The
Whitney Weekday Request Campaign
has been divided by the letters of the alphabet. For example, if
your last name begins with the letter "A," you can proceed
to the row for "A" and call or e-mail any 3-5 radio stations
in that section. The letters will change everyday. The goal is to
help ensure that each state gets votes everyday, without all of
us voting in huge blocks.
Here is Another Option For Anyone With E-mail that Includes a
Line For BCC. This method enables you to send a single message
to DJs across the country without revealing that other DJs are receiving
your message at the same time.
DO NOT do this if your e-mail software does not provide a line called
BCC!!!
Non-AOL users click here.
AOL users have to use this different
method instead.
Note: While the BCC method will be quite effective, it excludes
many radio stations that do not provide direct e-mail addresses.
Therefore, if you have five minutes, continue to check out the
complete request list, because there are many links there that
will take you to radio station web sites where you'll be able
to send your e-mail message easily. Thanks!

You can request the song by clicking here.
It requires you to choose five songs, so please try not to request
other songs that may hurt its chances. (Thanks Marg)

Whitney's daughter in the past. Authorities plan to launch an investigation
of security at the facility. Read the complete story...

weeks on the chart. (Thanks Eddy VB)
Whitney's "Greatest Love Of All" was on MTV's Jackass show today.
The show regularly features the hosts making fools of themselves
and attempting ridiculous stunts. They had a Promotional Video Countdown
today and Whitney's song came in as the No. 1 video. (Thanks

On a recent episode of Lifetime's Intimate Portrait, they interviewed
Lela Rochon [Waiting to Exhale]. When that portion of her life was
mentioned, she said everyone who starred in the movie genuinely
liked and got along with each other. A lot of pictures were shown
with the cast and Whitney was in all of them. (Thanks Carolyn)

On the Charts: The Greatest Hits DVD slips
again on the Music Videos chart
In next week's TV Guide (Jan. 27 - Feb. 2), on page four, there
is a column called "The Insider List." This week's topic is in honor
of Sunday's Superbowl XXXV. They ranked the top five best national
anthem performances of all time, and guess who came in at No. 1?!
Who else -- THE VOICE -- Whitney Houston of course! Billy Joel,
Faith Hill, Wynton Marsalis and Vanessa L. Williams followed on
the list respectively. The article states:
WHITNEY HOUSTON: Superbowl XXV (1991), New
York Giants vs. Buffalo Bills - The gospelicious diva delivers an
uplifting performance that gives voice to Americans' patriotism
during the Gulf War. So beloved, it closes the CD "Whitney: The
Greatest Hits." (Thanks Rashad)
According to Italian magazine "TV Sorrisi & Canzoni," the Greatest
Hits is at No. 45 on the albums chart by Top of the Music/Nielsen/C.R.A.
this week. (Thanks Rosilde)

L.A.
Reid Talks: The New York Daily News has been buzzing that
L.A. Reid was starting to publicly criticize Arista Records founder
Clive Davis in an interview in New York Magazine. The issue has
since been made available to the public and you can click on the
link above to read it. The article mentions Whitney several times.
Among everything that is discussed, Reid apparently lays most or
all the blame for the "Whitney: The Greatest Hits" lack of marketing
on his predecessors, indicating that he "realized that this thing
was headed nowhere" when he stepped in, despite the fact that the
album had debuted strongly last May. The article is quite long,
but it is definitely worth reading. The sections pertaining to Whitney
have been highlighted.
The Record Is Not Over Yet: Please continue to request "If
I Told You That" in the U.S. and Canada. You can request the music
video here, and you can request
the song at radio stations by visiting the Whitney Weekday Request
Campaign here. As already reported, the
video is getting airplay on BET and also debuted on Entertainment
Tonight.
More Reviews: Read
two articles about the Wyclef Jean Foundation benefit concert at
Carnegie Hall last Friday. USA Today gives Whitney a glowing review
(and notes her greeting to Clive Davis in the audience), and her
performance is detailed briefly by The New York Times.
Superbowl Flashbacks:
Read three articles that look back at Superbowl XXV and Whitney's
famous renditon of "The Star-Spangled Banner." The first article,
from USA Today, gives interesting background details about the atmosphere
at the stadium and how officials actually asked Whitney to re-record
the anthem because they felt it was not traditional enough. Whitney's
camp refused, and the rest is history. The second and third articles,
from The New York Times and St. Petersburg Times respectively, show
the impact her performance had on Americans who watched it.

