The
Whitney Weekday Request Campaign
has been divided by the letters of the alphabet. For example, if
your last name begins with the letter "A," you can proceed to the
row for "A" and call or e-mail any 3-5 radio stations in that section.
The letters will change everyday. The goal is to help ensure that
each state gets votes everyday, without all of us voting in huge
blocks.
Here is Another Option For Anyone With E-mail that Includes a
Line For BCC. This method enables you to send a single message
to DJs across the country without revealing that other DJs are receiving
your message at the same time.
DO NOT do this if your e-mail software does not provide a line called
BCC!!!
Non-AOL users click here.
AOL users have to use this different
method instead.
Note: While the BCC method will be quite effective, it excludes
many radio stations that do not provide direct e-mail addresses.
Therefore, if you have five minutes, continue to check out the
complete request list, because there are many links there that
will take you to radio station web sites where you'll be able
to send your e-mail message easily. Thanks!

New RealVideo: While the rest of the site's RealAudio and
RealVideo files are down temporarily, here are just a few RealVideo
files from the recent E! "True Hollywood Story" documentary.
I've placed these three clips on a temporary server for now for
those of you who haven't seen the documentary. I've posted these
online because they rely mainly on interviews with people Whitney
used to work with early in her career. The rest of E!'s documentary
was basically of little or no value since there were an enormous
amount of factual errors whenever E!'s narrator took over.

bit on why she reportedly became frustrated with the profession

the company's initial trouble finding the right songs for her

of "Saving All My Love For You," plus tidbits on how Arista, particularly
Clive Davis, changed Whitney's natural look to focus more on the
Pop/general music market
Silver Spoons: Cable channel Nickelodeon plans to reair
an episode of the sitcom "Silver Spoons" called "Head Over Heels."
The episode features Whitney, who even sings "Saving All My Love
For You" during the program. The show will air on Monday, March
5th at 11:30 p.m. EST. (Thanks Carista) For additional
Whitney appearances, check the Nippy Events
Calendar.

| It's
Great To Be Back! Apologies to everyone who may have visited
this site over the past week only to find that it was offline! The
site's web host had to work on the server all week and I didn't
even have a chance to warn you all in advance. Since I couldn't
post any news here for the past seven days, I had to send the Whitney
news updates via the site's mailing list. I've
now posted those news updates below. My
e-mail is also working correctly, so you can send
me news as usual from now on. One thing I must note -- unfortunately
the site's RealAudio and RealVideo files have been temporarily removed
due to the server problem. They will be restored as soon as I can
sort everything out. Lastly, thank you very much to everyone who
e-mailed me nice messages over the past week when the site was down.
I really appreciated that. It would take an eternity to break us! |

Africa
Update: According to a local newspaper in Tanzania, Whitney
went to Rwanda/Burundi and Uganda during her vacation -- some of
the poorest countries in East Africa. She went there for charity
to children whose parents died from AIDS, but none of her good deeds
were reported in the U.S. After her charitable work, she went to
Tanzania and was staying at a luxurious new hotel in Dar-es-Salaam
city by the beach. Some people said she was really busy reading
and always had a pile of papers, likely scripts, but was very friendly.

pre-Grammy party last night. She is reportedly on vacation in Africa.
Grammy Results: Hex Hector won a Grammy Award tonight as
Remixer of the Year, Non-Classical for his remixes, including "I
Learned From The Best." Whitney did not appear during the show.
Here's a blurb from the March 2001 issue of In Style Magazine related
to Whitney and Bobby's performance in the Bahamas last December:
A Big Splash; At the Ocean Club, stars find their own private paradise
Getting a jump on their winter holidays, a group of sun-starved
jet-setters flew to Paradise Island in the Bahamas for the opening
of the renovated Ocean Club. "I'm from Jersey," said Ray Liotta,
"so tropical is the ideal vacation." Aside from catching rays, guests
looked forward to the catch of the day at the resort's eatery, Dune,
not to mention the after-dinner music. "The reason I'm here is
Whitney--I'd fly around the world to hear her sing," Natasha Richardson
said of the entertainment. Houston did not disappoint, checking
any diva attitude at the door to share a stage with Bobby Brown,
Stevie Wonder and Gloria Estefan. Before it was all over, Star
Jones was already planning her next trip: "I want to bring my father,
my mother and my honey. Hey, Star just got her groove back!"
Here's a silly bit from the same issue of In Style: Roxanna Floyd,
makeup artist to Whitney Houston and Angela Bassett, relates, "When
I used to pluck Whitney's eyebrows, she would run from me yelling,
'I can't take it!' I found Tweezerman tweezers and now we have no
problems." |

TV Reminder: As already reported, the E! Entertainment Channel
will air a "True Hollywood Story" two-hour documentary about Whitney
and Bobby's personal lives on February 18th at 9 p.m. EST. It will
then be repeated the following day at 12 a.m. EST. Hopefully E!
will attempt to be classy. For more schedule information about Whitney,
check the Nippy Events Calendar.
Here is an excerpt about Whitney from Penn State University's Daily
Collegian student newspaper. The article is about the fifth anniversary
of the Bryce Jordan Center and the singers who have performed there:
Occasionally, however, research on behalf of the center pays off
for fans. Whitney Houston, for example, initially denied meet-and-greets
during her visit (July 22, 1999 - during the "My Love Is Your Love"
tour), but when Punt (director of public relations) discovered she
was a former model for Seventeen magazine, he called the editor
and arranged a promotional contest. Houston agreed and the winning
girl met Houston before the show. (Thanks Dan L.)
Earlier this week, BBC 1 showed a few seconds of Whitney and Bobby
performing in the Bahamas last December. Emma Bunton (the Spice
Girls' Baby Spice) was also invited as a guest by the hotel. Viewers
could see some images from the bedroom where Whitney slept. It was
really luxurious. For anyone who missed it, here
is RealVideo and screen
captures showing part of Whitney and Bobby's performance that
aired on U.S. entertainment news shows late last year. (Thanks
Stijn)
