The
Whitney Weekday Request Campaign
has been divided by the letters of the alphabet. For example, if
your last name begins with the letter "A," you can proceed
to the row for "A" and call or e-mail any 3-5 radio stations
in that section. The letters will change everyday. The goal is to
help ensure that each state gets votes everyday, without all of
us voting in huge blocks.
Here is Another Option For Anyone With E-mail that Includes a
Line For BCC. This method enables you to send a single message
to DJs across the country without revealing that other DJs are receiving
your message at the same time.
DO NOT do this if your e-mail software does not provide a line called
BCC!!!
Non-AOL users click here.
AOL users have to use this different
method instead.
Note: While the BCC method will be quite effective, it excludes
many radio stations that do not provide direct e-mail addresses.
Therefore, if you have five minutes, continue to check out the
complete request list, because there are many links there that
will take you to radio station web sites where you'll be able
to send your e-mail message easily. Thanks!

Here
is the front and back
cover of the new Spanish 5-track CD single for "Heartbreak
Hotel," which is now available in many Barcelona stores. The
tracklisting is as follows:
Heartbreak Hotel (RIP Radio Mix) 3:40
Love To Infinity Megamix (Edit) 5:17
Heartbreak Hotel (Album Version) 3:59
Heartbreak Hotel (Undadoggz Club Rub Pt 2) 4:30
Love To Infinity Megamix 9:22
The "Love To Infinity Megamix" includes "I Wanna
Dance With Somebody (Who Loves Me)," "I'm Every Woman,"
"I'm Your Baby Tonight," "It's Not Right But It's
Okay" and "So Emotional." (Thanks Eduardo, also
Mari)
From The Times (London): The Mail on Sunday, which was
also offering a free Whitney Houston CD, hit the second highest
sale in its history - more than 2.5 million, up 206,000 on the
previous week. Rivals estimate that, apart from the cost of giving
the paper away for a penny instead of a pound, The Mail on Sunday
spent more than Pounds 1 million on the Whitney Houston promotion,
so each new Mail on Sunday reader cost Pounds 5.
Espirit
International lists the following for the "Heartbreak Hotel"
U.K. singles that are expected to be released on Monday: There
will be a 4-track CD single including the R.I.P. Radio Edit, Undadoggz
Club Rub Part 1 and two other tracks, and also a limited edition
vinyl 12" featuring the R.I.P. Vocal Mix 9:31, Undadoggz Club
Rub Part 1 5:58 and Undadoggz Club Rub Part 2 4:30, both with
picture sleeves. Both items are now listed in stock.

New
RealAudio: Listen to the new "Heartbreak Hotel"
R.I.P. Vocal Mix 9:31 and Greatest Hits Megamix. The Megamix, a
great idea from BMG, comes just in time to remind holiday shoppers
why the Greatest Hits album would make a good Christmas gift --
the mix packs a multitude of Whitney's hits together seamlessly.
On the Charts: The Greatest Hits
exits the Billboard 200 again and slips on the R&B chart, but
earns a bullet for increased sales, no thanks to nonexistent holiday
advertising in the U.S. There are about ten days left until Christmas
and Arista has yet to deliver promotion. Meanwhile, BMG continues
excellent holiday marketing tactics that have strengthened the album's
sales elsewhere in the world. Read the complete statistics...
CBS will reair "The Bodyguard" on Wednesday, December 20th at 8:30
p.m. EST. (Thanks Rashad) For more appearances, please check

Bahamas RealVideo and Screen
Captures: See and hear Whitney and Bobby singing "My
Prerogative" at their impromptu performance in the Bahamas
this weekend!
From the New York Daily News:
Whitney and Bobby In Paradise -- For years now, the conventional
wisdom about Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown is that their life
is no day at the beach. So much for conventional wisdom. Although
most stories over the last year have involved either Brown's jail
time or the rumors that his wife has a drug problem, all seemed
well when the couple appeared on the beach as surprise attractions
at Saturday's grand reopening of Sol Kerzner's Ocean Club on Paradise
Island in the Bahamas.
With an A-list crowd that included Michael Jordan, Stevie Wonder,
Gloria and Emilio Estefan, Jose Feliciano, Natasha Richardson, Ray
Liotta and Diana Krall, it was nevertheless the embattled Browns
who turned out to be the highlight of the night. During Houston's
"Shoop Shoop Song," for example, Brown jumped onstage and began
rubbing his wife's stomach as she sang. A few moments later, he
ripped off his vest and sang "We Got Something in Common" with Whitney.
They seemed, at one point, to be singing directly to each other
with lyrics like, "Girl, you know it's you I adore" and "There's
no one in this world I love more." Their performance went a long
way toward convincing everyone that the worst may indeed be over.
Another highlight of the evening was the wise-cracking Feliciano,
who did a duet with Wonder, "California Dreamin.'" "Me and Stevie
were going to play tennis at Wimbledon," he joked. "It would be
called 'Endless Love.'" Feliciano then added, "Stevie got me a present
last year: a cheese grater. It was the most violent book I ever
read."
From USA Today: Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown couldn't
resist jumping into a jam as the Bahamas' Ocean Club luxury resort
reopened on Paradise Island over the weekend. Guests including Michael
Jordan and wife Juanita (who own a residence there) saw Diana Krall
on stage as planned. But soon Houston and Brown, Stevie Wonder,
Gloria and Emilio Estefan and Jose Feliciano were up there, too.
Houston and Brown were stuck together like ham on eggs as they sang;
about 1:30 a.m. they rode off on the back of a golf cart to the
blackjack tables at the Atlantis.

