The Whitney Weekday Request Campaign has been divided by the letters of the alphabet. For example, if your last name begins with the letter "A," you can proceed to the row for "A" and call or e-mail any 3-5 radio stations in that section. The letters will change everyday. The goal is to help ensure that each state gets votes everyday, without all of us voting in huge blocks.

Here is Another Option For Anyone With E-mail that Includes a Line For BCC. This method enables you to send a single message to DJs across the country without revealing that other DJs are receiving your message at the same time.
DO NOT do this if your e-mail software does not provide a line called BCC!!!

  • Non-AOL users click here.
  • AOL users have to use this different method instead.

Note: While the BCC method will be quite effective, it excludes many radio stations that do not provide direct e-mail addresses. Therefore, if you have five minutes, continue to check out the complete request list, because there are many links there that will take you to radio station web sites where you'll be able to send your e-mail message easily. Thanks!

    Happy New Year!

Music Charts Update: Statistics from the U.K. and Finland, plus year-end news from Denmark

The following brief is from US Weekly's January 8-15th issue, accompanied by a full-page picture of Whitney and Michael Jackson at the previously reported KTU benefit:
Surprise, Surprise: Houston And Jackson Drop In On A New York Concert
Whitney Houston and Michael Jackson showed up unannounced at the third-annual "Miracle on 34th Street" concert at New York's Madison Square Garden on December 19. The event, sponsored by New Jersey radio station KTU, benefited Toys for Tots and other charities and featured holiday-spirited performances by Christina Aguilera, Ricky Martin and more. After Destiny Child's set, actor Liam Neeson took the stage to introduce the evening's first special guest: Houston. The singer belted out her hit "The Greatest Love Of All," which turned into a duet when singer Marc Anthony helped her finish the tune. "You're the man," she said to Anthony in a private moment offstage. "You've been given a gift." For the finale, all the stars came together for a rendition of the Jacksons' 1978 hit "Shake Your Body (Down to the Ground)." Halfway through the song, the man himself appeared onstage. But the 19,000 attendees got only an eyeful - not an earful - of Jackson. "I have laryngitis," he explained to the crowd. "I can't perform tonight, but I wanted to say Merry Christmas and I love you all."

Radio Donna, one of the most popular radio stations in Belgium, broadcasted a complete all-time Top 2000 chart this week compiled by its listeners. This "very subjective" Top 2000 contains six Whitney songs: "I Will Always Love You" (at No. 31), "When You Believe" (at No. 333), "I Wanna Dance With Somebody" (at No. 732), "All At Once" (at No. 804), "Greatest Love Of All (at No. 1149), and "How Will I Know" (at No. 1246). (Thanks Eddy VB)

"The Preacher's Wife" was watched by 3.5 million people in Spain on Friday, amounting to 27% of the TV audience that night. (Thanks Juan Luis)

Note to U.K. Fans: As already reported, the Arista 25th Anniversary concert will air on Channel 4 on New Year's Day at 11:30 p.m. However, according to a local magazine, it will only last an hour, so Whitney's performance will likely be very edited. (Thanks James)

Friday night on channel France 2, French singer Julie Zenatti (who's a great Whitney Houston fan) sang "Run To You" on a show called "Des femmes en or." She said that for her, Whitney is the best singer of all time. (Thanks Caro)

World Music Charts: The latest statistics from Austria, Belgium, Canada, Germany, Ireland and Sweden, plus year-end chart news from The Netherlands

DVD Update: The following is an e-mail response from Disney Online Guest Services regarding whether "The Preacher's Wife" will be released on DVD in the U.S. All of Whitney's other movies have been released on DVD in the U.S. by their respective distributors:
Thank you for your email. A release date for THE PREACHER'S WIFE on DVD has not been set. We have great number of titles in our vault and everyone has their favorites. Unfortunately, it is not possible to release or have all our titles in the DVD market at once and so we have limited the availability of older titles. We do release older titles on a regular basis. If you have any other questions concerning our videos and DVD's, or would like to be sent a list of available videos and DVD's, or would like to request that a particular film be released on video, please call 1-800-723-4763 or our Canadian toll-free number 1-888-877-BVHE.
Since they include toll free numbers, U.S. and Canadian fans can call to tell them that the DVD should be issued, and also request bonus footage such as outtakes, deleted scenes and that lovely footage that director Penny Marshall shot of Whitney singing in church when she said she "caught the spirit." (Thanks Alan M.)

"Heartbreak Hotel" is up 45 places(!) to No. 38 this week on the Dutch Veronica Top 100 after two weeks on the chart. In addition, "Could I Have This Kiss Forever" is down one place to No. 61 after sixteen weeks.

This week, some Belgian shops gave customers a bonus a pair of gloves, a hat or bath towel if you bought "Whitney: The Greatest Hits." It was remarkable to see how many people bought a copy, or an extra copy. (Thanks Eddy VB)

Music Charts Update: Read how Whitney finished on CNN's Worldbeat Global Album Chart, and New Zealand's year-end singles chart

The following list is from a Billboard Radio Countdown "Top 20 Divas" special. To qualify, a female artist had to have at least ten Top 40 hits on the Billboard Hot 100, and had to have been a solo artist for at least some part of her career. The Top 10 chart entries for each artist who qualified were the only ones considered when adding up points. The number of points each song earned in the forthcoming third edition of "Billboard's Hottest Hot 100 Hits" were added together. The artists were then ranked in order of their total number of points. The female artists who ranked No. 2, 3, and 4 on the list were so close together in points that a couple more weeks in the Top 5 for any of them could have resulted in a different ranking. (Thanks Rachel)

There are two beautiful pictures of Whitney in the Polish magazine entitled Flash. The first one shows Whitney wearing a gorgeous white gown with a caption that details the Hawaii acquittal, and the second is a picture of Whitney and Donatella Versace that accompanies an article about a recent celebrity-filled bash organized by Donatella. (Thanks John G.)

