The
Whitney Weekday Request Campaign
has been divided by the letters of the alphabet. For example, if
your last name begins with the letter "A," you can proceed to the
row for "A" and call or e-mail any 3-5 radio stations in that section.
The letters will change everyday. The goal is to help ensure that
each state gets votes everyday, without all of us voting in huge
blocks.
Here is Another Option For Anyone With E-mail that Includes a
Line For BCC. This method enables you to send a single message
to DJs across the country without revealing that other DJs are receiving
your message at the same time.
DO NOT do this if your e-mail software does not provide a line called
BCC!!!
Non-AOL users click here.
AOL users have to use this different
method instead.
Note: While the BCC method will be quite effective, it excludes
many radio stations that do not provide direct e-mail addresses.
Therefore, if you have five minutes, continue to check out the
complete request list, because there are many links there that
will take you to radio station web sites where you'll be able
to send your e-mail message easily. Thanks!

Happy
Valentine's Day!
New York City-based remixer Razor (Junior's protege, formerly of
Razor & Guido), finished his remix for "If I Told You That" at the
end of January. This is not freelance work. Hosh Guerelli gave him
the acapella when he was still at Arista and asked him to hold off
for a while. The remix has a lot of energy. Guerelli was A&R for
all things dance music-related for Arista for many years, though
he left recently to work at Clive Davis' new company. (Thanks
Darren)
Please take a few minutes to request "If I Told You That" at U.S.
radio stations and music
video channels! As already reported, the song has begun to receive
airplay at select stations and has been serviced to MTV, VH1 and
BET. It's also being played in Canada. When requesting the video,
remember to delete your cookies! |

continue to vote for Whitney as your favorite Favorite R&B Female
Artist nominee at the Blockbuster Entertainment Awards! One ballot
per e-mail address will be counted per day.
Also, please vote
for someone other than Whitney in USA Today's online Diva Survivor

would you vote off? Whitney is currently a close second to Celine
Dion. Please vote for the other artists directly ahead and behind
of Whitney so she can stay at the bottom of the list. Do not vote
for Whitney! (Thanks Gary) |

Pot
Parley by Whitney & Hawaii
Whitney Houston may be getting another chance. Last week, Aloha
State prosecutors asked that a plea agreement in a pot case against
Houston be thrown out, claiming the star failed to meet with a certified
counselor for a drug assessment test by Feb. 1. Now, Houston's legal
counsel is trying to smooth things over. "Her lawyers are in the
process of setting up a conference call with our office to discuss
the matter further," deputy prosecutor Mel Fujino tells us. Houston,
who was facing a maximum of 30 days in jail, pleaded no contest
to a misdemeanor marijuana charge stemming from her January 2000
run-in with officials at Keahole-Kona International Airport. (From
New York Daily News)

New RealAudio: Listen
to the unofficial "Fine (I Feel Love Mix)" which combines Whitney's
song with music from Donna Summer's "I Feel Love" dance track.
MTV's "Ultra Sound: Break-Ups & Make-Ups," which debuted yesterday,
talked about how many famous couples buckle under the pressure of
media scrutiny. They cited Whitney and Bobby as an example of one
of the few who have been bombarded but have been able to stay together
for almost 10 years. The show touched on how people thought they
were oddly matched in the beginning and predicted it would never
last. But the show noted that throughout Bobby's troubles and the
most recent stories about Whitney, negative outside forces have
seemed to only make their bond stronger. It also quoted Whitney
saying, "It's none of your business, still," and then flashing a
smile. At the end, she said the media is not going to break them
down. (Thanks Rashad) |

New Review: Rolling Stone's March 2001 issue contains two
articles about the recent Wyclef Jean benefit concert. The print
edition is different from their earlier reported online
review. The first article quotes Whitney saying, "There is no
greater joy, than when you are entertaining, to know that the profits
are going to help educate our kids." In the performance review section,
the reviewer wrote "...the roof raising potential of many of his
guests was not fully realized. The night proved many peaks as well.
Houston delivered the most soaring of those -- and, presumably ended
rumors that she is in anything less than top form." (Thanks John
G.)
Tomorrow, February 11th, CDnow will spotlight Whitney and Brandy
as part of their promotion for Black History Month. You can save
up to 30% on their music, as well as items by all featured Black
History Month entertainers. You can check out the store's tributes
and profiles here.

"Heartbreak Hotel" is down to No. 91 from No. 69 this week on the
Dutch Veronica Top 100 after eight weeks. (Thanks Eddy VB)
Yesterday, VH1 aired the 50 Greatest Soundtracks of All Time, hosted
by Cynthia Garrett. Whitney's "The Bodyguard" came in at No. 1!

Excerpt from The Daily Telegraph (London):
Top five love songs chosen by Otis Williams of The Temptations
1.'My Girl', The Temptations (1965)
2. 'I Will Always Love You', Whitney Houston
(1992) - I know Dolly Parton wrote this song, but I like Whitney's
version better. The way that she starts it off acapella is interesting,
and then it builds to an incredible crescendo. She has an amazing
voice, and she delivers this song with so much conviction.
3. 'Never Too Much', Luther Vandross (1983)
4. 'For the Love of You', The Isley Brothers (1975)
5. 'Stay', The Temptations (1998) |

According to RTL, "Heartbreak Hotel" will be released as a single
on February 26th in Germany. As already reported, the song recently
jumped to No. 29 from No. 80 on the German Top 100 Airplay chart.
RTL also aired a short clip that looked like the "Heartbreak Hotel"
music video. (Thanks Tom)
MTV U.K.'s R&B chart show "The Late Lick" showed Whitney's "Fine"
video. VJ Trevor Nelson said some very nice things about Whitney,
saying how gorgeous she looked in the video, and calling her "the
best singer of her generation." He also ruefully mentioned that
these days we seem to hear more about the alleged contents of her
medicine cabinet than her music. (Thanks Dominic)
MTV will air "Ultra Sound: Break-Ups, Make-Ups & Flame-Outs" on
Saturday, February 10th at 2 p.m. EST. The promo for the show includes
clips of old interviews with Whitney and Bobby as well as other
famous couples, so there's a chance they may be included. (Thanks
John G.)

Happy
32nd Birthday to Bobby Brown!
The following is an excerpt from a Canadian radio interview with
singer Lionel Ritchie: "Whitney is an all around entertainer.
Her voice is the best in the business. And I know many in the real
music world who will contend that she is the best in 30 years. But
again, we don't want to step on any egos. When I first worked with
Whitney on 'The Preacher's Wife,' I was amazed at her ability to
sing gracefully, technically and emotionally. Do you know how many
times that girl sang 'I Believe In You And Me?' Over ten times,
in the final mix, they combined three of the ten performances which
was totally unnecessary. When I played that piano, trying my best
to concentrate on the actual playing was a very difficult task.
Whitney's voice is a gift from God. She is music without end. I
wrote several songs for an upcoming album of hers and we will do
our duet together someday." (Thanks Manish)