Bahamas
Clips: E! News Daily aired a brief clip today of Whitney and
Bobby performing impromptu at the reopening of the Bahamas resort
that was reported yesterday. They were shown singing "My Prerogative."
Whitney was sitting on a stool behind a keyboard as she was singing,
so it was hard to tell exactly what she was wearing, but her outfit
was black on top. She sounded great and seemed to be in really good
spirits. Bobby was to the far left of the stage in the clip. Syndicated
TV show "Extra" also aired some footage from Whitney and Bobby's
performance. U.S. fans who want to record the clips should check
their local listings to see if the shows will reair overnight or
in the morning/early afternoon. (Thanks Rashad)
Want This? If you're a Whitney fan who doesn't live in the
U.K. but wants to get the Greatest Hits Preview CD and magazine
article that lucky U.K. residents got yesterday, you can buy a shrink-wrapped
package including everything for $14.99 by visiting Espirit

week on the Dutch Veronica Top 100. (Thanks Eddy VB)
New Zealand Gets Marketing Push: It seems every other daytime
commercial on New Zealand TV is an advertisement for Whitney's Greatest
Hits CD. It now has a different cover here and the original price
has been reduced by 40% to take advantage of the holidays. The 40-second
commercial states the CD will make a great Christmas gift, and features
"I Will Always Love You," "I'm Every Woman," "All The Man That I
Need," "Could I Have This Kiss Forever," "If I Told You That" and
"Saving All My Love For You." In addition, commercials for the "Platinum
Christmas" CD (which includes Whitney's "Who Would Imagine A King"
from "The Preacher's Wife") are also on heavy rotation. (Thanks

U.K.
Charts Update: "Whitney: The Greatest Hits" has been certified
4X Platinum in the U.K., signifying sales of 1.2 million copies.
The album is still in the U.K. Top 20 after thirty weeks on the
chart due to recent excellent promotion by BMG U.K. In comparison,
the album's holiday season marketing is still nonexistent in the
U.S. Read the complete statistics…
Free Preview CD: The U.K. newspaper, the Mail on Sunday,
today contained a free Whitney promo CD for the Greatest Hits (pictured
here). The tracklisting on the back of the CD is as follows:
1. Heartbreak Hotel CD ROM Video 4:11
2. My Love Is Your Love Wyclef Remix Audio for Hi-Fi or CD ROM 4:25
3. I Learned From The Best CD ROM Video 4:30
4. Greatest Megamix Audio for Hi-Fi or CD ROM 14:13
5. The Whitney Houston Greatest Hits CD Commercial CD ROM Video
0:30
6. The Zoom Guide to Shopping Online on CD ROM
7. Zoom Internet Access Software on CD ROM
The Megamix consists of several of Whitney's Greatest Hits, including
"I'm Every Woman," "Love Will Save the Day,"
"I Wanna Dance With Somebody," "So Emotional,"
"I Will Always Love You," "It's Not Right But It's
Okay," "I'm Your Baby Tonight," and more.
Interestingly, the "Night & Day" magazine supplement in the newspaper
contained a very positive, long article under the headline "Why
We Will Always Love Whitney." Among its comments, the article states
that "I Will Always Love You" is "very, very good" and that Celine
Dion's voice sounds "thin" in comparison to the "almost operatic"
qualities of Whitney's voice. The writer even had positive things
to say about Whitney's relationship with Bobby. It will be a great
way to promote the album and upcoming single since the newspaper
has a circulation of about 2 million and appears to have completely
sold out. (Thank you David M., Peter)

According to the newspaper The Plain Dealer, one of Whitney's personal
platinum records for sales of "The Bodyguard" soundtrack will be
auctioned tonight at a sold-out fund-raiser for Cleveland's Center
for Families and Children. The event, "Holiday Gala 2000: Honoring
Legendary Ladies of Film Musicals," begins at 7 p.m. at the Rock
and Roll Hall of Fame, and will honor eight actress-singer-dancers
- Janet Leigh, Jane Russell, Jane Powell, Celeste Holm, Anne Jeffreys,
Ann Blyth, Rhonda Fleming and Petula Clark. The center, which helps
more than 22,000 families and children in Cuyahoga County through
day care, head start, child care, elderly services and behavioral-health
services, hopes to raise more than $100,000 from ticket sales and
the auction tonight. |

Charts Update: News from Belgium
From several newspapers: Former Russian President Boris Yeltsin
revealed today how he has become a Western pop fan almost a year
after quitting the Kremlin. He spends his time watching his favorite
stars on video, participating in duck shoots, and advising Vladimir
Putin, his successor as Russian president. Mr Yeltsin, 69, who is
the first leader in Russian history to have voluntarily gone into
retirement, said in a newspaper interview: "On DVD I watch concerts
of Western performers - Sting, George Michael, Whitney Houston,
and Celine Dion. I very much like Andrew Lloyd Webber's musicals."