Whitney
& Wyclef: Read the first review of Wyclef Jean's benefit
at Carnegie Hall tonight. As reported, Whitney performed "My
Love Is Your Love" and "I Go To The Rock."
World Music Charts: Statistics
from Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Ireland, Sweden and Switzerland
Poland's Radio Zet web site reported that Wyclef Jean is now working
"on new projects for Whitney Houston, Destiny's Child and Eric Clapton."
It is not possible to tell whether they are referring to the Carnegie
Hall benefit concert tonight or new songs. However, keep in mind
that all the artists mentioned in the report performed at tonight's
benefit. (Thanks Sylwia)
Another One Of Those Strange VH1 Polls:
The music channel has launched another poll, this time entitled
"VH1 All Access: Body Beautiful," due to premiere on March 22nd.
Whitney was nominated in two categories -- Best Mouth and Best Diaphragm.
If you don't want to see Whitney ranked yet again by VH1 in the
lower half of the list, please
click here to vote for her. Oddly enough, Whitney is currently
in second place behind Britney Spears in the "Best Mouth" category
and is in third place for "Best Diaphragm," behind Mariah Carey
and Christina Aguilera. VH1 did not disclose how they determined
the nominations. (Thanks Sylwia) |

Premiere: Entertainment Tonight premiered the "If I Told You
That" music video today, showing excerpts and some familiar behind-the-scenes
footage from the video shoot last year. They said the video
was filmed in New York over a two-day period due to time constraints,
and it was filmed at a soundstage that was made to look like a club.
They also said that Whitney wanted to have a chance to work with
George Michael. ET also played the video during its closing credits.
(Thanks Rashad) Please continue to request the
video and the song at U.S. and Canadian
music channels and radio stations. Thanks!
New Documentary: VH1 will present ''Say It Loud: Black Music
In America'' this fall, a five-part documentary series chronicling
the evolution and impact of African American music, it was announced
today. The series will recount the story of black music from its
roots in Africa to the present day through firsthand accounts, rare
footage and artist interviews to be conducted in February and March.
The series, which will cover jazz, blues, gospel and hip hop through
to modern R&B and soul, was envisioned by Quincy Jones, who will
co-executive produce the project, said VH1's Jeff Gaspin. In addition
to co-producing the VH1 special, Rhino Records plans to release
a companion box set and home videos simultaneously, he said. The
series will chronicle the contributions of African American musicians
like Aretha Franklin, Duke Ellington, Marvin Gaye, Michael Jackson,
Isaac Hayes, Tina Turner, Prince, Tupac Shakur, Miles Davis, Billie
Holiday, Robert Johnson, Whitney Houston,
Sam Cooke, Dr. Dre and Al Green.
Fans in Spain: The longer version of the "Whitney: The Greatest
Hits" DVD (which includes "Exhale (Shoop Shoop)" and "I Believe

BET's
"106 & Park" show premiered "If I Told You That" as the new joint
of the day! The audience members who were interviewed said the video
is "hot," and they felt like "getting up and dancing with them."
(Thanks Rashad) Please request the video as much as possible
at BET and other music channels by clicking
here.
In addition, you can start requesting the song at U.S. radio stations
by using links within the Whitney Weekday
Request Campaign. Please try to follow the campaign instructions
so we don't overwhelm the radio stations. It's still too early to
bombard them! You can say that you saw the video on BET, or that
you heard part of it while flipping past another station, or that
you read a review for it and wanted to hear the song, or any other
suitable reason that you can think of. And if you hear the song
on your local station, you can request to hear it again. U.S. fans
-- let me know if your station is playing
it! Thanks!
Yesterday night, the "Fine" music video was released on MTV BASE