On the Charts: "Whitney: The Greatest Hits" increases in sales over the holidays and re-enters the Billboard 200 with a bullet, on its own. Unfortunately, Arista did not provide any noticeable advertising or other marketing for the album in the U.S. during the key holiday shopping season. Read the complete statistics...

Fans in Poland: Channel TVP2 will broadcast "The Preacher's Wife" on December 30th at 15.30. In addition, Channel Wizja Jeden will air the Arista 25th Anniversary concert at 19.45 on January 1st . (Thanks Sylwia, Maciej)

Yesterday, the Italian version of "Big Brother" (watched by about 11 million people) played Whitney's "I Will Always Love You" as they showed some pictures from when one of the contestants was away from the house. (The show's contestants live together in a house and are eliminated until one person is left to win a prize). While contestant Cristina was watching her pictures, she listened to the song and said, "Wonderful song, incredible voice and extraordinary singer. A fair decision for this moment." (Thanks Rosilde)

Here's another article about the KTU "Miracle On 34th Street" benefit where Whitney appeared earlier this week. KTU's vice president calls Whitney's short performance with Marc Anthony the highlight of the show...

TMF Belgium will broadcast the Factory 40 for the entire year 2000 this weekend. Whitney's duet with Enrique Iglesias, "Could I Have This Kiss Forever," finished at eighth place. It was undoubtedly one of the most successful singles of the year in Belgium. (Thanks Eddy VB)

Do You See What I See? There is a music video for Whitney's rendition of "Do You Hear What I Hear." While I haven't seen the entire video, the end of it features Whitney's mother and a choir. It is not Whitney's live performance from the Tonight Show in 1990. Now would be the best time to look for it and request it at music video channels, if they give that option. (Thanks Daniel L.)

On the Charts: "Whitney: The Greatest Hits" jumps ten places on the R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart due to expected holiday sales. Unfortunately, without advertising by Arista, the album has been left on its own in the U.S. Read the complete statistics...

Click here to read two reports about the KTU "Miracle On 34th Street" benefit on Tuesday night. As already reported, Whitney was a surprise guest during the concert.

New RealVideo and Screen Captures: See and hear excerpts from Whitney's surprise appearance last night at KTU's annual "Miracle On 34th Street" benefit concert! She sang "Greatest Love Of All" with Marc Anthony and introduced Michael Jackson. The clips aired on Entertainment Tonight, Access Hollywood and E! News Daily. Brief reports have also aired on local newscasts and the syndicated show Extra, as well as overseas.

Here's a fan's firsthand account of Whitney's surprise appearance with additional details that were not reported:
Whitney was a surprise guest at KTU's Miracle on 34th Street Celebration Concert at Madison Square Garden. She was introduced by Liam Neeson to present the Humanitarian Award to Marc Anthony, and Liam said, "I would like to invite one of Marc's favorite singers as well as mine, the one, the only Mrs. Whitney Houston." And dressed in a beautiful black leather coat with black pants and long curls like she had at the Atlantic City show in July (the first show) she walked out and paid tribute to Marc. She also said she wanted to sing part of a song with him, so she cued the band to play in the key of G and sang the final bridge of "Greatest Love of All" with Marc Anthony, making it one of the most powerful moments of the show. Everyone was on their feet screaming in excitement, and after Marc's performance, Whitney came out once again to lead the pack of singers in the finale which was "Shake Your Body (To The Ground)" and was side by side with the special invitee, Michael Jackson. All in all it was an amazing moment and possibly one of the best Whitney experiences I've ever had. (Thank you Brian D.)

Click here to see a Reuters photo of Whitney with Marc Anthony last night at the KTU benefit.

"Could I Have This Kiss Forever" remains at No. 7 this week on the European Top 20 as broadcasted by MTV today. (Thanks Eddy VB)

Jet Magazine republished a picture of Whitney and Bobby's reunion together in Florida earlier this year as one of their choices for the year's best photos.

"The Bodyguard" reaired tonight on CBS, hosted by Kevin Costner. Although he discussed the movie a bit, he didn't reveal anything new. He mentioned the initial hesitation to use "I Will Always Love You" in the movie, and quipped that many people now have the haircut he wore in the movie.

From the New York Daily News: If all goes well, singer/actress Whitney Houston just might be the next big, bad blacktress, as Warner Bros. wants to remake its 1973 action flick "Cleopatra Jones" as a vehicle for the diva. The original movie starred Tamara Dobson as a street-fighting U.S. agent assigned to crack down on drug trafficking.

New RealAudio: Listen to what is known as the unreleased "It's Not Right But It's Okay" Thunderpuss Anthem Mix 16:49. It has been divided into two parts because of its length. (Many thanks Sausalito)

Excerpt from CNN interview with teen opera singer Charlotte Church:
CNN: What music do you listen to?
Church: I listen to R&B and hip-hop and stuff like that. I really like Destiny's Child, Lauryn Hill, Jill Scott and Kelis. Jill Scott's my favorite at the moment, and I also like Santana and Whitney Houston. (Thanks Seng Soon Y.)