On
the Charts: "Whitney: The Greatest Hits" gets
a surprise sales boost this week that causes it to re-enter both
the Billboard 200 and R&B/Hip-Hop Albums charts. The most interesting
aspect of it is that the album has not received any sign of even
a slight U.S. marketing push from Arista to cause a sales increase.
It is most likely due to people discovering the album as they shop
for gifts during the holiday season. It would have likely grown
more if it had received marketing resources. It still waits for
holiday advertising and promotional materials. Read the complete
statistics...
Channel V (in

From Billboard Magazine: The Hot Shot Debut is a new act
to the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks chart but not to records.
Sunday debuts at No. 48 with "I Know" (Capitol). As its first single
enters the chart with equal parts radio and retail points, this
group seems to have begun with a solid base. The group is one big
family, literally, with the lineup comprising three sisters and
two cousins. They first appeared on the soundtrack to "Down In The
Delta" in 1999, featured on Whitney Houston's "Believe In Love"
(Virgin). Sunday began with roots in the church, singing in the
choir of the church where their grandmother was a pastor for 23
years. Sunday's "I Know," produced by Warryn Campell, has already
been embraced at radio with airplay from WBLS New York; WWWZ Charleston,
S.C.; KBMB Sacramento, Calif.; and WWDM Columbia, S.C. The debut
album is due in first-quarter 2001.
According to Espirit
International, there is a "Heartbreak Hotel" U.K. advance promo
12" vinyl featuring the R.I.P. Vocal Mix and a Greatest Hits Megamix.

Here's a somewhat longer report on Whitney's "I Will Always Love
You" from Rolling Stone's 100 Greatest Pop Songs: When Whitney Houston's
"I Will Always Love You" - from the soundtrack of her 1992 movie
debut, The Bodyguard - landed at Number One, few of her fans knew
that the ballad was written and first recorded by country-pop superstar
Dolly Parton. "As a songwriter, I've never had a prouder moment
in my life than when I first heard Whitney Houston's version of
'I Will Always Love You,'" Parton says. "I wrote the song in the
early Seventies and recorded it a couple of times myself, but Whitney
gave it new life." That new life wouldn't have happened without
Houston's Bodyguard co-star Kevin Costner. "During the filming,
Kevin came to me with the song," says Houston, "and told me to listen
to it with my ears and not the way it was being sung by Dolly Parton.
I cleared my trailer and sat down to listen, and realized Kevin
was right." By replacing the song's down-home twang with soul-testifying
and gospel-influenced vocals that reached for the heavens, Houston
created a phenomenon that will always follow her. "It was the biggest-selling
single I have had," Houston says. "I can't go anywhere without singing
it." Parton as well isn't likely to forget Houston's cover anytime
soon. "I really have Whitney and Kevin to thank for all the prestige,"
Parton says. "And money." (Thanks Abduel)

Another Twist Magazine Update
The following is text from an e-mail sent by Twist Magazine about
its plans to publish an article about Whitney: "It
was formerly reported on this site that Twist magazine had dropped
Whitney as part of a story on girls meeting celebrities. Well, this
story is now scheduled for Twist's February issue and does include
Whitney. Check it out in late January when the issue hits the stands."
(Thank you M.S.)
Again, great job to everyone who took the time to write to the magazine,
and to Quencie T. Thomas for bringing it to our attention! The magazine
had decided to drop the article
earlier this year because it felt Whitney was "too controversial,"
so fans wrote to the magazine to complain. As Quencie told us in
November, the magazine has changed
its plans. Be on the lookout for it late next month! Also,
please take a minute to send
thank you notes to the magazine to show appreciation for the
fact that they decided to publish the article. |

From Newark Star-Ledger: Monica reports that she and Whitney
Houston are aiming at spring for the start of production on "Angel

fanciful "Angel" tale that would have her playing a gal with an
unusual guardian angel -a deceased '70s rock star. Houston's company
is producing the picture for Wonderful World of Disney, a la Brandy's
"Cinderella" of 1997. ''Whitney's not acting in it, but because
of our relationship, she wants to be on the set when we shoot it,"
says Monica. (Thanks Manish)
Whitney's "Heartbreak Hotel" is a new entry at No. 20 on the Radio
