DoRo, replied, "We are working on it. We hope to have further news
in the fall. We hope that it will be available in autumn 2001."
(Thanks Marie-Eve, C.)
In the March 26th edition of People Magazine, there is a brief article
in the Style Watch section about Toni Braxton's upcoming wedding.
Here's the excerpt:
Songbird Toni Braxton has plenty to chirp about when it comes to
her April nuptials. I hear the fairy-tale wedding -- with a heavyweight
hush-hush guest list, including Oprah Winfrey, Bill and Hillary
Clinton, Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston -- has a strong
sponsorship element. Indeed, a source allows that Bentley, Tiffany
& Co., De Beers Diamonds and Vera Wang are all "partnering" the
event -- read coughing up free goods. Isn't it romantic? (Thanks

Japan
Award: According to Billboard Magazine, Whitney won an international
award at the Recording Industry Association of Japan's (RIAJ) 15th
annual Gold Disc Awards ceremony on March 14th. Winners for international
pop album were Black & Blue by Backstreet Boys (licensed to Avex),
Whitney: The Greatest Hits by Whitney Houston (BMG Funhouse),
1 by the Beatles (Toshiba-EMI), and A Day Without Rain by Enya (Warner
Japan). The RIAJ's Gold Disc Awards are based on sales for the period
between Feb. 1, 2000, and Jan. 31, 2001. The ceremony -- broadcast
live nationwide on NHK satellite TV -- serves as Japan's de facto
equivalent of the Grammys. The country, which is the world's second-biggest
music market after the U.S., has no organization like the National
Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences, the body responsible for
the Grammys.
Divine Divas: Are you interested in hearing "It Isn't, It
Wasn't, It Ain't Never Gonna Be" live? Although Whitney hasn't been
reported so far as a participant in the upcoming "VH-1 Divas Live"
tribute to Aretha Franklin, you can still vote to hear that song
during the show by clicking
here. It doesn't mean we'll get Whitney to actually appear on
the show, but we can still show our interest in seeing her live
regardless. As we know, Whitney recorded the duet on Aretha's "Through
The Storm" album in 1989. (Thanks Eduardo)

The picture, taken during promotion for the movie "Waiting To Exhale,"
is included with an article about the author, Terry McMillan.
Last week on VH1's game show, "Name That Video," Whitney's music
video for "I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Who Loves Me)" was one of
the videos the contestant had to identify in the show's lightning
round. The contestant first guessed "I Wanna Know," "How Will I
Know," and finally he guessed the correct answer to win a Toyota
SUV. (Thanks Jack) |

According
to the New York Post's Cindy Adams, Whitney reportedly plans to
attend the premiere of the movie, "The Brothers," this Wednesday
along with Sean "Puffy" Combs' former girlfriend Kim Porter, who
is in the movie.
America Online has a poll to vote for the hottest pop duets, including
Whitney and Enrique Iglesias' "Could I Have This Kiss Forever."
Whitney's song is last on the list. AOL users can vote for Whitney
at AOL Music: Hot Song. (Thanks Razak)
Whitney's "I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Who Loves Me)" was included
on last night's "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire" game show. The contestant
received the title "I Wanna... Who Loves Me" and had to fill in
the blank with the correct answer. (Thanks Marg)
On BET, male R&B singer Musiq (who sings "Just Friends" and "Love")
was asked what singers influenced him and who he likes. He named

Charts Update: News from the U.K.

One
Loss: Unfortunately, Whitney did not win the 2001 German Echo
Award as Best International Singer - Female. The award went to Britney
Spears instead. (Thanks Simon, Janis)
One Gain: According to The Press Association Limited, Whitney
won the Best International Female Award at the Meteor Ireland Music
Awards in Dublin, Ireland. The event was aimed at raising IR£170,000
for AIDS. Other international awards went to The Beatles, Eminem,
David Gray, Emmylou Harris and Morcheeba, while Irish prizes were
won by Ronan Keating, Louis Walsh, U2, Westlife, Samantha Mumba
and Christy Moore. Whitney did not attend the show.
Clive Chat: I attended a party at the Bottom Line in New
York that was thrown yesterday for Alicia Keys, one of the new artists
Clive Davis has signed to J Records. Clive introduced her before
she came out for her 40-minute set. He mentioned Whitney during
his speech, talking about the day that he introduced her on that
"very stage" and how she went on to be "his music daughter." The
show was set up for mostly press and marketing people. After it
was over Clive stood around to greet and talk to whomever wanted
to talk to him. Since this was not the first time I got to speak
with him, I was not at all nervous. I walked up and congratulated
him on J and Alicia. I then told him how much I wished that he had
taken Whitney with him to J and how I felt L.A. Reid had ruined
what should have been Whitney's best-selling CD to date. He agreed
that L.A. "ruined" the CD (I said it first but he repeated it and
added a little laugh) and told me, "I will be working with Whitney
again very soon -- yeah in the very near future." I told him that
I couldn't wait and I said my good-byes. (Thanks Alan M.)
World Music Charts: Statistics from France,
Germany and Switzerland
The "VH1 All Access: Hot Bodies" poll is still going. As reported,
Whitney was nominated in two categories -- Best Mouth and Best Diaphragm.
If you don't want to see Whitney ranked yet again by VH1 in the
lower half of the list, click
here to vote for her. The show is due to premiere on March 22nd.
A recent episode of the U.S. game show version of "Who Wants To
Be A Millionaire" included the question: "In the 1992 movie 'The
Bodyguard,' the bodyguard was guarding?" and the choices were a
pop star, a first lady and two other options. The contestant answered
by saying, "That was Whitney Houston so it's pop star." He was right
of course and won the $1000 question. By the way, there is a karate
movie staring Jet Li [star of "Romeo Must Die"] called "The Bodyguard
From Beijing." It's actually a 1994 Hong Kong remake of Whitney
and Kevin Costner's "The Bodyguard." (Thanks Carolyn)
